Phelan Kerensky Why? They voted based on what they thought was best for their country. That's just as patriotic as wanting independence for your country - because you think that would be best. You can't dismiss people's national identity just because you disagree with their world view. For instance, I call myself "Irish", but in no way associate that with Irish Republicanism. I'm proud of my country, it's history, heritage and beauty - nothing political. So because I don't want the same as an Irish Republican, does that give them the right to tell me I'm not Irish? No.

Scotland & Ireland have great patriotic songs. I believe Francis Scott Key was Scottish and he penned the Star Spangled Banner. I am abit partial to the SSB, being American. The best anthems are about freedom & struggle 4 independence (in 3 instances) against the English.
