1) You don’t have to touch the screen to exit an app. There as a trackpad gesture that works just as well. 2) Keyboard brightness is actually automatic.
two things. for the backlight for the keyboard, you can add a shortcut for that to you menu when you swipe from the top. as for spotify, just use split screen or set your airpods to skip/play/pause etc.
As a student, the keyboard design defeats the purpose of having an easy transition between writing on a tablet and typing. I've noticed that it doesn't hinge back all the way (360 degrees) so in order to write on it, I would have to take it out and lay it flat. However, when taking notes I usually prefer a slight angle to the screen. So this keyboard cover is a no for me.
Just so you know if you want to go to the Home Screen you don’t have to physically touch the iPad screen to go, you can just click the bottom bar on the iPad screen and it will take you to the Home Screen.
If anyone is coming back to this video, here are a couple things to note: 1. cmd + w now does in fact close apps with ease. 2. Taking notes and being in a Zoom call is now significantly easier with the new quick notes swiping up front the bottom right. Also multitasking in general is largely improved. 3. Fun fact, even though the trackpad is nice and clicky, if you’re like me and you just like to lightly tap on the trackpad to initiate a press, you can toggle that on in settings! Very useful. 4. The Magic Keyboard case feels amazing and makes it so much easier to carry your iPad around safely with style and a keyboard ready to go with trackpad any time you need it. It’s insanely strong and protects your iPad probably better than any other case would. Don’t forget iPad OS is always getting updates that makes the overall experience a lot more useable and enjoyable! Still not on laptop level but very good for most tasks people deal with.
@@zedmouse how is that possible when apple never implemented it ?i have both the 11 inch and 12.9 inch and their magic keyboards, and it doesn't work on both of them.
@@sarm227 that’s wild bc I promise you it works for me. Maybe it’s a hidden feature in the accessibility or keyboard settings, idk. I messed with that stuff a long time ago to set it up the way I want so maybe that’s all it is.
@@yashkhambhatta9536 Generally people don't understand if you give the exact timestamp when the words were spoken. Hence a few seconds earlier. The context starts at 1:03
“Have you ever tried to be on a zoom call and take notes at the same time on an iPad? Good luck. It doesn’t work.” Me after spending $1300 on an iPad for school online 👁👄👁
Hahah same, but there are ways to overcome this like Writing on a notebook, but if you like your notes to be on iPad you could record the lecture and take notes.
You can clearly see all the times he wanted to skip song but couldn't and how much he wants the iPad to be his main portable machine but it can't be because of it's limitations. There's conflict over there
@@catboy3471 ok, first, it is clearly a limitation made by a decision to not include any function key, so of course you can do it, but just way not making it simple. Second, it's clearly a rant about something that makes the experience far worst: you can go to the upper right corner, have the control panel and then skip, or you can three-finger swipe to the music app, or you can remove your finger from the keyboard, to open the control center manually; it's not incapacitating, it's just far less comfortable than having a button
@@rosyhvideo2587 the one youre talking about is either the the 4th generation not the new one OR the smart keyboard not magic. Its $350 on Amazon, more expensive the $300 MSRP straight from the Apple store.
This is the second review of yours that I've seen. The first was for the iPad Air 4. Straight forward, easy to understand, no gimmicks, no obnoxious music drowning out the conversation, plenty of detail with clear explanations of features and whether or not they fall into the "essential" / "nice to have" / "meh" scale to help those of us who are less knowledgeable determine how much we should spend. Extremely well done Sir. It is easy to see why you have 12.5 Million subscribers + 1 more.
You can afford anything, it’s all about the path you take to get it. All legal, all about the mindset. Trust I understand what you mean but I believe it’s possible even on this scale. Oh, and not actually needing it is another story, just referring to things you need.
Every year, apple comes with an iPad that is supposed to be a laptop and advertised like a laptop and every year mkbhd reviews it and ends the video with the same line, “it’s great but I still need my laptop”
Wow Marques coming under that secret society order he sellout bro wow I wasn’t expecting that I now noticed because I read this comment know wonder he always meeting all those big millionaires guys in the business because u have to be in a order to meet them 🤨
I am not sure how come someone can earn a living to show the rest if the world how to us a piece of tech. I would like to understand if he is an engineer that can provide a true opinion on design and tech or a brownie/blackie that needs to be recognized somehow.
I've had this iPad Pro, magic keyboard, and apple pencil for about 8 months as a student and it's amazing. If you're only taking notes and web browsing and do a lot of multitasking with apps side by side then this is just perfect.
My favorite is opening my textbook in the books app and my notes in the notes app side by side with multitasking :) I can highlight my textbook on the left, and write notes about it on the left
I was looking for the comment to make me buy this! I’m also a student and have the iPad Pro 11’. I’ve been longing to get myself a MacBook but I can’t justify the price for my level of use (which is you say mainly typing up essays and browsing). I also have a PC at home where I do the “heavy” work
HOLY HOLY!!! I can proudly say that I have the two HOTTEST women on this planet as MY GIRLFRIENDS! I am the unprettiest RU-vidr ever, but they love me for what's inside! Thanks for listening lavi
Ian Zelbo I was thinking the same thing. It was weird Ive never felt that way watching. MKBHD video. I was like Ummm thats not true. All the things he said you HAVE to touch the screen for is the very reason the trackpad is included. That’s before you get to the gestures.
Ben Humphreys that does not always work sometime for some reason iPad does not register Spotify is playing so I need to go to Spotify app to change. If I try to do it via right side pull down menu it will start playing beats radio
Abdulrahman Alghassab What a pessimistic view on life. Cheer up, my man! The first vaccine for the virus had a 58.3% Success rate, and the next one is well on its way. 2020 is just a hurdle, but we will jump it.
Ricky Stafford they won't make it 100% replace the laptop, then they'll lose the laptop market share of their business. But eventually it will replace the some how replace the laptop just as the laptop replaced the desktop. I give 3-5 years and it will replace the laptop👍🏻
There’s a third type of person, those who flip the the case behind the iPad and use it like an iPad, then flip it back for some quick typing. this case cant do that.
Yeah I thought there should have been a deeper look at the short comings of the case than there was. No way to provide a tilt for drawing or anything like that, no way to flip the keyboard so it's underneath/behind the screen (Helpful when watching a movie on an airplane with a small tray table.. They're charging such a premium for this case that it should be able to do all that.
Bryan Morera That is correct: the Smart Keyboard only goes back as far as what is shown in the product marketing and in the reviews. Even with “magic” in the name, this thing can’t escape simple physics. Frankly, I’m on the fence about returning mine (provided that the UPS driver stops f’ing around and delivers it today like he’s supposed to ...). Either way, I’m holding onto my iPad Pro’s Smart Folio keyboard and I anticipate switching between the two based on context. I’m trying to wrap my head around this being more of a very capable keyboard/trackpad dock than a keyboard case.
Great review. I have switched over to this combo in lieu of getting a new laptop and I can tell you I much prefer it. Here are the main reasons why: number one, and I cannot stress enough how awesome this is, SIM card internet. I have internet wherever I am all the time. 2, I love the touch screen, even when using it in laptop mode (on the magic keyboard). 3, love to use it with apps, notable are PDF editors where you can edit PDFs and sign and send back using the Apple Pencil etc. For multi tasking: You didn’t use the split screen function! You can have your zoom call and spotify, works great :-) Yeah its a little heavier than a laptop, yeah it is a bit Top heavy and yeah I find myself looking for the missing escape button (although less and less as I figure out the hot keys etc) but the versatility is unbeatable. Lastly it just feels so premium from top to bottom.

DuckPin2011 Hi honey, I know you really like the thing you are using but please use the thing I like. I’ll even throw in convincing arguments like “it costs too much” and “it’s crapple”. Wow, you completely ignored me. That’s so surprising”
when a samsung phone from 2018 still acts as a proper PC replacement than apples latest attempt ,oh and has a proper mouse pointer FYI, its funny how its overpriced keyboard has no flex unlike the actual tablet it requires lmaooo, well done apple, giving us all a good laugh
So what do you think about the EOSO TOUCH PAD KEYBOARD CASE the keyboard is magnetized you can take the keyboard off the case and just leave the table inside the case it's self and on the keyboard you have a option to change any color on the keyboard please let me know brother 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾💯🏆
This is a criminally-UNDERRATED comment Baller-X! I feel the same way... I was totally set on getting this new ipad, but for the total price plus keyboard I will end up getting the macbook air most likely
@@pulkitrana590 Oh sorry, I didn't know that. I'll never use it again. Thanks for pointing me that out xD. Anyway, I've tried to show that no one was talking about Illuminati before that shirt came out, and I guess there were no requests for that review (opposed to Magic Keyboard requests). Sorry for spoiling the joke, but some idiots like you need the explanation.
IMHO: Even though iPadOS has been an improvement for a more robust “computing” experience on iPad, it still falls very short - specifically in terms of the iPad Pro being a monster of a device, plus now this amazing keyboard. It’s now time for Apple to either bring iPadOS a few steps closer to macOS, or just wrap up on a full merge between both systems. With the specs on the iPad Pro, you can more than ever feel the software staying significantly behind the hardware; iPad OS really feels like “iOS Office Edition”, rather than the “what’s a computer” concept that Apple it trying to push.
hate to tell you sunshine but the ipad pro's "pro specs" would choke on a real OS. It's why they haven't done it and honestly it's hilarious. Apple always touting "it's the most powerful hardware out there" but the software limits it to maybe 30% of all that power so.... ok.
TAGE FPV right, which is why he’s saying that the right software could really use the iPad to its fullest potential, and do it without sacrificing speed or reliability. Questionable whether battery would suffer, but at that point you have to ask if you’re a power user and should really be using a tablet/folio setup for whatever it is that you do.
@@TAGE_FPV No, It's not the fastest but it doesn't need to be as iPad OS doesn't need a i7 processor 2080 ti but even if you run windows on iPad it would be faster than a surface go. So don't provide false information just because you can't grade arm chips
TAGE FPV considering that when the 2018 iPad Pros came out they were more powerful than almost every MacBook Pro up until that point, I’m gonna say citation needed on that one
Just an FYI about having to touch the screen for a few functions: you can in fact do all of this stuff from the trackpad itself. Swiping to the top right on the trackpad and swiping up a again will bring the drop down to adjust volume, screen brightness, skip tracks, etc... swiping to the far right of the screen and then swiping right once again will bring up the slide over apps. I usually dock Spotify as a slide over and then access things here as well. Works rather well actually. Cheers! Edit: I imagine Apple will add a control center shortcut at some point for adjusting/turning off keyboard brightness. 2nd Edit: Yeah this isn’t an ideal solution, but if having to touch the screen was a deal breaker for buying this keyboard, you don’t have to touch it and it’s not too bad. Not good, but not bad.
Infosmercial Interacting with menus in the screen even via the track pad is still not comparable to having a row of dedicated hardware buttons to quickly and directly do what you need to do.
As someone who’s completed 40% of my master’s degree online utilizing only my iPad, I can tell you for probably 80%-90% of people, you can use an iPad as your dedicated machine. The 10%-20% of outliers would be heavy creative content, like significant video or audio production. I can work from it as well, and I do indeed have teams calls and take notes at the same time, or watch class lecture and take notes at the same time.
The iPad is a great tablet. I’d say it’s the best on the market. When paired with an Apple Pencil it really shines. One of the best tech purchases I ever made. In an odd chain of events, the way I was able to use it got me a job doing something I seriously enjoyed. That said, it still wasn’t replacing a laptop. It handles a lot of my light tasks, but it’s still limited in what it can run.
