The podcast is fantastic Freddie, the move to RU-vid is a great one however I’d echo what others have said with regards keeping a presence on Apple Podcasts etc - easier for the car journeys or when out for a walk. Hopefully people that listen in audio only can remember to click onto RU-vid and give the video version a like so the monetisation can still happen that way👌🏻

I had no clue! Yess. Easy sub. You bring class to motorcycles that I think are much needed and much appreciated. I'm 34 but raised by older parents and older siblings. My love for classic bikes like your Bonneville . I was raised off Sinatra, rat pack, Dean, AL green all the class that I love, so naturally I gravitated to your channel. Nice to see you doing the podcast. I hope you still stay on Spotify. I think you got my last comment wrong about owning a chopper. Yes having a chopper is great when your young. And yes most old bikers have one in the garage, and ride a newer one everyday. I have a 1948 Harley Flathead 74 bobber I built. But I ride a 1998 Harley heritage softail springer. With 54k miles on it. I ride it everyday that I can to work and back. A 60 mile round trip. No way a garage queen. Now, I don’t do that on the Flathead because of my old age, not the bikes. When I said old gray beards have a chopper in the garage and ride a newer bike. The newer one can be a 25 year old bike. Harley’s have three types of bikes. New ones, old one, and really old ones. There longevity is a testament to the brothers that keep them alive. And they do because there not just a bike. There a part of the family. New bikes are fun, fast, and have lots of tech. But older bikes have a soul and a story. I truly believe if you ever learn how to operate a kick start Freddie you would fall in love with an older bike. You don’t have to buy an old Panhead for big money, you can get a 25 year old Evo softail for cheap. They have saddle bags and very comfortable seats for two up riding, and plenty of power to climb any mountain. Take the leap Freddie, come to the dark side, buy an old Harley, come to America, and make memories.

I just wanted to give a shout-out for deauvilles and cruisers . Whilst despatch riding in the 80's and early nineties my honda cx500 (I had 3) all did well in excess of 150,000 miles and the deauville has the same reliability so you can't go wrong for the money . Don't be put off by the high mileage if the price is right . After attending the bike show recently and seeing the new harley fatboy for £21000 I purchased a new pre-reg BMW r18 for £13,000 . Its quality ,beautiful ,epic and a relative bargain . It also has as much soul as a harley and I don't feel out of place coz I dress normally !

Great news. More Freddie to watch. No idea what Spotify is. Glad you're on RU-vid. I also am a Buell Ulysses owner. I have one registered on English plates, but it's in Portugal. A genuine 19,500 miles. 2006 model, first registered in 2008. The most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. I'd sell it cheaper than Freddie says. Lots of extras and modifications. Serviced by an expert in Manchester. Outstanding condition. Very reliable. Six foot six is tall, even in Holland. Electric bikes: I refuse to watch any RU-vid footage of them. Honda Blackpool: how about that? Great commentary on the idiocy of electric powered motors/motorbikes at the end of the video, Freddie. I agree with you totally.

Great podcast and change is good especially if it gets you more subscribers. There are so many good developments on bikes that make them more accessible to more people, and that can't be a bad thing. Many people like the old school hard work riding, and that's also fine, but when you're travelling a few hundred miles having comfort and reliability does make for a better ride experience. I guess it all depends on what you want from the bike, and thankfully there's something out there for everyone.

Great and smart move, now you can show bikes that you talk about (I wanted that when I listened it on Spotify and walked to work), pictures that people will send you. Also it is gonna be fun seeing your background changing based on your travels, that could be also amazing. But it would nice to keep "Motorcycle Chat" even on Spotify/Other podcast platforms as small part of income, maybe? Also promoting stuff and having the posibility of adverts is gonna be easier and will help you. I hope you will promote brands and stuff for motorcycles only (and Europe based). Thank you for your hard work and wishing all the best. 🤞

This is a test comment - my original comment keeps disappearing! 😥 Hey Freddie, I've been following your main YT channel for the last 1-2 years and started riding on two wheels back in 2020. Ironically, we are the same exact age and born in the same year! Anyways, this was the first podcast of yours that I've ever watched/listened to and absolutely love the format! I have to say however that I absolutely hate all the electric crap that the gov't and elites are trying to force down our throats (along with the manufacturers)! Even the manufacturers don't want electric but the gov't is making it nearly impossible for them to meet emissions with ICE vehicles that they're being forced in that direction. My brother works for Volvo and is one of the top 68 Master-level techs in the U.S. for Volvo! He told me recently that Volvo paid an outside company to do research and analysis for EV vs ICE and at which point after driving an EV does it begin to benefit the environment (after all the Lithium and mining of rare Earth minerals, the actual energy it takes to manufacture the EV, as well as the life-cycle and disposal of the batteries after only lasting 5-10 years). You'd be shocked as I was to learn that if you purchase a new EV vehicle (on average), it will NOT even BEGIN to help improve the environment (over ICE vehicles) until you drive at least 67,000 miles!!! After this point, then it will only start being better for the environment over its' lifetime vs ICE vehicles! This is so laughable because of all of the restrictions of EV regarding traveling distances so the majority of them are only used around major metropolitan areas! That being said, who is going to be driving at least 67K miles around a major city, AND continue driving it for at least twice that? If they only drive that EV for 67K miles (OR LESS), then it is NOT benefiting the environment whatsoever over ICE equivalents! If people actually knew this information and it was mainstream, then it would be even significantly less popular than they already are! I'm curious to hear your thoughts on about this though! Regarding alternative fuels for ICE however, you are RIGHT ON THE MONEY! Porsche has been spending a LOT of money recently on R&D on a new proprietary alternative (synthetic) fuel that will burn in ICE that does not rely on crude oil and can be purely made in a laboratory and from the sounds of it, they're starting to get really close at developing something that could work! The only downside to this is that it will only work with newer Porches and only the wealthy and rich people will be able to afford it ... LOL!

In the US the ADV bike on many people's wish list is the Pan-America. It has all the tech you can want and its adaptable ride height that lowers the bike when stopped. The only thing that's stopping it from sweeping the market is its Harley 20k price point. On the cruiser thing, the Rebel 1100 has started getting a pretty decent cult following here in the states. See group rides with nothing but them all the time. Honestly it 100% seems the reason the Harley Nightster was even attempted. They saw a share of their market going to these Japanese cruisers and tried a lower priced cruisers that didn't ride as well. I mean people love Indians because the look is immaculate, but the Rebel just rides better (I don't have to worry about my pegs scraping on every single turn) and has slowly become a giant middle finger to the bar and shield rising price point in the US and its a bike you can customize to fit almost any rider. I think the 1100T is a bit of a misstep that is a bit meh. Will it beat out Harley or Indian in the US? Oh no, but Honda is onto something and all of these new cruiser riders are looking across the pond at that CL500, their new scrambler. I haven't met a single rebel rider who doesn't want one of those or the Hawk 11. Also funny note a lot of us didn't even go to the dealership until we had to sign the paperwork for the bike.......a good deal of us bought online because most places were out of stock so it was the only way to track them down. They could have the most boring dealerships in the world and honestly it wouldn't matter. Good move with the podcast though, it helps pull more people to your content and if I may say so, its damn good content.

Crikey Freddie this is some blog! You cover so many issues. Just wanna say well done for doing this, I would find this so difficult . Anyway, I absolutely agree with you about Honda, which is such a shame as they generally make faultless bikes to perfection, apart from looks and general coolness. Make a Honda with Harley chrome looks, that would do it and replicate it across all engine sizes....Crikey the Honda Monkey bike looks so cool, just make it bigger. Electric motorbikes I totally agree with you about due to the massive batteries that would be needed, but it's different for cars. Cars could possibly have a hydrogen engine feeding the electric motor with charge. The Tessla Plaid is an amazingly powerful car and cheaper than the equivalent in petrol. Yes range is a problem at the moment but this could change with Hydrogen.

Hi Freddy great podcast. With regards electric I totally agree that it will never really be the solution for motorbikes, unless used for city transport with short range. Cars have a bigger advantage in that the battery size can be a much bigger in proportion to the overall vehicle size, but even then electric cars are getting incredibly big and heavy just to get an acceptable range. With regards to aircraft I just can't see electric (excuse the pun) taking off. The problem is that a full battery weighs the same as an empty battery and that its very heavy - completely the opposite of what you want when trying to fly. Convential ICE aircraft have take off weights far in excess of their landing weights as fuel is consumed along the way and hence the reason why they have incredibly long ranges. In fact in a fully laden 747 the weight of the jet fuel is heavier than the weight of the 747 itself therefore at the end of the journey it weights over 50% less than when when it started. I have absolutely no problem with electric as an alternative and I'm sure it will find its natural place in the market as for certain journeys electric definitely has its advantages. What I really object to is the government(s) FORCING it on us as the only solution which is just stupid, crazy and completely controlling :-(

You control the government - they are only FORCING things on you because you and others are allowing them to do it. Politicians are easy to control by either the vote or the gun. All governments that have ultimately gone against the wishes of the people come to a sticky end eventually.

Hi Freddie - my first adventure was on an XT500 across Australia- and then after -- lots of other bikes - mainly KTMs with my other half , Fanny which we rode around world on . If you watch Long Way Down I meet Charlie and Ewan in Zambia on huge GS bikes and lots of back up and I was solo with all my kit on my KTM 990 that was ridiculed as being unreliable - but it was actually very reliable - provided you look after fuel and filters. However, I now embark on some new adventures and thinking of the Aprilia 660 Tuareg - why? No idea. I welcome any comments about this bike from you and your followers . Also for China I am going to be riding a CF Moto ( see Tibet Chapter - CF Moto surprisingly good and resilient). Kove ? Any views ? I have a Moto Guzzi V85TT in Hong Kong where I mostly live and it’s perfect for biking enjoyment here - might be a handful in sand despite having adventure credentials - that said adventure means different things to different people - to me it’s months on end crossing continents and living in a tent - to others it’s weekend of tar road and green laning in Wales. The CRF 250 L might be a perfect choice with sensible head on - but ultimately you have to get out of your tent in the Nubian desert or BnB in Wales and see a bike that fills you with joy, pride and excitement …

Never realised you had the Freedom Machines Spotify podcast. You seemingly kept that quiet. Will you keep those podcasts that you have already uploaded to Spotify on there so those such as me can listen? I just bought a 2004 Honda VFR800, 17k miles, mint condition, one owner, garaged all it's life, full Honda luggage, full Honda service history for £2,800. I might now be selling some other more expensive bikes that I seldom ride except to the MOT test. Jaguar XKs, Triumph Speed Triples, you have expensive tastes Freddie. Many thanks for the discussion. Welcome to the channel, Alex!🙂 Absolutely- I’ll keep all of the old podcast episodes up on Spotify etc. Used Hondas are ludicrously good value for money! It’s annoying because my bank balance never quite matched my car/bike aspirations😆

Any thoughts on putting the podcast on Apple/spotify podcast channel as well as RU-vid. Either way I’ll continue to enjoy your podcast. Although will have to watch RU-vid at home. Ride safe. Chris

The Harley Street 750 and 500 were built in India right, so they were essentially Asian style bikes, before they were released this was common knowledge and in every article about them, however since they were released and used by Harley as training bikes in the US this fact has somehow been lost or buried. It's like the new small cc bikes that will be labeled as Triumphs that are built in India using their knowledge and parts. Whether they are successful or have longevity is based on price #1 and on whether buyers care about it's build origin, but I suspect that since most modern Triumphs are assembled in Thailand, it won't be a problem like it was for Harley buyer used to US assembled big Harleys.

Actually Freddie, I'm changing my mind, I'll admit I didn't actually watch you, I took advantage of the pop-up app feature on my Samsung Galaxy Ultra and let you talk away in the background. But I'm really liking the fact we can comment, and hopefully interact with fellow watchers/listeners. Personally, I think the Triumph guy is taking out of his expensively branded backside, trying desperately to appeal to the current Triumph buying demographic who are predominantly anti-electric, ranging from those who say they'll miss the noise, to the Fillingham followers who will say it's all a plot by the lizard headed WEF to lock us into urban zones and deny our right to move. Most of us, most of the time could manage perfectly well with one of the existing electric bikes from Zero, or the upcoming second model from Livewire. Rarely do we ride beyond their range, and even if we do, we usually stop for lunch along the way. As long as there's a place to charge it, we'd be fine. Yes, there are the Cheddar Gorge for breakfast crowd who'll clock up hundreds of miles in a day, but they're a comparative rarity. Certainly they're not buying the current most sold motorcycle - the RE 350. Yes, E100 exists, and yes it means we can keep things that go bang between our thighs, but it won't help us keep our old Triumphs on the road because it'll eat through every bit of rubber on our bike, and you can bet Triumph won't sell is an E100 upgrade kit when they can fog us a new bike. Yes, it means a Bonnie can still be a Bonnie, for a while longer at least, and yes if you do want to ride the length of the land in a weekend it'll save on eating while we're waiting to charge which will be good for our middle aged waistbands. What it won't do is give us clean air, because while a carbon neutral E-Fuel might be able to be produced, burning anything, even hydrogen, in an internal combustion engine also produces NOx and those oxides contribute not only to localised low altitude air pollution but also at mid altitude produce acid rain and high altitudes act as a worse greenhouse gas than CO2. The simple fact is, burning stuff pollutes, whether that's in an engine or a power station, we can mitigate some of the effects but switching to renewably produced electricity is cleaner. And yes battery tech needs to evolve, but it has already and it will continue. For motorcycles, there already is a solution, standardised batteries that we can swap out at charging/changing points. There's already networks across Singapore, Thailand etc, and the big manufacturers have signed an agreement to produce standard sizes we just need some movement.

The Pan America seems to be a great bike, so I wouldn't say HD can't do anything that's not a cruiser. It would be cool to see them make a small cruiser, but I don't see anyone in the US buying it. Their strength is also thier weakness in many respects. Their customers know what they want, and they don't really think like a company looking at the long term and trying to find new markets. Capitalism demands growth, growth, growth!

You praise Royal Enfield as it was among the best. They are in fact heavy like non, weak like non, spare parts are scarse in Europe, the handling is terrible, build quality is low, technology is half a century old. Only attraction is the low price. I fancy your Vlogs and now your Video Podcast but I am truly puzzled about your choises of bikes to fancy. I rode bikes since the 1970s. Mainly Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda, Morini, MV Agusta, BMW, Vespa, KTM, Lambretta, Yamaha, Derby, Husqvarna etc. I Started riding "Adventure Bikes" before BMW released the first R80GS. I did roadracing for some years. I still ride. All I am asking ......................... because both my wife and I fancy watching your Vlogs because you are kind people, you have the camera flair, you are very relaxed, you are great people ................................... to open your eyes and mind to acknowledge different quality bikes, different bike styles, get the grip of great handling bikes, feel the soul of some bikes, dig down in what build quality has to offer. You will never ever regret it. Keep up the great spirit.

Isn't it funny how different markets of the world are so...different. Ask an American and they'll say "Buy a Harley! They're dirt cheap, parts are everywhere and anyone can fix them." Here in New Zealand Japanese bikes are the cheap and plentiful ones. For the last 30 years we have been getting cheap used imports from Japan (both cars and bikes) to the extent that, in fact, some bikes that have become rare in their home market we have been seeing shipped back to Japan.

And battery tech? Charging infrastructure? The breakthrough battery technology that is required is just as likely as a breakthrough fuel. The reality I see is that we will have both. Anybody that knows anything about proper adventure bikes would not be be looking at a GS................ Sustainable fuels is the way to go - that's the way the aviation industry is going. Electric vehicles with all the embodied carbon required for the infrastructure changes and increased required power demands are a much less environmentally friendly option - - the law of diminishing returns is also now impacting the increases in battery technology.. Politicians are fickle and will go after whatever votes will get them into power. People are now realising that apart from some short range/short duration applications electric is absolutely not the solution to todays and tomorrow's transportations needs, without a fundamental change in societal outlook, which will not happen as people have become used to the freedom their own powered vehicles give them, and there will be major push back against politicians going down the 'electric is the only solution' route, or trying to force people out of owning their own personal powered transport. People seem to forget they control governments, not the other way around - whether that be by the vote or ultimately taking up arms against them.
