I did hang around long enough to see Russ turn the heated handles on and they got hot, quick. I have cut in cold weather so long I would not know what do do with heated handles. When it was real cold I would let a saw idle and I would warm my hands by placing them on the muffler. My heavy leather gloves would protect my hands from the heat of the muffler. I want about five tanks on a saw before I put them to work but I have put them to work with only a couple of heat cycles and they have never shown any problems down the road that I could attribute to their rather abbreviated break in. However, I rarely do this, sticking to my five tank rule.

Oregon's speedcut bar's are pretty nice I've started using them on my small saw's that's what their designed for in .325 have seen them up to 20", I've been running 18'' I like these bars because of the small radius nose. I also pair them up with Stihl's newer 23RS pro (no safety bumper chain full chisel) both are narrow kerf cut (bar and chain) so a smooth but very fast cutting combo; don't think their made in 3/8''. Very light bars but they are kind of springy with them being laminated with aluminum, takes a bit of getting used to the "flex" in them. I know they have a 3/8'' version can't remember the product name but made very similar then again you already know that. Run the saws you want to use never mind saving them for someday down the road, guilty of this myself; life's to short sone enough time catches up with all of us. Always interesting to see the "collection" of different saws you and bob have squirreled away and when you guys finally break them out to cut some wood, thanks for sharing take care.

Versa cut is the regular kerf version if I'm not mistaken

I know Bob is cold. Knit cap and heavy jacket. I saw a 550 XP Artic the other day. It had the typical problems - dirty carb from running Ethanol fuel. It is a loud saw, because when my friend was checking it out I left. My ears are bad enough without listening to the roar of a jet engine.😢

You have one nice property/wood lot for getting fire wood. It's pretty swampy/mudding where im at, we wait until the ground is froze then skid our winters wood to a landing by a dry road so we can buck it up later. Bucking up a tree where it falls is a no go for me as I cant haul the wood home from there easily. I got some negative responses pointing out you dont need a long bar on videos claiming a long bar was so much better when the guy in the video was bending down dogging the saw in anyway so bar length didnt make any difference. I like a 16 inch bar on a hot rod 50cc saw or a stock 60cc saw for the smallish fire wood I cut up, im also only 5 foot 8 so im already close to the ground.

The older I get I like the longer bars (24"-28") and in the "sugi" line...they're NICE BARS...but also the Stihl light bars are nice too..but they're proud of those too. Been wanting to try different variations of chain but the Oregon EXL full comp. 3/8 is great chain but I find I have to "kiss" the rakers a little outta the box but other than that that's my preference in chain. I hear alot about Huskys C83 so might give it a go also. Love kicking around saws with you guys! I eat, dream and sleep it! Also with so much Stihl talk in my area...it's nice to come out and play with Huskies and Johnny reds...now ya talking! Enjoyed it guys! Take care

So a 560 is just a small mount 562 No other crank/topend differences?
@afleetcommand
@afleetcommand 6 месяцев назад
yup, that's about it. But "Small mount" also means a lot of things LIKE the pto end of the crank, pto side cover, bar oil pump parts etc are different from small to large mount saws as well. But yes from a "power" perspective, the top end, piston , transfer side covers , ignition, has stuffers on the crank , etc. are the same between a 562 & 560.

@@afleetcommand sounds like you imported all the gizzards to change one over. I can see how that can get very spendy.

Correct on the top end, carb and ignition. And any service bulletins I ever saw applied to both models

When is husky giving you your own 562?
@afleetcommand

Not holding my breath! I'm good as I really don't have much room for more saws :) BUT If Husqvarna is listening, the place where a saw and support SHOULD go is Bjarne Butler & his channel vs. the "entertainer's" .Bjarne is "real" and not only would he show the 572/585/92 well, they could learn from his experience. A two way street. That's my cut on the "free saw" thing. Not here, there is best.

@@afleetcommand I am just curious what's the difference between my 2 year old 562 xtorq and the new mark2. A apple to apple comparison. I think with the longer Dawgs and my tsumara 24 inch bar and a few hand filings. I can get it pretty close. I've been working through some monster maples and a 572 or bigger would be a better option
@afleetcommand
@afleetcommand 6 месяцев назад
A lot, starting with the cases. AND I left the 562 behind for my work a couple of years back. The 565 killed it. Just no reason for a 562 anymore when I can have a 565 with a 24 or 28 B&C. And it's been hassle free.
