Hi Freddie thanks for sharing . As an older biker , in the late 70’s early 80’s many of us wore Belstaffs as they were a much cheaper alternative to the most basic of leather Jackets. My first was £18 in 1980. ! I would agree with you about the Belstaff quality in today’s clothing but that comes at a premium price beyond the reach of many folks. Merlin , another British brand of equal quality but more reasonably priced. Kind regards Phil.
Hi Phil, I agree that the styling of the Merlin is very very similar but in the first month owning the Merlin jacket ALL the poppers fell off, they did send me replacements but thats not the point really .
Hello Andrew . I’m truely shocked. I know quite a few people with these jackets and you are the first person I have heard of with a problem. Glad to hear it was resolve.
So interesting, I had no idea Belstaff jackets used to be an affordable option. Merlin’s a good shout! I’ve only ever tried one pair of their boots but their gear looks very good and at a very fair price👌🏻 Thanks Phil!
I wish I had kept my Belstaff jacket from the 80's certainly would not fit me but kids would appreciate it, only protection it had was a tartan lining. Congratulations on a years utube success.
Great video Freddie, I can also confirm that that pizzeria in the pub car park is also haunted and the ghost of the 15th Century Italian pirate “Captain Pepperoni” is regularly seen having been scuppered after a long session on the Scruttocks Old Dirigible in the boozer.
Congratulations on your year anniversary, it's been a great ride with you both. Another great video and just what I love to do, go for a ride for the day, can't beat it. Honda make good engines, personally I don't think you can't beat them for reliability and power. I know a lot of people do stick to a manufacturer or certain countries, Japanese, American,Italian etc. That's the great thing about bikes, something for everyone. Safe journey back to Tenerife.
Thanks Dale!🙌🏻 I agree; Honda are unbeatable for reliability and power💪🏼 It really is the beauty of biking; so much choice and affordable for all (relatively speaking!)🏍❤️🤘🏻
Congrats on 95 videos, to both of you. You're doing an extremely extraordinary job (to say it with Freddie's words) Keep going! I really enjoy your content so much, and it inspires me a lot! Cheers :)
Excellent video, tested Rebel after watching your enthusiasm for the model and bought one. DCT what a fantastic system, thanks for your thoughts on the model and also thanks for the 70th birthday shout Cheers Roger 🍻
Going back to those Clocks marked with Ipswich, in the Manor Haus, "Google Rich Cole, Ipswich", and yo'ull see why they are there.... and I thought Switzerland was THE country for watches and clocks! Fantastic choice of music once again Monika, you always hit the spot with your choice, to do your fabulous editing justice. Greets from Switzerland, Steve.
Thanks for your blogs Freddie, was in Tenerife and Barcelona the same weeks you were there, I have the BMW K1200LT , I’ve had it 15 years now.The bikes are heavy at low speed but beautiful to ride on the motorway, they also have cruise control and heated seats and backrests and are surprisingly nippy, Lastly I’d like to say thanks to Monica for her excellent editing and music used on the blogs.
Hondas have been such dependable, well made bikes from the beginning and I'm sure that 1100 is no exception! I've always been awed by their ability to keep running regardless of mistreatment but they also have lacked the "intangible" lack of personality. Your endorsement has pretty much nailed this model. Thanks for another video combining a tour and a test!
I will have to check out the Woolpack and Christchurch park as usually head straight to the marina when I visit Ipswich. Congratulations on reaching a year and 95 great videos, Cheers Freddie and Monica
Fantastic as always and great to see how well the channel is doing. Just a few thousand when I first subscribed,. congratulations to you both - well deserved 😀
I can't even remember how I found you guys. Love from NZ by the way. I got addicted with the Tenerife vids and now I'm searching older vids......charming...energetic...amazing bloody places that I've never seen...fabulous videography..thanks Monica and thanks also for your laughs and comments..just brilliant..and...most of all I think I love the love...love for odd cars...love for where you are...love for cool riding gear..love for any type and any make of bike...that is cool. Honda Cub? Go back and look? HELL yeah!! Take care guys. Ride safe and be happy.
Nice one Freddie and Monika, always informative and interesting, only skirted around Ipswich on my way to nearby Saxmondon where my sister used to live, nice part of the UK.....
Another great video. I will have a ride to Ipswich and visit the Marina, Park and Manor House when the weather improves. Even the Rebel is starting to look appealing but Monika must have been in pain on that pillion seat.🍻
Happy anniversary, Freddie & Monica! I've enjoyed each and every one of your videos. I must ask who selects the background music for your vlogs? They're outstanding!
Love the jacket! Dare not think about how much it cost. I love the UK, it's a brilliant, diverse place to live. I just wish the weather was better, the work hours shorter and the cost of living less. Never get the time, money or weather to enjoy much of it!
@ if I had that sort of money to spend on a jacket, which I don't, I'd consider £300 expensive but fair if it was well made. £525 is taking the Michael, that's just getting cash from the badge seeking hipster rich sorts.
Thanks Rob, it’s a stunning quality jacket but you’re right- it’s a lot of money. I can’t argue with any points you’ve said as they’re points I often discuss with Monika. We live in what’s classed as an expensive property here in Tenerife, but it’s still only £870p/m with all bills included for a 3bed, 2bath, 2balcony flat, and it’s 22 degrees all year round, and is light until 19:30 in February. It’s a stunning quality of life🙂🏝🇪🇸👌🏻
Fantastic video Freddie! I've got a house packed with four kids, two cats, and a dog. And I love them all to bits - but your videos have become a welcome half hour or so of zen for me. Thanks much!
Freddie & Monika - this is superb content & attention to detail - subscribers numbers will follow & keep up the excellent work from a freezing cold UK / East Sussex ... NOW RAIN LOL
Thanks, Freddie & Monica, for this great little tour, and happy anniverary! I've never been to Ipswich, but now I'll have to go. My uncle has a friend who's from those parts, and I'm sure they'll both want to see this.
We have a white cat, too. And it loves its carboard box. I don't share your enthusiasm for the jacket but I do the CMX 1100. I'm going to get one as soon as I've sold the 390.
Great way to spend a Sunday morning, another great video guys. Can't believe its been a year! I first joined after seeing your Isle of Wight tour videos and enjoyed the channel ever since ✌
Hello from New Brunswick, Canada where our riding off season is about six months long. Your videos have provided me with a motorcycle fix during this time. Love your enthusiasm and story telling.
Excellent video, reference the BMW K1200LT you looked at , I've owned mine from new (17 years), I've toured all over Europe on it and love it to bits, it's a big old girl to manoeuvre in tight spaces and you need to think about where you are going to park it but once its moving its surprisingly nimble, I've ridden across numerous city's including Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Geneva and Prague and its size is often an asset, it's got real road presence and traffic more often that not just moves out of the way.
My first Belstaff waxed cotton bike jacket was purchased in 1978 (I was 16) for the sum of £18, to go with my first bike, a secondhand MZ150 that I’d bought from my uncle for £160. I “upgraded” to leather a few years later, along with a Honda CB250, but still miss that unmistakeable smell. Fully agree that Christchurch Mansion is a hidden gem, along with the surrounding park and tea room. Hopefully you are back safely in the Tenerife sunshine by now; enjoy it as I’m sure that the next few months will fly by before your return to the U.K.
I am still trying to catch up on all your videos so I just got a look at this for the first time . I love history and I would so dig going around that mansion . I am a Chef by trade and I worked in a haunted restaurant at one time . You look over your shoulder a lot . I have to switch to a smaller bike because of age so i was considering the Rebel 500 . I enjoyed this video
Thanks for a fab year of really eclectic videos Monika and Freddie.I'm not even fussed about bikes.Loved exploring the house with you.Best bit 20.20 ish.something along the lines of Freddie says" I'm starting to get freaked out, look at that horse"refèring to a toy rocking horse.Monika giggling"whats wrong with the horse"Brilliant!
So going back nearly 44 years and my first biking jacket was a waxed cotton Belstaff Jacket, I wished I still had it, aparently they are gaurenteed for life (although my six pack was not! haha) I have watched since you was camping in the new forest (I think) with the ponies being a bit troublesome. keep up the great work, I think I have been posting for about 1.5 years and I am happy that I have 50 subscribers haha, but then your content is that much better than mine. Ian Back on Two Wheels
Another brilliant video! Love the travels. Your jacket is brilliant! 😀 Congrats on the one year and 95 videos! I can’t believe it’s been that long. You and Monika are really living your best lives, and that is an amazing thing. Keep it up!! Cheers.
Huge congrats Freddie and Monika have loved your videos. That jacket is gorgeous (Dear Santa……..!) Looking forward to more content. Best wishes Dave n Ed 👍
Happy YT Anniversary. Started watching as you are not that far from me when in Ipswich. Love the videos and following your stories and journey. Keep up the great work.
Congrats Monica and Freddie, on the one year anniversary and almost 35k subs! What an amazing journey - great work guys! I have been with you all the way and have enjoyed every single video! Its been so entertaining and inspiring - I'm accutally packing my z1000sx in september, and I will take off for Portugal, staying there for 6 months+ And I might take a few weeks in Tenerife.. I hope some day I will have the honor of meeting you out there on the roads somewhere. All the best to you guys!
Happy Anniversary and congratulations on reaching a milestone of one year. It’s been loads of fun to date, and I’m looking forward to your 100th video.
Congrats on your first year of RU-vid! You guys have done so well and kept your contents very original, a bit of bike, a bit of travel content and lots of coffees 😀☕️. Thought with all the spooky stuff at the pub and the mansion I was expecting one of the mannequins to move!! 👻
@21:05 That "unexplained noise from the microphone" in the haunted house sounded uncannily like the TV interference sound in the Poltergeist movie... "They're heeeeere..."😱 Congrats on the Channeliversary! 👍
Oh man! I loved the haunted pub and house, you should do a pub crawl but for haunted ones haha. Loved it! And please keep the videos coming, love all the adventures. Take care you guys, cheers!
Loved this video. As a new subscriber, started when you were in Tenerife, I am enjoying your enthusiasm, your partnership with Monica and your appreciation of the surroundings and the machines you ride and encounter. You and I would get on famously were I still in my 30s, you are the typical English gentleman but without the airs and graces, just down to earth. The mix of the biking chat with the joy of your surroundings is a very enjoyable mix and long may your success continue. Best Wishes to you both, safe travelling and can't wait to see more of your exploration of Tenerife, I dropped a few pointers a few viseos ago 😉. Thanks and Take care.
Congrats on 12 months I’m an ardent follower of your Chanel and always look forward to your next vlog . I’m a bonneville rider and ordered a tiger for later in the year and would love to see you review and ride one of these bikes with Monica . Well done chaps.
Another tremendously enjoyable and entertaining video. By far, the most creative departure from the many ordinary and mundane motorcycle videos in this space. You take the viewer beyond a singular focus and into the greater world around. The motorcycle is your canvas while your style, presentation, and remarkable destinations become your brush. Bravo! I've been referring your channel to other enthusiasts around the Boston, Massachusetts area.
I’m absolutely delighted you found the channel from over in the US, Matthew! I’m so happy you enjoy the channel and thank you so much for passing on the channel to others- it’s hugely appreciated!🙂🙌🏻
Thanks Freddie, another brilliant video and great music as well. I liked the Royal Enfield 'T' shirt, may have to get one. 👍 Looking forward to the next video from Tenerife.
Love a British pub. It’s the character and the excellent beer I think. I always look out for one here in Australia 🇦🇺. Maybe one day I can visit one in the Uk. Hey and well done on 12 months and 95 videos. Love your stuff you guys.
Well done Freddie, really nice insight to some of Ipswich. Coming from Lowestoft myself it’s not far away although we hardly ever went there. Probably take a trip to the Woolpack and check out the mansion after just like you did. Thanks for the high quality and varied content😉
Happy Anniversary Freddie & Monica what a journey loved every video . My partner Andy loves your enthusiasm with the bikes and cars he's equally excited, I said Monica made you look like a model Belstaff will be signing you for the next launch. Loved Tenerife Monica's filming is so professional , love the music . Here's to the next year .
Despite the weather that was a good break for Sunday and an interesting trip round the pub, garnished with ghost stories. A bit unexpected your tea stop at the mansion and yet more spooky tales from the park. I just wonder if tea breakers are scared off before having a drink of something - a bit of a commercial catastrophe! I hadn't realise this was your anniversary performance, but congrats on that both of you and safe journey back to Tenerife.
Great video with a nice atmosphere! Happy anniversary, F&M! (and many miles and breathtaking experiences with your cool bike from 2020 Honda Rebel 500 rider from the Czech Repiblic!)
Hey Freddie! I love the channel and all your content. I really enjoyed your video on the BMW Z3 and was wondering if you would ever make videos on other classic cars?
No thank you for making these vlogs both, well presented, really entertaining and interesting. Those portraits in the country house are freakishly scary, especially the one that looked like young twins with swords.
been great year thanks to your fantastic videos.i think you have a great future in front of the screen. could I ask what video equipment you use and microphone. its such a great quality. Also is Tenerife different to mainland Spain in so much as how long you can spend there??? we were hoping to move to Malaga before Brexit but that kinda screwed us over. so we now live vicariously through your videos. lol
Great video Freddie and two iconic British brands i’ve still got my British made Belstaff jacket from 1984 and my royal is Enfield is 1949 so pre-India manufactured
Great video as always! As a Colchester local living abroad it was great to see some familiar scenes, when we ever make it back to the UK that pub looks nice to check out. But also as a Colchester lad, I have to say, Ipswich, a city?? A town, right!!
Well Freddy both you and Monica Will be getting a package of goodies from Marks and Sparks soon to compete with the Bellstaff kit after the screen time you gave them at the end 😂😂 Sir Gary de la Toon
I had a Belstaff waxed cotton motorcycle jacket in the 1970’s. It was real waxed cotton so the jacket had an actual coating of wax that came off on your hands and clothes. It wasn’t like modern motorcycle jackets no armour just thin cotton with a checked lining also thin so it wasn’t a warm jacket. The nearest modern equivalent would be a Barbour waxed cotton jacket, look very similar👍
Back in 61 my first bike was a Royal Enfield, I cant remember if my waxed jacket was Belstaff or Barbour but the wax also came off on your hands and it was not very waterproof.
This new one also has a wax coating- they feel so full of character. Although these new ones do have a waterproof membrane underneath (I’m sure there wasn’t this luxury in the 70s) I love little insights like this; a brand that’s been around and used by bikers for decades👌🏻 Thanks for sharing this🙂🙌🏻
I’m 6’1” too and like the bobber style and think Honda have done a great job with the 1100. However… watching you on the Rebel (23:25), it looks like your knees are under your chin…. With the low seat height, unless the foot pegs are forward, it makes the bike look small on the small side? Congrats on the anniversary, keep them coming!!
I personally love the size of it, although there are a good amount of people around my height who’d find it a bit cramped. Completely agree; forward foot controls are a game changer for giving theses bobbers a roomier feel👌🏻 Thanks Rich!🙂
