@Whipple Filter a genital fissure is a tearing of the anus. It’s an actual medical term. Much worse than “genital Fischer”.

Loving someone on the spectrum when you are not is complex. My husband is Asperger's and my oldest son is Autistic. It's easy to feel lonely or hurt when you're in a relationship with someone who has Asperger's and my heart hurts when I watch my son struggle to connect and socialize with others. I get pretty excited when I see people talking about the topic because being on the spectrum is not bad but there's so much mystery and complexity to it. If you don't experience it first-hand it can feel isolating.

@@dominiqueearly2262 I went through a 23 year marriage with my Asperger's husband and what broke my heart was the way he treated our daughter. I felt the same way as you do on occasion, so isolated, but at least you know at the outset that he's on the spectrum and it was so much less difficult to deal with once we both knew. @@93Jubilee Thank you it doesn't help that I'm a very sensitive (some might say emotionally needy) woman who loves to talk and is extremely affectionate. I sometimes wonder why God paired us together when we're SO different. But he is loyal, responsible, and kind. Just distant. We live on different planets while physically existing in the same room. 🤷‍♀️♥️

@@dominiqueearly2262 Dominique, I also frequently (but unintentionally) make life hell for my wife because I also have Aspergers. As if life wasn't already difficult enough for her just living with me, she feels further isolated/lonely (similar to you) because many people don't offer her validation in her struggles. (Even those we've disclosed my condition to them.) I'm in my 40's and we married just a handful of years ago. We had a long distance courtship during which she suspected I had ASD but she resisted making such a pronouncement hoping that one of the many counselors she was encouraging me to see would give me the official diagnosis (so I wouldn't resent her). Now, several years later, things are a little easier because of the many protocols I've adapted and the constant counseling/support we receive from God, professionals, and a few friends. Honestly, though, we still have a very difficult marriage on any given day but that's because we're also exact opposites as far as the Myers-Briggs Temperament Types go. We knew about this before marriage (and even agreed that our respective MB profiles describe us well) and now, a few years into it, the (frustrating) differences there still come into play VERY frequently. I'll go as far as to say I believe my personality type is more a fundamental part of me than my Aspergers and that the majority of our difficulties stem from our two differing types. To be sure, my Aspergers doesn't help one darn bit, but my MB profile basically reads like a list of the exact characteristics that frustrate her temperament type the most. My point is that maybe, just maybe, some of the difficulties you & your husband experience can also (and simply) be explained by your respective personality types. When I really take the time to compare/contrast our MB profiles, it explains so much to me about my wife -and MYSELF- so it comes as no surprise to me AT ALL when she acts/feels certain ways about any number of things (not just me). For me, I may not always have answers as to how to live in harmony with my wife, but at least I now have explanations for our difficulties.

i was with my ex for 13 yrs and he looks and acts exactly like Amy's husband. He was not the most affectionate man, but he was and still is my favorite person in the world. He was hard working, loyal, and so giving. Although you constantly feel like you have to explain him to everyone lol I miss that we never argued and how easy going he was. They don't look ppl in the eye and can look quite disheveled, but their weirdness is what makes them so fascinating. trust ladies, I simply adore my current bf that I've been with for 6 years, but there is something about ppl on this spectrum that keeps you always guessing and keeps the excitement...

And he appears to be so patient. They are awesome together.

@sandra farquhar Yeah, we do tend to overlook things allistic people consider obvious. I've had relatives bawl me out for not just knowing something. I always called that jumping to conclusions. Picking on someone for thinking differently isn't a good look, Sandra. Here's a conclusion I reached quickly... you could have made your point without being so deliberately rude and spiteful. Anyway, I need more time to gather information before reaching a conclusion, therefore I start earlier. I chose names for my kids months ahead. It's incredibly foolish to postpone it until you have the baby. At least have some candidates lined up. I was undecided with my youngest so I had two names. She chose her name when she came out screaming. If she'd been less spirited, she'd have gotten the quieter name. Neither matters or decides who she is, that was just our way of weaseling out of choosing. But back to your assertion... you're not wrong, but you're awfully pleased to point out the failings of others.
