The most important thing about all of this is that no one got hurt and everything can be replaced that got broken. The cars are unimportant when compared with the people who drive them so please everyone who reads this do not cut corners when it comes to safety.

It’s terrible that it broke but the week has shown Shane how much he can do. The young man worked hard all week. As a father you have to be impressed. I have a 27 year old that has worked on bikes with me since he could turn a wrench and it impresses me every time I see him fix something that I don’t know if I could fix.

Just glad he’s ok. Hell of time at sick week and great job to you and Shane both.

Id definitely make sure the next ones have full pen welds and I agree with needed thicker wall tubes, Still thankful no one was hurt. Cars and parts can be replaced ur son can't. I love the fact yall share the interest in cars and have the relationship yall do.

Shane will be back and hopefully alot of the problems will be sorted, looks like the vibrations on this car are really bad and what caused the parts to snap.

Another reason that I never EVER use aftermarket fabricated tubular suspension pieces like that! Id rather sacrifice the slight weight savings for the peace of mind with quality OEM or heavy duty solid cast pieces. Good luck with the rebuild and glad he wasnt hurt!

Keep em coming! love the bond between all you guys, the drive you guys have is insane I would have given up and curled up into a ball and cried after that crash!

Crazy part is all those broken parts aren’t all from the crash. Definitely some father son bonding wrenching time that week. Glad you guys are laughing about it now. One for the memory books

@PFI Speed That failed arm really needed a vertical gusset thin strip in the shape of a half diamond which curved around the bushing when welded on & to put a second layer weld all around the bushing on the pipe to make sure it was solidly welded to the pipe. That way it would provide twisting & bending strength to the arm while still keeping it lightweight.

U guys are engineers and solving design flaws with going down a path not many have gone. Glad u guys are ok and u and the car as a whole is still safe and good

I'm so glad you guys didn't have trouble sooner. Or on the road. When your discussing the failure point I immediately thought the same thing, all the strength of the tubing is gone like that. There are alot of times a failure like this would have been the end of the project, so glad you guys can rebuild.

I spent over 40 years as a mechanic with a lot of work on performance cars and I've seen a lot of damage of all sorts but I've never seen a rack saddle cap busted off like that. The forces at play to do that would be impressive to say the least!

Glad you and Jr are ok. The crash was a little bothersome but no one got hurt. That's the only point that matters. God was with you that day and I know you're gonna have Goofy up and running again in no time.

I'm sure finance's allowing Shane will have it fixed in no time, dude puts in so much work. I was gutted to see what happened but the kind of adapt and overcome and never give up mentality is really inspiring 👍

I know this wasn’t the way you guys wanted it to go, but I know you built memories that will last forever. My Sick Week didn’t end the way I wanted either… Had a nitrous back fire in my only run on Friday and “blew the welds on my intake”. Actually blew my truck intake to pieces. @Cooper Bogetti brought me another one, unfortunately it didn’t work, so I spent all day Saturday J-B welding mine back together only to fire it up and hear something in the engine trying to get out. Called my awesome wife and her and a friend drove straight thru from our home in Texas to where I was sitting at BMP. We got it loaded up and and hauled it back to Texas, also drove straight thru heading home. This weekend I finally got up willingness to start taking it apart, and it’s got at least one cylinder with some new venting in the top of the piston. But, even with the horrible way my trip ended, still way happy I did it!

The PFI speed/Boosted Boiz were on the front page of everything on sick week! Between the block splittin in half, goofys unfortunate crash, and Kyle running a great week in the new AWD setup, yall were on every racing channel lol good job to the lot of you and we all know you're coming back stronger than ever! Goofy is smiling because to him fixing that stuff aint nothin to him and he had a hell of a story to tell now. I hope to see yall at the Cleetus an Cars, Bristol TN early September!

End of the day, y'all had fun, made memories, tested the car out, found failure points and most importantly goofy is okay and safe.

Man my heart dropped for Goofy when i saw his car broke then hit the wall. Hes such a good dude and works his ass off. Well yalls whole family is good people.

Had wilwood master cylinder just like that once. Those things can not handle side loading at all. You'll need to redesign your clutch set up to fix that or you will go through those master cylinders a lot. I bought a whole wilwood clutch peddle assembly and haven't had a problem since.

Main thing is goofy is ok. Parts can be replaced. Build his ripper better and stronger. You guys sure were on the struggle bus for sick week but never gave up and kept.pushing.

You handled that run like a pro. Sucks it broke sending you towards that wall but you saved it. You'll be tearing up the track in no time.

The weld failed because it was a "for show" weld. Typical instagram pretty on the outside but totally non-functional weld. I've seen a ton of tubular control arms break for exactly the same reason. The two most recent in memory were PBM lowers on a 240sx and an SLR speed arm on an e36, both failed at a weld and both looked just like the lower in the video.

In the end the cost of the parts is secondary really . Goof is unhurt which is great. The experience he has now is priceless. And now once the CRX is all the right shape again Brent and the Lad can spend more time rippin' and having a ball at the next race week event they go to. 💪💪🏎🏁🏁

Would seriously suggest looking at building a similar set to what broke out of square 1/4 wall tubing, having the bushing cut/welded into it would be way stronger in a custom manufactured square tube arm.

I'm not a race car builder but I've been a mechanic in a bunch of different industries, most recently a production facility, for most of my life. One thing that is true in any industry is you're just chasing weak links when you build something that's designed for any kind of work. Whether it's a machine or a car, it's the same thing.
