The reasons why the timing was off for that motorcycle. Was mainly because of the big three manufacturers teams at the time. Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki. Ruled that sport at the time which is also why they up the manufacturers count to 1000. They wanted to eliminate all the small fry and keep the accolades and future sales to themselves and use the racing as advertising….. just like what they do in racing today. Same old, same old. Have to say though, man that engine is incredible. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I share the sentiment of other people here-what a shame this never came to fruition. I had a chance to meet Michael at Laguna Seca once. He was a super nice and down to earth guy. He is sorely missed. Definitely USA's only real shot at competing in MotoGP with an American bike.

I met Michael Czysz at the IMS show in Seattle in 2004. I really hoped he would succeed in putting an American made bike on the MotoGP grid, and it's a shame he did not before he died. I joked with him that If I ever won the lottery, I would gladly invest in his company, but sadly neither happened.

I've turned Titanium once, and it was a major pain in the butt until I switched to one of the polished positive rake inserts I had for aluminium. Then it wasn't too awful.

I'd love to know how he planned on cooling that engine anywhere other than a track. What's good in a race isn't always good on the road; transverse engines are easier to cool with airflow and a radiator not entirely hidden behind the front wheel, and the gyroscopic effects of the crankshaft make it easier to stay upright when some dumbass is keeping you at around the speed the gyroscopic effects of the wheels stops keeping you upright/

MotoGP, just like F1, was and probably still is, stifling innovation, in favor of keeping a flat playing field for the big 3 in the game (Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki). All three want to keep their positions in the sport, so they make the entry rules like unobtainium for smaller manufacturers. It's a damn shame when you have something like this that would possibly break the mold for ultra performance GP bikes, and it never makes it beyond the R&D stage.😝

i imagine a lot of engines that ever suffered some sort of regular head gasket failure could really be better with a solid one part head-cylinder....
@darylmorse
@darylmorse Месяц назад
@@smiththers2 Yes, but I don't think that aspect of the design would be practical for most types of engines. I was thinking of the single intake cam and dual exhaust cams, which allowed the intake and exhaust ports to be the same length. The uneven port length of the VR engines was not the greatest for performance or cooling.

Ésto no va a revolucionar nada, simplemente por ser más complejo e incrementar fricciones buscando mejorar la dinámica de fluidos y la termodinámica. El intento es loable pero no le veo futuro.

That's why Rossi got away with his bulling tactics, Rossi a bully on and off the track., ask Stoner, Gibanou, Biagi, etc he Rossi was a showman nothing more. If you compare his wins to Stoner in the same timeframe Stoner won more races, if you don't believe me look up the statistics. John Britten was a New Zealander and he built his engine in his Kitchen. There is a documentary on RU-vid look it up. So Was Bert Munro "worlds fastest Indian" he was a New Zealander also.
