No meat of any kind for 30+ years and not one diet related illness. No broken bones. Never had a heart monitor on no prescription meds. Lucky genes? Nope. Obesity, heart disease and colon cancer run in my family. I love being plant based and would never, ever contemplate eating animal flesh again.

Isn't it just so dreadful that for decades we were brainwashed by the meat, dairy and egg industries, with our government assistance and approval, to believe that the SAD is actually what we needed to thrive. Now we know that countless human beings suffer painful, disabling lives because of just that. Why do we believe that what we put into our bodies three/four times a day doesn't do anything for us. Yet, we trust that a bunch of chemical pills is going to heal us and make all the suffering go away. Money certainly is the root of all evil.

Yes, there are unfortunate outlyers in every situation. But who's to say that loved ones might have died even younger if they hadn't adopted vegan diets. Vegan diet don't promise that you'll never die, but for the vast majority of the population it just might prevent them from living a life worse than death. That's what I'm aiming for. So sorry for your loss.

My "Why" is why don't doctors know this stuff? They see people in the early stages of nutrition related health problems and do nothing but reach for their prescription pads. My doctor wanted to put me on statins when my cholesterol went off the charts. Instead, I immediately went 100% plant based and had my total cholesterol down to 200 in 2 weeks. At my 4 week doctor's visit it was down to 186 and the doctor had no interest how I achieved it. He was just pissed I didn't follow his orders. Needless to say I don't use this quack anymore.

Fred Distenbrain pills and treatments are very lucrative and pharmaceuticals own every medical school corporation. It’s the world we live in. Medicine, government etc are all giving us information through the lens that benefits their entities. Individual doctors do the best they can without ulterior motives, I would guess, using the training and best practice they are commanded to follow to keep their license. They get a few hours tops of nutritional classes in medical school. It’s a pity.

I had a similar experience with three different doctors that all told me I would have to take medication for the rest of my life and that there was no way to cure my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and that I could only manage the symptoms with pills. I did my own research and went vegan and lowered all my numbers in three weeks and was off all the meds after three months

One big reason is people like the food It’s addicting and everyone pushes it Oh moderation oh just this one time Just this last time it’s your birthday My birthday it’s the holiday! Then theres i do not want to eat salads for the rest of my life I can say this because i have been on both sides and i try to tell people eating plant based will cure them of obesity cancer ukceritive colitis But the main responce i get is i could never give up...... or. ........... They like the addictive food it is hard to break i totally understand it but it is a sad truth most die because they do not want to give up the food or believe it can cure them. Same reason i cannot get some family to quit smoking they have weird excuses i need that break i cannot tolerate.... when in actuality these things do more harm than good. I pray children can get trained early we need a change in the system from the get go so they are not trained in these ways it will be the end of society otherwise. Merry christmas to all i pray for strength and change for any and all who need it want it and to prevent what may be to come if change does not occur.

Vegetarian means plant-based (same as a vegan diet) and, veganism itself isn’t a diet, and, if one consumes animaI products, one isn’t vegetarian - vegetarianism is the diet aspect of being vegan, a diet that is based on vegetal products!
@FrozenMermaid666
@FrozenMermaid666 Год назад
I have been on a plant-based diet for more than a decade now, and even before that I wouldn’t consume a lot of meats / animaI products as I have the highest smeII / taste sensitivity and the highest perception level (as do my protectors) and I couldn’t stand the smeIIs and heavy / greasy / yuky taste of meats / animaI products, plus I never could eat beef / steak / lamb meat etc, which were extremely bad-smeIIing, and I haven’t had a cold in years, like, I cannot even remember the last time I had a cold - I noticed that I felt the worst when I consumed more dairy, and soon after that I ditched dairy and eggs and went plant-based!
@FrozenMermaid666
@FrozenMermaid666 Год назад
I never get infections in my wounds and I have a great immunity - and my GI has always been normal, so no risk to get diabetes!
@FrozenMermaid666
@FrozenMermaid666 Год назад
I cannot find any info on anyone getting gangrene or necrotizing fasciitis etc on a plant-based diet, so I don’t think there’s anyone that consumes plant-based products only that got such serious infections, which are linked to very poor immunity, because poor immunity is caused by consuming meats / animaI products (the more meat / dairy / eggs one consumes, the higher the risk) and smoking and other unhIty lifestyle ‘choices’ and, it usually happens to those btg and those consuming meats / dairy / eggs etc, and all these things are associated with very poor immunity and carelessness and smoking etc!

I know! I laugh when my parents talk about how hard it would be to go vegan. They always say, "I don't know how you do it. I could never, it'd be too hard." It's not even hard at all, but okay. If that's the excuse you wanna go with.
@davidsgardell
@davidsgardell 4 года назад
@@selenalemiec2549 Haha! Yeah, I think you can compare it to traveling; different cultures, different dishes. Is it "complicated" to them? Of course not! So it basically boils down to ignorance, that it's foreign and you haven't read up on it. And being plant based, these days, you can just replace the animal products with plant based alternatives!! So. Easy. Funny tho, because people sometimes say "Yeah, it is easy to be vegan today, but imagine 15-20 years ago!" Know what I'm eating these days, or like today; spaghetti, beans, veggies and béchamel sauce. Rice, potatoes, lentils etc. It would have been just as easy back then for me, because I don't care too much for the burgers etc. :) "It's hard" = I don't want to and/or help, I'm scared. Hahah..

Depends on whether one can make the connection, i personally cannot, and although i am fully plant based regardless for health reasons, i just don't have that ''switch'' in my head that would make me become an ethical vegan, despite being aware of the horrors of animal suffering and being disgusted by it.. It is what it is, in that regard, we are different.
@dairy_fairy
@dairy_fairy 4 года назад
@@Kristers_K You are fully aware of the horrors *and* disgusted by it - but "can't make the connection"? Can you elaborate? It would make sense if you said that you are aware of the horrors, but it's not affecting you emotionally and you don't care. Or do you mean it's disturbing what is being done to them, ie rape, abuse and mutilation etc, but it's not ethically wrong to you? That sounds messed up tho. Anyway, I'm happy you are not supporting them. 👍

I switched for health reasons too. I used to eat meat and dairy but thought I was eating a healthy diet. I did drink soy milk, but got scared of soy so I quit. I then started using whey protein powder to try to gain muscle. I then developed a lump in my chest. Breast cancer in men is rare, but possible. I went to my doctor, and he put me through a series of tests for cancer. I researched what I could eat to help my chances. The documentary "Forks Over Knives" convinced me. I dumped the whey and switched to a mostly Whole Food Plant Based vegan diet. By the time I was supposed to have a biopsy, they weren't able to get a sample, because my lump had shrunk so much. I felt so much more energy on my new diet, I kept it. In fact, I am now 100% vegan years later. I am in my 60's, and never felt better. I get glowing reports from my doctor and need no prescriptions. I love to go hiking, play Frisbee, do chin ups, etc.

I work at a homeless shelter and one of the friends of a host there has foot problems that could eventually require amputation. I got to talking about the food program 'whole food-plant based' and how the government can't be providing false information about meat and dairy being healthy and required, especially that glass of milk on the USDA recommended meal. Eating only a tiny amount of meat and dairy might be acceptable but people don't do that, including myself before the program. It takes great discipline initially and work to change the diet but it is very sustainable after done and completely satiating for almost everyone. I hope people get the will and discipline and make it the #1 priority and their life will be night and day. Mine was night and now is day after changing.

I know that I need to go vegan. I'm putting it off, but the difference in my body when I don't eat meat for even a day or two is unbelievable. But it's hard. I love the smell and taste of meat.
@erkkip8271

Yes it can be hard in the beginning and it's harder for some people, it's easier for other people. Taste buds will adapt to different foods after some time pass. And it takes time when organism adapt when changing diet. There are many delicious plant-based recipes, but after 3 years, me myself, I usually eat really simple meals nowadays: often just boiled buckwheat, boiled potatoes (gives satiety feeling) with some leafy green veggies added to dish, because it's just very easy to make those meals. And I eat few fruits/carrots as snacks. Desires for meat and processed foods are gone. Some tasty healthy plant based recipes www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/

Diabet and obesity go with sugar and processed food. I don't get the video message.
@erkkip8271
@erkkip8271 4 года назад
Actually blood sugar levels go high because of eating lot's of fatty foods (there's lot's of saturated fats {bad fats} in meat and dairy). Fats accumulate inside cells (intramyocellular lipids) and then insulin is not doing is job very well and glucose (blood sugar) can't enter cells, and thus blood sugar level keep high (it's called insulin resistance). But yep, consuming lot's of table sugar or processed foods is not good choice too. Processed foods contain many toxic chemicals. It's also hard to burn calories from those - burning energy of small bottle of coke equals 5 miles of running (but note: only small amount of unburnt energy is actually converted to body fats), but this thing is different when, consuming processed crap, what have both: fats+refined carbs (fries, burgers, icecream etc..), then fats are stored very easily. Sugars in whole plants are actually good: fruits in moderate amount, starches/legumes/vegetables unlimited amount, no animal foods or high fat foods - this is what cures obesity/diabetes(type-2). Starches are important to give satiety feeling.

I wish people would stop using the term "VEGAN DIET". I despise the term "Vegan Diet". Veganism is a lifestyle not a diet. A so called vegan diet can consist of only French fries, Oreo cookies, Coke/Pepsi/Sprite, fried Onions, wonder Bread, Spread with "I cant believe it is not butter'", Gummy Bears (Vegan) and a whole host of Vegan processed Junk food. People eating like this are going to be unhealthy, and probably more unhealthy than those following a traditional western diet. As Michael Pollan said" Eat real food, mainly Plants and not too much. Follow a Low Fat Whole Food Plant Based diet, Limited oil, salt and sugar, no Processed foods and very limited animal products, good for you, good for the planet. Do as Jeff Novick says, dont eat C,R,A,P Calorie Rich And Processed foods. Combine This with what Michael Pollan says and you have a perfect recipe for a healthy diet.

He was obese. Many non vegetarians are not obeses, and diabetes is linked to obesity. Going vegan may help to loose weight, is environmentally frirndly, but demonising non vegans is nonsense. People in the Mediterranean area have a healthy diet with some meat, fish and cheese

What usually happens is that cutting out the animal products helps remove the "meat goggles." Your mind becomes open to the other reasons to be vegan. Look at Penn Jillette. I also switched for health reasons and later became aware of the other reasons to go vegan.

The less we eat animal products the more they can have without needing more Ressources... You say "i want" and we say "No thanks" so whats the Problem

He had to be exercising. I recently went 100% vegan eating mostly plants, a high percentage raw, and wasn’t eating processed foods or pastas much. Bought several cook books, etc. After 2 months not a single pound lost. I’m done with vegan. Most people that get the big scare probably change their diet (vegan?) and start exercising like crazy and drinking more water and all of that. And getting more sleep. I simply changed my diet didn’t start exercising, didn’t change my sleep patterns, etc., and I didn’t lose a single solitary pound - nothing. Vegan isn’t the magic bullet. Eating less, exercising more, drinking more water and getting regular sleep is what will work.
