For those of us olde enough to remember Majesty, I don't think many games tried to replicate its hands-off gameplay. Admittedly, I never saw the first Necrosmith. Will be trying out the playtest!

i keep thinking back to majesty and dungeon keeper. i dont know if a game like that wotks today though bc all the triggers will be on wiki right away plus ppl even explicitly thinking about triggers and such.

It is a bit like Majesty but very basic in comparison. Heroes of Orn is a lot closer.

Alawar really had a huge jump in quality. Necrosmith and Wall World were okay, but then Wall World got a DLC and the production quality was a massive jump between it and the base game. It looks like necrosmith is getting the same treatment.

tried the playtest for a bit today, could do with a little polish, but definitely worth keeping an eye on. defence can be difficult, and without the big shiny skelly you can make, i don't think you're supposed to beat the playtest boss, but at least you get a timer before it spawns.

the way around not being able to have defenders in the first one is have heavy weapons on small frame so they had zero speed so couldn't move turning them into effectively into a turret for the castle

I always thought the first one was a bit lacking, and it got very boring towards the end. Looks like this has fixed most of the things I had issue with so it's a solid sequel.

I'd highly suggest to play a few more rounds of the demo. You unlock new stuff the more rounds you play like this new Titan monster where you can grow special parts to make like a boss type monster for you that can go against the other boss

Is there a way to recall units during the day or for healing; or is it intended that this is more of a resource flow game than a unit-coddling game and it's all about ensuring that expendable sacrifice units turn a profit before their inevitable deaths?

Never heard of the first game, but this looks really really good! I think my only (petty) complaint is whatever the heck the necromancer is doing on the main tower menu. It's very... overly animated. But the cat has sold me.

Literally my only worry is that like the first game I’ll binge it in 30 hours and feel done with it. Amazing concept but idk unless they expanded the map massively. Or have different maps to conquer or some other mechanic that adds replay-ability, complexity, or diversity then I’m down. Gonna buy it either way. Just hope it’s not sooooo goood and then I beat it so fast 😢

The first one's been on my wishlist since you first showcased it. This one looks nice but it seems to have very few differences with the original game. I'm glad I never got around to buying it. I'll wait and see what's the price tag for this compared to the first.

the game was nice but i was disappointed with it's shortness and lack of updates now i see why it was abandoned so quick, they just moved on to the 2nd installment. why? looks and feels exactly the same. could this not have been a DLC?
