Does your team sound comfortable when speaking to patients about their dental insurance?
As dental insurance is not exactly our forte, we have again called on dental insurance expert AND Front Office Rocks Instructor, Colleen Huff, who LOVES talking about dental insurance to help teach us more about this often misunderstood part of our job in the dental office.
Colleen is here to help us better understand the ever-changing dental insurance plans, the different types of insurances that are out there and to explain to us what all those insurance terms really mean. If we aren’t familiar with the terminology and a patient calls in, a patient that is on par with your practice may get turned away without us even knowing!
Take a moment to listen in on our video chat to find out about the proper use of these commonly used dental insurance plans, insurance terminology and MORE!
-- EPO / DMO

If you & your team want to:

Thank you so much for this training! Very informative- love how you itemize each terms/kinds of insurances. I always freak out when it comes to insurances and this is good to know even as a consumer or patient.

So Maximum Individual Calendars yr is that the amount total the member could use to pay for treatments? No matter what treatment code specifies? What if it says deductible denotes 100 % of exemption. Also, if insurance companies does not use subcategory such as major it’s all in including in one category for instance periodontists, endodontist, restorative, oral exams etc

What would you recommend for a college student? My health insurance is covered through my school, but dental is not.

Where does a company like Dentaquest fit in the matrix above?
@lauranelson9204
@lauranelson9204 4 года назад
Dentaquest falls under the Medicaid/Government plans. This is a company that is called a Medicaid Managed Care Plan. These companies administer the plans for things like " Child Health Plus" plans within different states. You follow the medicaid guidelines and it is the type of plan that you cannot charge the patient anything outside of what the plan allows. Meaning if you bill something wrong you cannot charge it to the patient if the insurance does not cover it.

@@lauranelson9204 Many thanks Laura. Most helpful. Do you see movement in the dental community toward a value-based system, incentivising dentists to focus on prevention?
