Instagram- AdamTheWooATW Big thank you to Scott On Tape for showing me some great spots around Detroit. He really went the extra 8 mile to knock this day out of the park. Check out his channel !
Always know it's gonna be a great video when you partner up with Scott on Tape. You two bounce off each other so well, and it really shows. Never a dull moment with this duo!
This was awesome to watch. Been trying for 7 years to get him to MI. Bummed he wouldn’t do a meet up. Glad he had a fellow RU-vidr to show him around. IT’s Hollywood and Hollywood, youtube and RU-vid. The rest of us just support them to continue doing their dreams …. And sometimes ours. Enjoy, hope you come back another time. Still lots to see, and lots to do. Michigan always gets the Passover. So hopefully you’ll come back.
Detroit local here. The sirens are tested the first Saturday of every month at 1pm. This is just the regular testing. No threat of tornado or severe weather.
@@vernwallen4246, no. That being said, I would never go to that neighborhood. It’s too unpredictable. You don’t know who will run up on you. I live here so I know the areas to avoid. I would also avoid the Oakland Avenue corridor. Very desolate and seedy overall.
@@jpassosengenhariadecomputa8039, northern Warren has its good pockets and bad. I would stay away from the south end for now(south of 696). It’s not all that bad. We are going to have a new mayor in November who should be able to make things even better.
@@BeingMe23 Why not there both about the same age and seem to have difficulty retaining and maintaining a a relationship ie never gonna get married n settle down! So they make a team! Lol
In some spots of the city, nature has completely taken over and you feel like you are miles from anything. It's nice to see people that care and that take pride in the city nowadays. I grew up in Detroit until moved to the burbs as a senior in high school, I couldn't/wouldnt raise my kids in the city, after my experiences growing up unfortunately, but I still love the city. Great video as usual Adam
I was just in Detroit for WWE Summerslam yesterday. I only had the day to really explore and see things, but It truly is a beautiful city, and I plan on going back soon. Hockey season is right around the corner after all
My boys and I where just in Michigan this past weekend visiting my grandparents old home. They lived on 10 mile and Hoover. I hadn’t been to Michigan since 1999, wanted to show the kids. We took lots of pictures and videos. We live in Kentucky. We went to Summerslam at Ford Field, St. Clair Lake, ate at Hungry Howies, Tubby’s, drove up to Frankenmuth, and the Detroit Zoo. By the way, we heard the 1pm alarm too when we were out by the lake, lol!
I spent some time around Detroit a few years back. Sure, there are absolutely some dilapidated areas, but this city does have some good bones. I know they've been concentrating on cleaning up and recovering areas of the city, and I wish them the best luck, as the city sits in a geographic beautiful area.
@@CaptainBuckeye, that’s about the most ignorant comment I’ve seen in some time. The history of Detroit is as much about segregation as the Deep South, but things have definitely turned a corner. The only difference between Detroit and rural Ohio is the shade of the people that live there. All the problems are still the same.
Awesome video! You definitely show places I would never get to in my life, and I really appreciate that! One correction for Scott though, Henry Ford didn't invent the assembly line, but he DID invent the MOVING assembly line.
HEY ATW...SCOTT ON TAPE IS ONE OF THE MOST GRACIOUS vloggers on this platform. Scott's intelligence and humor on his vlogs are only outmatched by his kindness towards his fans. Thanks for having him on today's episode. Man, he dragged you all over Detroit! I learned so much this morning! Hey Scott..." Hello"-Uncle Leo.
I kept waiting for Adam to cut off one of Scott's story's and there it was at the end. For some reason it always makes me laugh, but I kinda would like to hear the story too.
Me too… I was waiting the whole video and was like, darn they’re not going to do it….then it ended, and I busted out laughing. They are hilarious together! I wish they would do more videos together!
Love the older homes there!! Even old parts of town!! Awesome where the Supremes practiced, and think back to remember our world back then, and how that area looked!! Dick and the American Bandstand!! All the Motown entertainers, and other rock and roll entertainers, when I was a teenager, born 1945! My friend is 85yo,she lived there in Detroit with her single mother, and tells of walking to and from school,to church, their upstairs apartment. Then her mother married a German man, and they moved onto an island and lived. Looks like an amazing place, and see Canada 😮!
I was in Detroit a couple years ago. Went to mom’s spaghetti and Motown museum. It’s sad to see parts of the city run down when there was a time it was thriving. Sad that Eminem’s house burnt down too.
The siren goes off in Michigan the first Saturday of the month for checks at 1 pm. Hamtramck was a Polish city from the early 1900's to around the late 1970's. Banksy did an art project in the Ford plant but it was stolen shortly after. BTW we sold Jack White the Frank Wilson test pressing back in 2018 and he repressed it for RSD, we had a few sit down to discuss the 5 figure price with him.
Great video. I grew up just on the other side of the ambassador bridge in what we call South Detroit. Love detroit, love windsor. So much history good and bad
👉 Just so you know, no one in Michigan calls it Belle Island. It's Belle Isle. Smalls is a goth industrial spot with bands playing there from time to time. As you mentioned, it's a great spot to get robbed. I also know someone in a band who got mugged there. One thing about Hamtramck, there's a bar on every other corner, even in the middle of residential neighborhoods. Glad you got to see the Packard plant. I went to a few Raves there back in the 90s. My band took photos inside the abandoned train station (1999) and it is amazing that they have been able to restore it. I really didn't think it could be saved. BTW, part of Transformers 3 was shot at the train station. You were right in Mexicantown. I hope you got to see it. So many amazing places to eat there. Lots more to see in Michigan outside of Detroit too. Hope you get the chance to venture out to other areas and if not, get in touch when you come back this way and I'll be happy to give you a tour. 👍
Two .great RU-vidrs collaborate Scott an Adam great meet up . i love it when these two film together , Awesome way of waking up on a Sunday ..one of the best line from clint Eastwood "Dying ain't much of a living, boy." .great video 📸📸
Good One! Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and especially Michael Jackson. Then the Jack White locations, of course Eminem locations too. All the other great spots. And the great bat story about that one time when.... The two of you did a great job. Thank you. 😎
Love it when our favorite youtube vloggers team up and do videos together especially when you have already subscribed to them. I was so quick to click on my notification when I'd seen the names. The info and details were exceptional.
Oh wow, I love Gran Torino, love Clint Eastwood ❤I can relate to that movie somehow living here in LA all my long life and seeing all the changes going on around me. Love the song also. Famous line.. "Get off my lawn!"
Thanks for coming to Michigan! Ford's moving assembly line for the Model T was actually in a later building located on Woodward in Highland Park (you probably passed it) in an area now called Model T Plaza.
The first Saturday every month Detroit checks their military system at 1pm. If we hear this outside siren anytime other than this one time, we're to call the police or TV stations. Weird huh? and you were on Belle Isle and that's the Giant Slide which is still in use, memories for generations with that slide.
When I was a child, I lived on the Southfield side of 8 Mile. My mom worked on the Detroit side and we actually walked across 8 Mile to see her at work. Don't try that these days!!!
I’m from Michigan been to Detroit more than I can count haven’t been able to make some of these spots yet thank you for the video it was absolutely amazing and Scott is the man
Great video of Detroit Adam! I really enjoyed your trip to the Gran Torino homes. In 2014 the home that Eastwood lived in in the movie went up for sale. It was on the news. They had an open house, so me and a friend of mine showed up. At that time of day we were the only two people there besides the sales agent. We combed every bit of that home inside and out and took a ton of pictures. It was surreal to have that home to myself for over an hour. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Michigan.
Great video! Always awesome to see Scott, you guys make a great team. There are so many amazing thing in Detroit that I would love to see myself one day. The Gordy mansion was quite impressive. That guy got an absolute steal on it as he only paid $1.6 million. Check out pics of the inside - it is mind-blowing.
What a wonderful video! I couldn't stop watching.! I loved the Disney alley. How clever and unique. I'm surprised there aren't more tourists walking around back there admiring it with you. So cool. The Motown mansion, just WOW!! Maybe the owner will invite you guys in one day so we could see the pool house up close. It was beautiful to see the final resting places of Aretha Franklin and her family. I hope we don't see the great Dinah Ross there anytime soon. And God bless Rosa Parks for taking a stand that turned this country around. Detroit is an incredible city with so much history, they should all be proud. This video was so enjoyable, it just made my day! Adam, you and Scott make a great team. A job well done! Thank you to the best RU-vidrs in the business!
I did a day trip to Detroit from Chicagoland to visit Motown and other places. Detroit Sound Studio was open then and the road leading to the train station was accessible. Kind of wish and visited more of the downtown area but had to squeeze some time in for a visit to downtown Ann Arbor.
This is awesome Adam! Been watching you for years from Detroit and even commented to you before about it. We love our city and thourghly enjoyed the video. I was surprised you didnt do the lafyette and american coney island, but maybe one day you can make it again. Appreciate all you do and your content!
You guys didn't touch on Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper and The MC5, all out of Detroit. And New York band KISS had to go to Cobo Hall in Detroit to break out big......but you got Eminem throughout the entire video.
First Detroit musician I always think of is Bob Seger. I grew up in Columbus and I remember his band, the Bob Seger System, would always come down and play local clubs and skating rinks before he became big.
Thanks very much for doing this video Adam and Scott! You went to some really cool places that I haven't seen and I've lived in Michigan all of my life. Looking forward to your next video!
Garth brooks actually has his future grave in Oklahoma. He purchased a family plot that has his parents and sister and a spot for everyone else. A nice circular area in the Oklahoma cemetery
