An Evening with Richard Rohr 

I remember when I first discovered Rohr. He sounded so opinionated and self righteous I disliked listening and stopped, until about 2 years later when I re-stumbled on his videos, but this time it was completely different, I really understood the value of his teachings. Funny thing is, every once in a while in his speeches he will admit his faults of sounding opinionated and righteous sometimes, and now I just think "no, you're the best." I've been listenening for years. Those of us who appreciate him are so fortunate that there is so much online material from him.

I am a Catholic who believes in Universal Love. Thank you father Richard Rohr for opening my heart to a new route full of hope. Unity In Diversity!

I can't stop to listen to this wonderful man and Father. Richard you are the most valuable gift I ever had in my lifetime.

He is my lifeline. I forget how I stumbled into his works. But I want to believe God put Fr Rohr in my path. And brought me closer to God.

Are these strangers building walls? The pope recognized the martyrs of the Anglicans not too long ago. We are seeing true ecumenism happening right here. He is right, Christ ate and drank with prostitutes and the riff raff of society.... why can’t we drink with each other ? Why can’t we eat together?

This is funny Father Richard....went out to a meal with some friends, one was a priest and the other a teacher. As we left I assumed that My meal had been paid for....I am still wondering...when the priest asked me if I was having trouble with money? I can't find the restaurant to pay for my meal! Your are "awakening". Washing away the illusion that your are not a son of God! That you are not a daughter of the Lord! It is awakening what is already happening and what has always been true.

Rohr does not believe in the efficacy of the blood of Jesus given for our salvation by God. He imagines in his redefined theology that it is too violent to understand God in that way when in Scripture it defines the depth of human depravity. Isaiah 53 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him…. for the transgression of my people he was punished….Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin…” 1 Peter 1:18-19 “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God”

God (who is Trinity) was talking to the other Elohim, who Job tells us danced and rejoiced as the Lord created us. They are made in his image too. It's just the heavenly host. Christ even made them, too. He made, and is in, everything seen and unseen. If that passage is the Trinity talking to itself, then we also have that same entity arguing and condemning itself later on. No, plural Elohim is simply a place of residence term..... the spirit realm (which is our meager term for something much grander). The Creator God was talking to His Heavenly Host, who He created before us.... "Let us make man in our image," but with the caveat that the Most High is the only creator. The other Elohim sang and danced with joy watching it all unfold.

The word christ means anointed one. Why still hold on to these ancient Bronze age myths. Why not just work on personal spiritual growth, and let go of the stories best suited for young children and the very elderly?

Could it be that we've made Jesus so much God, that we've made God also human ...?

We can incorporate a more robust view of the Trinity without lessening Jesus and who He was and what He came here to do. Jesus is the eternal Christ, but he also isn't, just as He is the Father, but He isn't. He's fully human, but He also isn't, and is fully divine. It's beyond us to truly understand it. Rohr comes very close to it, I believe, saying it's about the relationship between them more so than the singular being itself.

Yes your right, God The Father doesn’t critique us. The Old Testament says God is too pure to see iniquity. Oh by the way to say Roman Catholic is an Oxymoron.

I am not sure if there is anything in Christianity that was not in previous and ancient religions,. Every concept can be traced back much earlier. Richard Rohr certainly likes to talk yet he provides no reason why anyone should follow his rereading of Truth..

I think he is a heretic.

It is obvious that this guy never reads his Bible. Or, he does read his Bible but skips the parts he doesn't like. How about reading the following, Mr. Rohr. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (Rom 1:18) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (Joh 3:36). And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
