Stay healthy and have a fantastic evening PS: To answer a couple questions: a) Yes, it's the same trackpad you have in a Macbook. It just doesn't use an aluminum finish but a rubber one so it doesn't scratch your display. b) The hinge allows multiple positions (flying, standing, different angles, but is not made for a 360 like the Surface Pro 7. c) There is a USB-C port on the keyboard itself but Apple hasn't confirmed yet whether you can use it like an additional USB-C or if it's just to energize the battery cell inside.

400 bucks is nuts, but yes - a rather fancy keyboard even though I still prefer the ones that come with the iMac and are great to use on my iPad as well.

Am I the only person that thinks what he has explained is the basic function of a keyboard with a trackpad??!! Like I’m taking crazy pills here! And for $400 dollars you cud buy another iPad

For a start it’s not $400. For the largest size it’s $350. Yes that’s pricey but if you bought the magic keyboard and trackpad separately and a hub with pass through charging and then a case, by the time you have added all of those together you are heading close to the $300 price point but then you have all of those items to carry around with you. What you are paying for is multiple devices in a compact and convenient price point. I was shocked at the price until I started to work out how much each individual element would cost as an alternative

So basicly they combined the price of the magic trackpad 2, the magic keyboard and the smart folio case and added som extra cost on top of that?

Ok that’s awesome... but can I run full versions of software programs like Logic X or Excel? At the end of the day it’s still an iPad with app versions of the the full software.

I’ve always believed in paying for a premium product and will stand by that today. I preach that at work to my coworkers and my friends and family when people ask me for my advice. BUT... this is a bit much. 350 plus tax isn’t 400 but still it’s up there if you’re planning on getting it for the 12.9 inch iPad. There’s nothing premium about this shallow key and cheap looking trackpad. I just can’t wrap my head around how Apple decided that 350 for a keyboard would be practical.

I bought the regular folio keyboard but I will be returning it. I wish Apple had launched this keyboard alongside the new iPad Pro because I really wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of returning something but I am not going to spend $200 for the folio keyboard and then another $350 for the magic keyboard. I already spent $1500 for the iPad and another $130 for the pencil. I can’t be wasting money like that.

Upgraded from iPad Air2 to this behemoth of iPad.

$400 is way too much. There’s no excuse. Once you pay the $900 for the iPad, the $400 for the keyboard and the $120 for the pencil you might as well have bought a MacBook. Edit: I bought one 😅😔

I’m not going to bother with the new keyboard or the new iPad Pro. I have the 12.9” 2018 model and the A12X Bionic chip in it is still a beast. That said, I am loving the new TrackPad support in iPadOS so I’m just enjoying it with a Magic TrackPad 2 I had. Works perfectly and frankly my existing Smart Keyboard Folio is perfectly fine to type with.

Today, when I tests the magic keyboard found that the amazing texts used for App. note, whereas App. pages, word and acrobat PDF can't selected text with easy. I hope the software engineering of Apple must edited the feature to many App. for the text management.

just waiting couple of months and they will made similar with this keyboard price around $20 in alibaba. haha

Apple has been doing this lately, and I’m sick of it. You should be getting more for the same or a similar price with each new iteration. Instead, Apple keeps the next iteration basically the same but it introduces an overpriced “premium” model with features that should be on the basic model.

For 400$ I could get a Samsung 2TB SSD plus 16BG of ram upgrade for my PC.

I’m just waiting for the iPad Pro fold with integrated backlit keyboard and trackpad..... to account for cost it will have no touch screen capabilities though which is fine. Just rework the OS to be suited to mouse and keyboard... price you say? The more money you have, the less expensive it will seem.

I know Apple usually offers pricey things but on this one I think they went too far. Like we’re talking about almost the price of an IPad Air. I don’t understand how an accessory can be so expensive, if they had sold it between 200-250$ I think it would be more affordable for students and people who don’t have a great income.

Apple is really taking its customers for fools with a $400 keyboard as many customers will use credit cards to buy the keyboard. Only the genuinely wealthy should buy it.
