The producers originally wanted to cast André the Giant in the role of The Professor (Professor Toru Tanaka) because they felt Tanaka wasn't tall enough. They were eventually convinced that Tanaka would be more believable, as well as cheaper, and with less scheduling conflicts, so they agreed to cast him. In order to overcome his height "disadvantage", they had him wear platform shoes to make him appear taller than his 5'11" frame.
Have to agree. This was a bit dated for the time and would have been right at home in 74-76. But still a good solid movie and the one that helped Chuck's career find its course until he got to Lone Wolf McQuade which is what cemented his status and gave us the bearded ginger version we all know today.
@@gutz1981 i agree some things 1. It would be right at home in 73, 74, 75 or 1976, because the SFPD siren in the beginning but not in the late 60s or early 70s. 2. But with the 70s hair and the "wah wah" music not really. 3. It was filmed in 1980 4. But the music in this trailer sounds like a 70s cheesy action soundtrack rather the synth music that was used in The Octogan, 1980. 5. The Octogan feels more like a 70s movie than AEFAE since it was filmed in 1979 but released in 1980 and Chuck still wore his mustache.
@@davidc.8755 That was a favorite of mine too, along with Missing in Action, Delta Force, and Code of Silence (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CHUCK NORRIS MOVIE!)
I watched in AMAZON PRIME a week ago! I didn't mind paying for such a classic! Besides I live in San Francisco and it was very nostalgic to see how such a beautiful city used to be on the early 80s and not the trash can that have become now!
I prefer this and his earlier films. Even though I like this - it seems to be really serious in the first half, and Linda is murdered - then the second half is more likes a kids friendly movie. Still like the movie, but I think I prefer the more gritty, more serious 'Dirty Harry' feel to it, that happens here and there.. : ) The fight sequences are brilliant..a few of the times he fought the triads, he did not look like he hit them that hard... Plus in the end he looks like he is dressed for dinner not for a fight... Like i said it is good...but kids stuff here and there. I suppose it is easy to critique and be picky, even though the overall picture was good.
0:03- Um, White Lightning was a Bert Reynolds movie, and Gator was the sequel to that, thank you very much. 0:18- Even though this movie isn't a slasher film, the trailer sometimes kinda feels like it. Even the poster looks like it. Damn, did slashers dominate 1981. 0:25- Now the shoe's on the other foot, and it's Shaft yelling at these loose cannon detectives. 1:27- This has all the action. He even fights Sub-Zero from The Running Man. 1:35- Luckily, the camera had protective bulletproof glass over the lens to protect itself from Chuck's foot.
