I have owned the AG-HPX250 for 5 months now and must say that I've grown more fond of it as time has passed. I find the Quality of the footage clean, easy to edit and grade and the optics are pretty good when taken in to conssideration that it's fixed. I have to agree that autofocus could be better and that a lot for things work different from what i came from the Canon XH-A1. "Full P2HD image quality" makes no sense. P2 is just a recording medium. While medium data rate affects image quality, it also means that media with the same transfer rate delivers the same quality. Presently ubiquitous and cheap 133x CompactFlash cards allow 160 Mbit/s rate, far beyond 100 Mbit/s needed for AVC-Intra and DVCPROHD. Those who had been hooked on P2 will continue using it, but CompactFlash-based solutions can be a better fit for independent videographers.
