Ben Chonzie is a Munro situated in Perthshire, Scotland, and sits at 931m (3054ft) high. It is my 8th Munro and has been the easiest climb to date with a Land Rover track leading most of the way up the route until you eventually turn off around the 720m mark.
I was fortunate this day to get some superb views across the more northerly Munros and fabulous views south towards Crieff.
For my first Munro in over a year it was a perfect way to get back into it and get the bug for bagging again.

Did Ben Chonzie last October (2022) - Great day out but the top was surrounded in cloud and the rain came down in Biblical fashion as soon as we reached the summit. Got to the bottom absolutely soaked but still worth it.

@AScotsmanOutdoors 10 месяцев назад
Oh I've had my fair share of soakings on the hills so can sympathise completely! I really enjoyed Ben Chonzie but that could have been because it was a simple ascent, the weather was great, it was my first one after lock-down restrictions eased or a combination of them all. Between all of that and being not long after my dad had passed away, I have to admit I had a brilliant day as it was such a de-stressor.

Such an absolutely beautiful area...love all the stones...makes it all very moody and interesting...looks like you are seeing a few signs of spring...spring is still holding out on us here in Nova Scotia on the other side of the pond...take great care now and hope you are enjoying a great weekend!

Hi there, it definitely is a beautiful part of the world and without being biased too. As far as I'm aware Nova Scotia isn't too shabby on the eyes and if it's anything like the province's I've visited (Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC and Yukon) then I'm sure it's just as impressive as Scotland. Apparently spring is here but that wind at the top was less than spring like in all honesty. Thank you for watching and I hope you got something from it. I'll be hitting the hills more and more with our Covid restrictions easing so hopefully I can show you some more wee gems.

Hey mate, it was a blessing to be out again after all that's been going on and there will be a lot more from here on. I'm glad you liked the wee drone bits. I think it adds just that wee bit and can really show off some parts and give more perspective, so long as conditions are right 😂 Saw you out with Robiniho and Kev. I've yet to be above an inversion but that's just something else to chase. I hope your knee is better mate.

Brilliant stuff and glad you liked it. Which Ben Vorlich did you do? The one at Loch Earn or Loch Lomond? I've yet to climb the one at Loch Lomond but hear that's quite cheeky. If you have done the one at Loch Earn then you'll be accustomed to Ben Chonzie and like I say in the vlog, the last 1km or so is really flat and enjoyable. Let me know what Ben Vorlich you climbed and if you go for this one.

Plus if like to visit Culty Braggan and have a look around. Glad I could help with this route and I'm actually going to link a GPX file into the description (actually forgot to) so you can look at the route I took. It'll be on Outdoor Active, which is the new ViewRanger site. Thanks for watching and, again, glad I could be a help.

Excellent video squire, nice drone work too. 👌🏼 The Honz gets an unfair press to be honest, it's a cracking approach from Loch Turret, particularly with a bike. No scrambling unless you want that. 😁

Thanks mate. It was a cracking day all round to be fair in terms of weather etc. I've obviously never climbed this one before but have now read about the Loch Turret approach and the "possible" scrambling from that side. @@WalkWithWallace I'm going back up Ben Lomond tomorrow with friends from work. Some are new to it and want to see what Munro bagging is all about but the weather forecast isn't too great from all accounts. After that I'm looking at going back up Ben Vorlich for a summit camp and to bag Stuc a'Chroin the next morning because last time I was up the weather was rubbish and I left that. Following that I have an eye on Beinn Bhuidhe but from Glen Shira because there are a few things on the map I want to see. That'll be a big walk in and out but hopefully worth it and yeah, that's about my immediate plans 😂 Yourself?

Thanks for sharing your walk with us. I used to live in Auchterarder and was a frequent visitor to Ben Chonzie from the Loch Turret side. Only did the walk in your vlog once so it brought back good memories. Just a small point. At 10:00 minutes you correctly caption Ben More then captioned the snow capped peak to the left as Stob Binnien. Pretty sure that's Ben Lui. (Ben More / Stob Binnien are part of the same group)
@AScotsmanOutdoors
@AScotsmanOutdoors 2 года назад
Hey Mike, thanks for watching and it's nice to hear it's brought back memories. I've watched Scotland's Mountains do a loop around Loch Turret recently so I might head up that one day. You're right, Ben More and Stob Binnein are in the same rage, pretty much right next to each other (my Two Munros One Day vlog shows this if you fancy a watch). I've double checked my markings and they are correct. Ben Lui is the snow tipped peak that sits just under the 'e' of More in my tag. I hope this helps and I appreciate your keen eye none the less.

@@AScotsmanOutdoors You're absolutely right. It's back to mountain recognition 101 for me. I realised my mistake after you kindly responded to my comment and then I used my OS account to do an aerial 3D flyby. Yeah, I saw Murray's vlog last week. Always great viewing. My preference was to walk over the dam and up to Meall na Seide. Once saw a colony of hares in winter raiment. Very well camouflaged.

Hi mate, it was a superb day in all fairness save for the wee wind but even that wasn't too bad and kept the clouds interesting. I'm hoping that's keen in a good way, I'm intrigued 🤔😂 The summit is a bit rocky but there is loads of areas for camping, absolutely loads, and apparently the name means "the mossy mountain" (or words to that effect) which it seemed. I would even say you'd get away without a roll mat / pad at some points it's that soft but not marshy. Thanks for watching mate and let me know if you head up.

They own the tracks to the south east and say there's no way up from their side and to contact Invergeldie for the track we're talking about. After a lot of searching, I can't find any contact details for that estate so I can't get any definitive answer really. Without heading back there or you taking the chance and driving up, I really don't know where else to go but it is Invergeldie estate whose land that track is on.
