I am a hardworking factory worker in Canada who loves audio and it is my dream to have the LCD-XC cans and the carbon fibre headband along with the Audeze premium cable assembly available in their website which i previously had not looked into. Those are some beautiful headphones. Had to cancel my order because they are on back order in Germany and I had already waited a few months until it pissed me off. Might try again in the future.
Hi my friend! Thank you for sharing such a lovely story and showcasing a headphone that I have loved and owned for absolute years. The XC is a bit of a temperamental headphone. Needs a great dedicated headphone amp, good recordings and I find you need to EQ them, especially in the treble region around 8 to 16k. Once EQ’d properly these headphones become a technical marvel with incredible slam. The Schiit Loki mini+ is a terrific 4 band analog/hardware based equalizer that absolutely kicks ass with the XC. XC responds so well to EQ. Don’t be shy. ✌️
I treated them with Cardas contact enhancer, bought a Felix Audio echo MKII tube amp (don't ask me how, but it's a match made in heaven). And now for Christmas I have a set of Dekoni elite sheepskin pads on the way to replace the stock protein pads. My Kimber kable Axios really elevated the sound from the stock cord. I know of these losses in my own life, and got a little choked up with you when you opened the case. Thanks for sharing the personal tribute about him. I went back to watch your videos again. I just stepped into the headphone pool myself, purchased the Dan Clark Stealth and Ferrum HYPSOS power supply + OOR discrete headphone amp. I'm thinking of the AXIOS cable upgrade also. I'm hoping to be able to try all three before deciding on a model if Kimber offers a try-before-you-buy program. I'm leaning toward the Hybrid model, but I would save up the extra scratch if I knew SQ was perceivably better with the Silver. Researching but not finding much information on customer experiences with the AXIOS cables. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right spots. Again, thanks for sharing, and ignore the negative zealots because it's supposed to be a fun hobby.

@@vpconcepts9838Yes, I mean higher end open-back planars, like Hifiman Arya, HE1000 or similar. Audeze open-backs also get better reviews that close-backs.
To be honest my HD600 are so magical with the kimber kable copper Axios & Feliks tube amp, I haven't felt the need to upgrade. With my Audeze using a 4k kimber kable hybrid Axios & Feliks as well, I feel like I can't get any better for the various types of music I listen too. But with all things, there is "Always" something better 😂👌💯🎼✨
My impression from reviews I've seen is the Meze Empyrean has a softer, more relaxed presentation. So it all comes down to system synergy and personal preference.
