Hi Tony and thanks for watching. Yes we will definitely revisit on a clear winters night. The clouds were a bit of a pain but work a little bit with nightscapes, got to work with what you got sometimes.
Aahhhh those magnificent men and their flying machine....um... I mean.... boys and their toys. Nice to see you guys getting out under the stars - I just worried you guys are going to turn into French flans. I kind of like the arty-ness of the stars through the powerlines.

Great video mate looks like you two had a laugh to, Rho Ophiuchi is on Nicky's bucket list to but it's gonna be a tricky one to do, one day maybe? We're at Kelling right now looking out the window at our scopes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that are covered up as its persisting down with rain so dunno if we'll manage to image anything but who knows. This is what this game is all about, clouds/moon and how to avoid them and if you cant then make the most of them. Long live the Astrobus. There is a definite trade off for dslr uncooled noise vs versatility and on nights like this there is a clear winner. I dont mind the cables, its a reminder that this is earth, this is us.
It is all about working with what you’ve got, its fun to strip back to just a dslr and tripod, I liked the cables and the way they added to the image, sort of sectioning the sky. Thanks for watching and yes long live the Astrobus, clear skies

Sorry you were blighted a bit by cloud (welcome to my world!) but still some great images and timelapse. 👍 Slightly envious of your drone….. I think I may have to add that to the armoury at some point!! I’ve got a dream of trying drone-based aurora timelapse one day. Thanks for sharing. 🫡
Hi Paul and thank you for watching. I have had some thoughts at what I could do with the drone re astro and will definitely be experimenting. The Aurora would look amazing and I know my drone has a timelapse setting although it can only stay up for 30mins at a time.
Hi Glenn, Simon, Interesting video incorporating a widefield view using just a DSLR camera and a tripod. It seems that clouds have a tendency to follow you guys.

As I live in a flat with no garden, I have no option but to travel. The upside is I travel to dark sites within 1 hour of home. last night I got 4 hours on M33 and had planned for another 4 on the witch head, but it is still a little too low. No money for an Astrobus, but i can only dream. BTW photopills is great for planning moon shots with a foreground interest
I really enjoy venturing out and have a few trips and ideas planned soon. Its good you don't let the restrictions stop you. I liked the look of Photopils even though it looked very involved. Thanks for watching, clear skies.

Hi Jeremy. The one I have is the DJI mini 2 SE. Simon has the DJI Mini 2 which is 4K where mine is just 2,7K so a little cheaper. To be honest you don't really notice the difference. There are a few models so it depends on your budget. There is now the Mini 3 and the mini 4. These are the better drones in my opinion as they are under 250grams and so have much more relaxed laws for use. Happy to chat with you more if you have any questions mate.
