An introduction to Cura 4.1 

Thank you for your guidance!!! Although this would be considered an older post because I am on 4.11 now I am completely new to 3-D printing and bought my first 3-D printer a week ago. I have done a few projects but really haven’t gotten a hold of it yet. I followed your instructions and created my own Thanos just like you and it came out awesome. Thanks again!!!

You mentioned that there isn't a way to remove supports but there is also a block support option on the left if you have specific areas you don't want to have/need supports.

I like how you printed thanos before adding tree supports and after, helps us viewers visualize better. Good job, subscribed. Waiting for my anycubic mega zero, will brush up on Cura slicer and Fusion 360 while I wait bump

Hi Thanks for a great video, does it matter that I'm using Cura 4.6 as when I come to print my ender 3 does seem to stick to the bed, do i need to use stick glue on the plate.

Great video thanks a lot for your time and effort, a have a problem I slice the model and save it to my mini sd card but when i put it in the ender 3, it doesnt load the settings, like tempearture and stuff, the model is there but i have to tune the values, i have reinstalled three times cura, what am i doing wrong? thanks!

If I want to get sound on my graphics display at the end of a print, is that done in Arduino, or is it done by adding Gcode to the ending statements in Cura?

Thanks for sharing all this info.I have a question at about 16:45 though.....I'm a newb(My Ender 3 Pro and acouple spools of PLA is being shipped,I'm SO excited!)When you specify TOP and BOTTOM layers,exactly WHAT is considered those layers,as opposed to the sidewalls?For example the base I understand is the bottom,but there is a top to the base,a top to the shoulders,a top of the head,etc.......also,a bottom side of the shoulder area(armpits)This is where I get confused.If all are set the same,it won't matter.but what if I NEED a part with a 3-layer base,2-layer sides,and a 6-layer top?What dictates whether it's a top or bottom or side feature?Thank You!

my ender 3's are both direct drive. do you have a recommendation on retraction distance and speed?

One thing with 4.1 to be careful with: when a print is first started, the print head will lay down a couple of lines of filament the length of the print bed on the far left edge of the bed. If you use a glass sheet for printing that's held down with binder clips, the print nozzle may run into the left side clips and knock them off and may also cause the "Y" stepper motor to skip steps. The first time this happened on my Ender 3 the noise it made scared the crap out of me, lol. Also, all versions of Cura that I've used DOES allow blocking of supports. Just click on the model and a row of function boxes will become highlighted on the left side of the screen. The very bottom box is for adding support blocks to prevent Cura from adding supports to areas of the model you select. Once the model is selected, click on that bottom support blocking function and click on the area of the model where you don't want supports. A small transparent gray box will appear on the model indicating where supports will not be generated. If you click on that gray box to highlight it, then all the functions along the left edge of the screen will apply to that gray blocking box such as moving the box around in the XYZ directions, changing it's size (scaling it), rotating it, etc. You can create as many support blockers as you want and adjust them independently. It's a very powerful tool. Lastly, there is still at least one bug in Cura that hasn't been fixed and that is the unability to select a model on the print bed at times. There have been many times when this happened to me where I wasn't able to select one or more models to move/adjust/delete them. You can click on them until the cows come home and nothing happens. Drives me nuts.

Can Cura 4.1 be used with the Lulzbot Mini 1 printer? They furnish their own edition of Cura currently 3.6.20 version. Thanks!

I loaded the settings guide. System says it is installed, but it does not show up in the extensions sub meno.

Hi richard i,m new to 3d printing I've got a geeetech A20T and I can't get it to print one colour I can print with three or two but it wont print with one it all ways uses two at best I have turned off the other extruders so that it shows that I'm only printing with one but when the printer starts it's using two colours I'm using cura as my slicer and like I say I can print with three separate colours like witl the lizard but i can't blend the colours or print with one can you HELP it driving me nuts

Actually this feature used to be standard in Cura 14.07 years and years ago. The fact that more and more must-have features are hidden under a button named [Marketplace] makes me fear that sooner or later we will have to start paying for stuff that is essential for a slicer to be of any use at all..

Hi there, I started using Cura a couple of week ago and had no problem. I use Fusion 360 to make the models, export them to STL files. I open Cura and load in the model, do my settings and hit splice. Up until 3 days ago it all worked great, Cura would send the g-code file to the SD card, I put the card in the printer, click on the file and started the print. Now, for some reason, Cura will not convert the STL file telling me it is not allowed, and copies the file as a ufp file, not a g-code file. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks for any help you can give. Bob.

I might give cura another try,but I recently switched to the new prusa slicer, and wow, my heavily modified ender 3 prints like never Before, no z banding, no strange underextrution, just perfect prints.I must have fucked up something in cura but i have tried everything i can think of, and i have no idea what settings to try next.I have linear rails and a bondtec direct extruder, and now with prusa slicer it prints like nothing else :-) (My goal with the upgrades is not to make it print better, it already prints good as stock, but to make it more relieble and more hazzle free, and better for high flex tpu.
