Man, you guys are killing me! Too much awesomeness, not enough $$$ to get it all. First off, that is a monster guitar. Take the best pickup ever made, one volume, BADASSNESS. Those are some of the best sounding pedals I have heard in a while. That red Tight Rock was dope. Love it!

Love watching these longer videos as i diddle around on the guitar, fun to try and pick up the licks here and there!

I liked the red one best, although I think the metal pedal is an absolute beast - just needs EQing right to stop it going too fizzy. Seriously though, these have to be some of the fiercest gain pedals I've ever heard.

I really like the idea of having an fx loop that turns on by turning the pedal off. you can essentially have your raw driven sound and then switch to your chorus-reverb-whatever clean sound without turning it into a riverdance practice.

Thing I love about this pedal is how meaty it sounds...just loads of balls. Yet the tight control and noise gate do away with a lot of the ringing noisy crap that comes with such high gain settings. A masterpiece!

Got the Tight Rock a week ago. An amazing pedal but EQing it to stop it being a bit too fizzy is proving an absolute pain in the rear. I feel like for my personal use the Tight Drive would probably have been the way to go. Will give it another week or so and keep trying and if I fail I'll sell it on to make most of my money back and then get a Tight Drive.
@DawsonClawson
@DawsonClawson 9 лет назад
+1 for the WipeOut reference. (edit): I don't recall hearing you gents mention it, but the Tightmetal has a built-in Noise Gate, too. Also, I haven't tried it with modern amps, but it doesn't like my vintage Orange when played high volume, for practice. Works awesome at bedroom or studio levels though.
@cpamiseso
@cpamiseso 9 лет назад
I tried those pedals in a shop nearby, they're awesome (and quite pricey as well of course) and deliver good sound, for distortion or overdrive you're looking for. Quite really the answer if you're looking something 'all-in' in one pedal of a distortion/overdrive. Still I would want another Carl Martin's anyway.
@666jony666
@666jony666 8 лет назад
I'd say having the effects loop would be invaluable for a touring musician that has to rent amps or share someone else's. Going to a festival where you have to work with a Jcm2000 and you're used to working with a boosted Mesa or 5150 and just plugging this in and not having to mess around with the effects loop on the back of the amp. Genius.

Were you powering these pedals with 9v, 18v, or anything in between? I read that they take batteries and 9 to 18 volt power supplies and I wanted to know which supply you were using. Great video as usual!

Great video as usual. But you missed the greatest pedal, the basic Tight Metal. I got mine just before the Pro version came out and I'm glad I did. I think if I got the Pro I would be forever messing with the EQ. The sound I get from the original Tight Metal is awesome and I don't want to change it. Haha

Hey Rob! Few questions about the future of Chapman. Firstly, when do you think the new signatures will be out? Also, is there any chance the ML-1 Pro and the Chapman Pedals can be sold at the NJ store? I live in New York and i'm waiting for your clinic to try out the ML-1 Pro and see if I want to save more money for that instead of the ML-1.

@louaguado995

You guys should plug overdrive/distortions into the effects return. It bypasses the tone and drive on the amps so all the sound is from the pedal.

The trick with the Tight Metal Pro is to turn up the overall level to about 2 or 3 o clock and I run mine at 18V for better head room. If you use it with a 100watt tube amp then 18V sounds best. 50W tube amp I’d use 9V. Have fun Amptweaker #1

I'm not Rob. But you should get an incredible amp, then save some money, and then buy some pedals
@Gregorypeckory
@Gregorypeckory 9 лет назад
Floyd Savage Agreed; better to do without pedals for a while and put it all into the basics: guitar and amp. A totally dry sound from a great amp beats a ton of effects though a crappy sounding amp. Or maybe you can find a nice used amp with a couple built in effects, like one of the Vox modelling hybrids, or better yet, a Yamaha DG80-112; they are around if you do a search. They sound great, and have chorus, reverb, and delay. They also are programmable with 128 memory locations, and a bunch of great sounding amp models; also loud enough to rip your ears off. You can find them in the $3-600 range.
