Components and Operation
Before operating your AMSCO 7052HP or 7053HP Washer, become familiar with the controls and major components including the control screen, chamber door with lights, emergency stop button, and a printer for documenting each cycle. Inside the chamber are the rotary spray arm assemblies, a debris screen, and rack manifold coupling.
The washer features a touch screen located on both sides. The control system monitors cycle operation and all critical cycle parameters. This washer can process a wide variety of loads using pre-programmed cycles. It also allows for the creation of custom cycles.
The washer is equipped with lighting showing the current cycle status:
• Green indicates washer/disinfector is available
• White indicates washer/disinfector is in cycle
• Red indicates washer/disinfector needs attention
After performing all preliminary steps, load the rack to be processed. Use an appropriate rack designed for the instruments you’re going to process. You should be using Washer Racks designed for STERIS washers/disinfectors. Reference STERIS Tech Data Sheets for complete rack details.
Running a Cycle
Pre-programmed cycles and cycle icons are used to start a cycle and track its progress.
To initiate a cycle, select “Cycle” from Ready mode to see pre-programmed options. Once the cycle is finished, a signal sounds and the chamber door opens. The control screen displays the “Cycle Completed” screen. A detailed printout is generated documenting the cycle parameters.
Routine Care and Maintenance
To keep the washer in excellent condition, it’s important to clean and maintain it regularly. A maintenance schedule can be found in the Operator Manual. Some maintenance activities should be performed by a qualified service technician.
Professional standard organizations recognize the importance of monitoring your mechanical and chemical cleaning process. STERIS recommends using the Verify® All Clean Test Washer Indicator on a daily basis to monitor washer cycles.
After the last cycle has been completed each day, you’ll need to rinse off the Debris Screen.
Weekly Maintenance:
• Clean the outside of the washer
• Inspect and clean rack spray arms and tips
• Wipe off the water outlet connection
• Run the decontamination cycle
Spray Arm Inspection and Cleaning:
Inspect rack spray arms weekly for free movement and clogged holes. To clean a clogged arm, remove the locking pin by securing each spray arm on the rotary spray arm hub, then remove the spray arms. For the AMSCO 7052 HP Washer, remove the spray tip by removing the locking pin. For the AMSCO 7053 HP Washer, rotate each end of the spray tip counterclockwise and pull to remove. Clean the spray arms and run in clear water to clear out sediments.
Weekly Decontamination Cycles:
Place an empty multi-level rack in the chamber and choose the decontamination cycle on the control screen. The cycle will start automatically. Open the door and pour the descaling solution into the chamber pump when prompted on the screen, then close the chamber door.
Some maintenance activities occur on an as-needed basis. This includes replenishing the processing chemicals and replacing the printer paper and ink cartridge.
In addition to routine maintenance, regularly scheduled preventive maintenance is essential for ensuring peak performance and avoiding unscheduled downtime. To schedule a maintenance appointment with a STERIS service technician, call 800.333.8828
