I have Maruti Dzre zxi+ AMT petrol model 2018......it is the best Car. I think its absolutely smooth in any gear. I love it. Because my Age is 67 years I driving highway on Mumbai-Pune fast track. There is no problem at all.
Hill Hold Assist is not only for hills, it is essential for even city driving when you are stuck in a start-stop traffic on a flyover slope or at a red light on a slope. In absence of a clutch pedal, no half-clutching is possible. The car has a tendency to roll back in slope-up in forward drive mode giving a big tension in your mind that it might hit the car behind. Specially for less experienced drivers, not adept in using the hand brake it is not suitable. The biggest advantage of a CVT transmission is that the car never defies the engaged drive mode, hence if it is in forward drive mode it will never roll back. Also reversing it on a down slope it will not roll forward and these are essential requirement of safe driving. Hence, the present design of AMT or AGS have a limited utility on levelled roads in a traffic jam and is in no way an alternative to CVT and not worth the extra money the manufacturers charge. Gear change jerks are a minor issue.
Shantanu ji, Good explanation BUT is confusing. Should have suggested "to go in or not to go in for" !! One thing is clear that more & more Car models are coming in AMT since 2014 & some small-small improvements are regularly getting incorporated. Very small % of people go to hills with such cars (People take SUV or Big powered cars to hills). I'm a physically disabled person wanting to buy an AMT but for rescuing from the said problem, a manual mode has been provided. I think the situation about the AMT is not grave. I wonder how does the KWID AMT work, when it has only a Rotary knob, just having 3 options only. (Thanks, Anil K Chawla).
ANIL K CHAWLA , GO FOR IT. There is no problem as such even in the hills and for plains it is very convenient. But I will not suggest Kwid for AMT . Its AMt is least refined among all cars. In the same budget you can go for alto k10.

Here is my bitter experience : There is a potential risk underneath for all Celerio AMT users which is recently surfaced in my AMT celerio clocked 1year 1month and covered 8000 KM. The AMT unit of my car suddenly started malfunctioning while commuting in very fast traffic flow , the gears were changed erratically within seconds the AMT unit stopped functioning between the traffic and with grate difficulty i have maneuvered the vehicle to a safe shoulder of the road and i had to left the vehicle with no option. What could have been happened if the same situation occur in a high way while overtaking a vehicle at corner of overtaking passing between rear and wind side vehicles. The service representatives are reluctant to respond to my case supporting the AMT design mentioning it is universal design and no vehicle will engine ahead when AMT fails. Hence dear all Celerio users be careful and keep this in mind while driving Celerio in heavy traffic. You may find feedback on AMT malfunctioning in web forums too. after 3rd escalation , i have left with a option of selling my vehicle or exchange at my cost loosing money from pocket for without my mistake or wrong choice.
I have been driving an automatic car for last 1 month and I have tried every possible way to increase mileage by running AC, by driving without running AC, driving slow moderate and harsh ,everything but my mileage have not increased even a bit.The company claims mileage of 22 kmpl but I get a maximum of just 10.8 kmpl and my car is a petrol automatic.
Come on Boss. I have Ignis AMT petrol. No issues at all comparing to the way you have highlighted. Refine and good average. Even CVT and DSG have little back while changing, AMT is bit more. So many companies are adapting to AMT.
I have wagon r amt. It jerks in 1st gear when engine gets too hot in long driving. There is no solution to resolve this. I used to face this problem after 9000 kms. Amt is benefit to drive in local only. Not for long driving..
Amt is better then manual as traffic is increasing day by day so it makes it very convenient secondly as it's not pure automatic so the maintenance is also some what same as manual and finally u have advantage of using it in manual mode called as triptronic mode aswell to get certain feeling of manual driving as well.

one point is exactly opposite what you mentioned, diesel AMT is most of the cars have lot of lag, which is much lesser in petrol AMT, so though diesel has more torque, it's of not much use
Correct.. I have a 2009 i10 magna sportz automatic.. I love that car.. Sudden pickup great performance.. Minus point low milege.. So I bought a wagonr amt in 2018... Have milege...gear shifting not as smooth as i10... on driving easiness and comfort.. i10 far better

I know that the old AMT cars in Automatic/Drive mode gives you jerky and lazy ride but what about latest AMT cars specially Maruti AMT cars? Q2. I am also curious about manual mode in latest AMT cars. So, Can manual mode in latest AMT cars specially Maruti cars like Dzire give almost the similar smoothness without jerks, confidence and fun in riding as the manual gearbox itself gives? Q3. Will CVT or Torque Convertor automatics will not face rollback problems without hill assist ? or there also use of hand brake or hill assist is required? I want a small car only like a wagon r. In such segment all torque converters and CVT are not having Hill assist. Secondly, if actuator fails in AMT, it is equivalent to No Clutch condition. Will car become dead and towed to service station? Kindly advise. I am having wagon r Manual and want to purchase automatic car. Regards.

Sir, I just purchased Honda city cvt. During drive at 60kmph. By mistake I changed gear D to P & car break apply and stop immediately. This is very unsafe. My question, It's car defect if not then there must be some interlock to avoid this mistake in traffic.

not exactly but Hill Hold assist is an important function and is sadly not a feature in most of cars which actually makes driving on hill even more convenient and safe.
Not you, nor anyone in your line of work ever mentions this. If one has to drive through waterlogged roads, NEVER BUY ANY SORT OF NON MANUAL TRANSMISSION. ONLY manual transmissions permit the driver to stay on the accelerator while driving at crawing speeds on the clutch, through water.

I don't know how you drive,, i have Dzire AMT and live in palampur but no problem at all in uphills,,, Or use handbrake while you stop your car in uphills and release hand brake slowly and press acceleration,,,, btw celerio amt in diesel or petrol...?

Gagan sir, I have nios petrol amt, I use only right leg for breake and accelrator. Left foot is idle which is the recommended way of driving a automatic vehicle in normal conditions, in a situation whereI have to stop my vehicle on the steep ascent of flyover due to redlight, I generally use left leg brake pedal and right leg on accelerator, when I am supposed to move I press accelerator and release the break slowly so that car won't go backwards. Many youtubers recommend use of handbrake instead of break pedal, somehow I am not comfortable with usage of handbreake in traffic. What i am doing is it correct? Will it get me into trouble in any of the situations for using both the legs?
Engage handbrake. When moving off...decompress handbrake gently while leg is on brake pedal. While decompressing handbrake...lift leg from brake pedal and slowly press accelerator. It will move

Well AMT is actually a Manual Transmission one only, but without any manual clutch as clutch and gear movements are done by Actuator. When used in manual mode - one can drive it with almost similar feel as like Manual.
Ramesh ji I have driven AMT duster for almost 2 years and 52000 You can use manual mode but because of automatic clutch function you never feel when to dn shift for better performance Simple if you don not know how to drive manual car properly than amt is absolutely fine for ease and convenience but it irritates you if you are a good driver of manual car more over on highway this transmission is irritating while overtaking quickly as gearbox takes too much time to change the required gear
In future electric vehicle will come with only and only automated transmission. I have experience of AMT in buses this is too much irritating. Go for AT. I have tested AMT & AT vehicle for 90000 kms.
@ Aman - Most Important Factory in Buying Used Car is car condition, Service History including no accidental history. If getting a descent choice in all 4 - Vento would be the pick. Although Service costs would be slight higher, but the build, driving dynamics, safety, mid sedan car, fit and finish is top notch.

(Less spacious, Less head room, Less leg space at back seat, Less Height & ground clearance, No manual mode (as only a Rotary Knob with 3 modes is provided), Very large (extended) Engine Bonnet area, Less pick up power etc.

No engine work done I have read on online forums that celerio amt was juddering and some issue to I am very confused plus I feel i10 is 8 year old till how many years it will last me and all
Juddering is due to clutch plate gone bad. Although one may drive it like automatic but these AMT cars d come with clutch and if an issue in same due to clutch been worn - can cause such issue
