Sipelu dance is a traditional dance associated with one of the over 25 ethnic groups found in Barotseland. This is a group of people who live in the southern end of Barotseland in Sesheke district. The women are dressed in a traditional skirt known as 'musisi' with a top known as 'baki' while the men are wearing 'siziba'.
In this dance, the women throw their musisi imitating the peacock. It is infact a 'peacock dance'.
Many other ethnic groups have unique traditional dances and we shall be taking a peep at some of them in future videos.

Reminds me of my Dads tribe the Lozi people in Western Province, Zambia. But then the singing sounds similar to the Tonga tribe in Southern Province, Zambia. We are truly one people. This is beautiful 😍

Thank you for the video. But please consider this minor correction; these are actually Malozi people in the Zambezi region( former Caprivi strip which is/ historically was, part of Barotseland ) in Namibia. Today, Sipelu in the Zambezi region is mostly danced by Masubia people who are essentially a Malozi sub-tribe group constituted by different ethnic heritages including Tonga lineage.
