Railfan window view from Amtrak's eastbound Capitol Limited (#30) between South Bend to Elkhart, Indiana. The ROW is Norfolk Southern, formerly the New York Central Water Level Route (also LS&MS, PC, CR) to Buffalo. The video was shot at sunset on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Very nice ride. Thanks for bringing us along. I spent 5 days filming trains at Elkhart last year - including Amtrak's Capital Limited and Lakeshore Limited. The action was fantastic!

Red sky at night, a travelers delight. So the old saying goes. And you have a beautiful one, crossing northern Indiana. I've seen it several times, in the past, from the Sightseer Lounge, as I traveled to DC on #30. This is a great view of the sunset and Indiana from a speeding Capital Limited. Thanks for catching the scenes.

How do you mount this near on the window? Just a suction cup with a gopro? Are most Amtrak conductors cool with it? I have met some who don't mind

I use a HandyCam. I have the camera on a tripod with only one leg in use and just hold it against the window. When I use my cellphone, I just press it tightly against the window. I've never had any problems with staff when doing this; however, on the last trip a coach attendant mildly admonished me for moving the trash can aside to get at the window.
