Come at me bro. James Caan as Sonny Corleone is the greatest performance ever. Ever since I was a child I resembled the characters rudeness and would only really relate emotionally to him. Followed Caan his entire career ever since. One of my heroes and you're lucky to have chilled with him.
I discovered James Caan back in the early to mid eighties when the BBC occasionally showed one of his movies here in the UK, Freebie & the Bean, Slither, The Gambler, Thief too which I watched just the other day. He's always been one of my favourites from that era a real legend;

Great interview Patrick, you really caught the man well. I interviewed him at length in Benedict Canyon in his home back in '06 and what struck me was two things. He's far more passionate, knowledgeable and interested in his craft than his public persona would lead you to believe, and as far as that Hollywood bubble goes he genuinely has no idea just how revered and admired he is around the world. And yeah, he's the proudest dad in the world. Glad to see he's still doing what he does, he truly is the last of the few.
