Loved the split screen, when Lysenko and Grudneva performed their routines at the end of your video and when both gymnasts synchronized for the same dismount. As always a beautiful video. Superb and well founded content. Thank you for your opinion on these great years of Artistic Gymnastics. 💚🥰😍💚
I consider myself well informed on gymnastics history. But I was SHOCKED to see my queen Lysenko fall on her beam mount! I have no recollection of this! Perhaps this is why the big mount was outie for Barcelona 🥇
YAY I live to show people new things and take whatever knowledge I accrue and pass it on 🥰. I think compositionally, her series worked better as it was in Barcelona anyway. It made the routine less empty. I do wish she could have learned how to do a decent one-armed handstand though 😭
Gutsu is Shannon Miller, Lyssenko is Dawes. I'll take Lyssenko/Dawes any day. But, I cant deny Miller and Gutsu's ability to show up for the big games! Lyssenko always had those extra twists, and Dawes really opened the door on flying into the rafters on releases when she brought that Hindorff back into existence! (Chellsie Memell)l def got the email! I'll always give those flowers for gamers, but I'll never deny ppl w much more talent. Dudnik (aside from her leaps), anyone?1 Gina, may have been scored for the rest of her career because of that combo, because she was never giving much after that day, but always getting all the grace from the judges. Please make it make sense!
Svetlana Boginskaja was also the defending European Champion from 1990, where she swept away all 5 Gold Medals in Athens..... I lost that tape on my way in life sadly, but these Championships were glorious for her....
I said that in the video--that she was the reigning Co-European Champion on bars. In a previous video in the series I said she had won all 5 gold medals also 🙏
The term for gutsu's perfection is called polished. Speaking of car crashes karolys girl hillary grivich also was killed in a car crash before she even peaked. She was a cute little girl and a great gymnast.
@@thesovgc didn't you say khristakieva died in a crash? I think I heard that, that reminded me of Hillary. I liked her. You would be a good commentator or judge. Love your videos keep them coming! Respect to you
@@PeirsolFan2 idk if "obscure" is the best word, but the fact that > 10 people have said they had no idea she did it makes it something, I think.. Perhaps? Possibly maybe.
@@thesovgc I believe that avid gymnastics enthusiasts, beyond those who tune in casually every four years, primarily associate Gogean's routines with consistent, low-risk performances that didn't necessarily push boundaries. So it could be a shock to see how much her coaches suppressed difficulty in her routines in the quest for medals.
I call it the Belu impact. Belu took out all unnecessary flashy skills and constructed routines that were nearly 10 out of 10 hit routines. What could have been! 😂😂😂😂
I concur, although it didn't seem to hurt Lysenko.. (Unless you're considering the Shaposhnikova a release?) In a perfect world, I'd hope the invert and dismount would offset that for Yelena. I think she did score 9.9+ in Barcelona, so the judges were definitely with her somewhat.
Also, people don't realize how blessed they are these days to have the equivalent of albums worth of photos to choose from. I have to literally crop Grudneva out of pics of her with her team on the podium for thumbnails at this point 😭
