always check behind the seats and under the seats . that’s where the good stuff is . i found a hunting rifle behind the seat in an abandoned 4wd . i fully restored it . sold it !
What's to save? You don't really know very much about Vehicles do you? The frame is bent badly if not broken. The entire front clip is destroyed. There is a better-than-average chance that the engine is ruined. A force like that could have broken the drive shaft upon impact with the harmonic balance. Certainly heavy rains since then would have gotten into the engine. Whatever fuel was left in the gas tank has gummed it up and the fuel lines. It's almost certain that brake lines are trashed and are useless. The wheels are probably bent. The interior is ruined the electrical system is no good. So what exactly are you going to rebuild? Assuming the block is not cracked you might be able to use it for a rebuild if you replace everything else on it. You could probably sell the battery for about 10 bucks to a salvage yard. But only a fool would try to rebuild something like this there's too many other vehicles that are in better condition
I really like this explore. It appears that someone had a very bad day in their jeep. I find abandoned vehicles down over hillsides all over the place here in Northern Nevada. Well done!

The chassis is bent in the middle from jumping it & the left rear tire is shredded so it was probably stolen. The windshield is out on the hood so it's likely the people went through it or had to kick it out to get out of there after crashing.
I never thought about the fact that it might be stolen, but if it was then it makes perfect since why they dumped it in a canyon hidden in all directions.
I found a 57 bel air on a river bank waaaaaay out in the sticks. *Just to be safe* I asked a CHP officer to make sure it was ok for me to haul it out. It was stolen 40 years ago ☹
@@DaveSuzukiExploration The cops hauled it out. There were alot of 40s-70s cars out there. Apparently it had been a dump spot for stolen cars for yeeeeeears until my dumb*ss went and told the cops. The farmers all knew of the cars but nobody cared. This was around 2005.

I think the truck may be stolen and that's why its up here someone may have taken it for a joy ride then trashed it up in the mountains, not sure but makes me wonder.
I know that's right, I bought a couple of Jeeps out on the East Coast the first thing I had to do was repair the undercarriage and replace Parts because of rust. They must dump a fuck ton assault on the road every year in the winter. They sell jeeps and vehicles pretty cheap out there when they get at least 10 years old. People that don't know any better look at it and think it's hell of a deal but you have to crawl under them and then you understand why. Which is lazy on the part of the person who owned the vehicle there is under coatings that can be sprayed on just about everything that can keep the corrosion from destroying the vehicle. Once I fixed them I coated everything
I remember in the 1970's the car dealers were pushing this undercoating called Zeibart, there were a lot of new cars&trucks with the little ziebart sticker in the corner of the windshield, and there was ALOT of rust bucket cars and trucks running around then as well.
I bet this truck is sentimental to someone out there, sad to think about the memories someone had with this truck and now its rotting away in the desert.
That's what they call a Jeep J-10 Gladiator(full size) pickup truck. Three different friends of mine have owned them and I still have the grill from one of them. That appears to still have either the stock 360 or 401 cubic inch AMC V8 engine and 3 of the original alloy rims....Cool beans!!!
Man ,there are still a lot of useable parts on that truck! I daily drive a J4000 and if getting a chance like this would have tried to get this truck for the parts. Also a good reason to clean mother nature!
That's exactly my thought, I dought the truck would ever be able to be fixed up due to frame issues, although there are still plently of parts on this truck that can still be used.
If I heard you right....,and I quote...no wonder they left it, it's automatic. Now that was cool. I liked that comment. I like standard transmissions as well. By the way, that's a 305 engine in that Jeep. The Jeep looked like a 78-79. I couldn't see the grill. Nice video by the way.
Yep I only own manual's, don't think ill ever buy an automatic. 304 engine bet your right about that, seen a few other comment's saying the same thing. Yeah unfortunately the grill was smashed real bad would have been nice to see the front of the truck.
hope someone will restore that awesome J10. I love old jeep pickups, have restored two during the last 5 years. Sadly I live in Germany, otherwise I would do this job fure shure.
Saddling you don't know anything about restoring a vehicle. There is nothing there to restore. Everything is destroyed. It's doubtful there are even many usable parts to use on something else. It's a real shame
@steve smith I'm not so sure. It's been sitting there a long time. They have flash floods out there all the time. I've been out in the desert and between the water damage, the Heat and dust damage oh, and the Rats chewing wires. You would be hard-pressed to find anything of value. Maybe some of the gears in the Axel's. But is it really worth it to go out there and risk getting hurt to retrieve it?
@steve smith I guess if you have the skill anything's possible. I hate seeing things just rusting away into nothing. Too bad someone didn't get it back when it first got left out there. I've located all kinds of wrecked vehicles with Google map around Superstition Mountain areas. I'm sure some enterprising person could get something off of them. If they don't mind the work. But your average person would be hard-pressed to be able to get very much
They wouldn't be worth the gas money to go out there and the hassle to climb down and remove them. And for all you know they are damaged. It's a safe bet and at least one or two of them are dented. The back tire is missing altogether.

Yep its a honda rancher, same as yours other than its a footshift model and still doing monthly payments :( It really is a rust free truck my best bet is that its probably lived most its life in the desert 🏜. I wonder if that truck, is like the CJ5,CJ7,keeps, that you can take appart, check the chassis for sure, and get it back into condition, since it is a true.AMC Jeep, not the Chrysler brand ones.
How did these old time miners decide where to start digging? That must have been a good size operation requiring plenty of personnel and animals. There is no apparent source of power. What minerals would they have been after there? When was the mine active?

that old jeep deserves to be rescued... it's all legit air-conditioned truck it's worth money those rims are worth money it can be fixed pretty easily not as bad as it looks
From the condition of the engine and trans im sure with some maintence the engine would run again if it was swapped in another vehicle, although the body of this jeep is pretty beat up not sure if the body could be saved. Thank you for commenting and watching, :)

@@DaveSuzukiExploration it can be fixed easier than you think... the hardest part of that build when it's all over would've been getting it out the desert... an though it might be an add on ac add-on kit... its period from that era... it's just metal bro it can all be put back...
This is not worth the money. To straighten out the bent frame, straighten the bent Bed, replace the entire front end, radiator etc, an maybe rebuild the motor and worst case cracked block, redo the interior, the only way this would be rebuilt is for personal use and that is a lot of time to do. Then since it was likely reported missing or stolen there's a paper trail to fix. This is best as a parts truck... The power train and cab have lots of reusable parts for another J10.
That might be the situation, like another comment said the chassis is bent from jumping it, which means the trucks definitely been abused at one point.
Cool find. Old buick powered jeep. Bet it broke the tcase off And folded it it cool places. What was the date on battery? Thhat would tell you how long s GB e sat there. Im. Thinking since early 90s
The Jeep J10 is basically a rare bird that lot of people like and would bring a little bit of money even in the condition that it's in it might even be worth a tow truck to come out and get it but then again it might just be trash costing more than it's worth
I guess it was so severely damaged in that accident that it would simply be not worth towing it away. Its structure seems to be so badly twisted that it would at most be good just for parts. So, after abandoning the whole site, the truck was just one more item left behind.
You're assuming it wasn't damaged in the crash. That much force on the harmonic balance could have snapped a drive shaft. And if the engine was still running for a while it would most likely be destroyed from overheating. And if the oil pan was is punctured there is even more problems. Also it's in a Gulch. So you never know if seasonal flooding may have filled it full of water. It would be a lot of work just to find out if it's even salvageable.
The cab was damaged in the collision, looks like the frame bent, sheet metal damage to the front. Probably not worth the effort to tow it out for whatever salvageable parts are on it. May have killed the engine as well trying to get unstuck
that would be the case where somebody was probably drinking beer having fun and they said I wonder what it would be like to send this truck down the hill and they proceeded to take the break off and push it over the edge and there it sits that's my assumption
Or it was just a normal person got out of their truck forgot to set the parking brake and it rolled down the hill and crashed and they left it could be just a normal simple story but no.. it has to be where somebody stole it did something really bad and that's such a better story right
You're right if I was dumb criminal I drive it way up in the mountains as far as I could and find some ravine to dump it in the longer it takes the better odds I don't get caught
By the way the driver door is over extended forward it was probably open when it crashed so it looks like it was wrecked intentionally so probably stolen or insurance fraud because it is very clear it was in great condition when it happened you can tell by the condition of the floor of the bed it's not all beat to hell and all the damage it has looks to be from when arrived where it sits now and judging by the way the fiberglass camper is sun rotted to the point it is it has been there for probably 15 to 20 years.
My guess is it was either stolen. But even if it was not it wasn't worth pulling out of there and trying to fix it. The frame is clearly bent. The engine may or may not have been very good before it went down the hill. But the front end clip is ruined. The motor may have been ruined. And it's a safe bet everything else is ruined. I don't even know if there were any parts on it that are salvageable. Not only that. We have no idea the conditions that caused it to wreck. If it had been during a storm, there may have been a lot of water running down that Gulch and flooded out the engine. The brakes may have been bad which could have caused the wreck. The engine could have been left on for a little while when it crashed and for that water it could have seized up. The oil pan could have been damaged by a rock on the way down and it could have thrown a rod fairly quickly. You just don't know. But whoever did know left it
I would have salvaged as many parts as I could from that truck. Heck, I would have taken almost the complete truck, leaving the busted frame and cab behind.
If it was me I would come back with rope a come long , a battery, oil and start it ,cause I bet it will run, And you can pull that out of there with a little work, Just dig out the back and front, To give your self moving room.
