An Unpleasant Reality in Canyonlands National Park (SUV Camping/Vanlife Adventures)

In this video I head back into eastern Utah's Canyonlands National Park. I battle with the hoards to get that Instagram-perfect shot, enjoy a couple of other hikes in comparative seclusion, hit up one last point of interest in Moab, and then end up in an incredible campsite way up in the mountains. What a day!

You would see some awesome places on a rail cart. I built a folding rail cart. I take it out on abandoned rail tracks in Anza borrego desert. So gorgeous out there. Also there is a company that runs railcart s through the red woods

Please, however you must do it. Even to remaining seated in the truck, with doors and windows open. Or maybe you venture no farther than the edge of the parking lot,,, go, see, do,, take your eyes , soul, paperback book to read. It is all good. You'll be out in it. And who knows, a bunch of strong college boys may happen along,, and take you with them. Go. You'll love it.

Had the same experience at Mesa...I was standing 50-75 feet back waiting for my shot...which never would have come of course, due to selfie-mania....finally, I screamed at the top of my lungs "Could everybody please move out of the way for 5 seconds so I can take a picture, then I will be happy to take shots of you and your family if you like!". To my amazement, taking into account the large # of international travelers there that day, everybody moved, and I got my shot. Oddly enough, nobody wanted me to take family photos. Hmnnffffffff.

Ha, ha! I used to have a tremendous fear of heights, until we moved to Utah the first time (early 90s). Between learning to ski and the many hikes in Canyonlands and Arches we did back then...I have a respect for heights, but no fear. We used to love to do these trails in the late Fall and early Winter because it always seemed that's when the wildlife felt comfortable coming out. Nice to see the trails we once did. My husband is so turned off by those areas now because of the crowds, but I'm working on him, ha.

I like the fact that you did not make nasty negative comments on how crowded it was threre. Everybody has the right to go see something beautiful and I appreciate an observer like you who shows the reality without using harsh comments like: "I hate people crowding these places" Personally, I think we have to be kinder to all other human beings because otherwise those rocks and mountains look back at us and think: "there is another bunch of human beings being their own worst enemies" LOL Thank you for being such a good and kind communicator.

@@davidpeterson2111 Hi David, no I was not being sarcastic, he reported it was not nice but he didn't use hateful words. Some people literally "hate" that turists crowd these places and, even if it is a nuissance, yes indeed, we can still state that in a polite manner and I like his videos because he is a polite person who reports facts without using vulgar or hateful language. Saying "nightmare" is still a very acceptable way of describing the reality. Peace! :)

There is a difference between those people who are genuine lovers of the great outdoors and those who are just there for an Instagram-worthy snap though. It's the later who are ruining many of these truly awe inspiring places by crowding in and overstepping boundaries, leaving trash, etc.
@adavell
@adavell 4 года назад
@@TheMyeloman Oh, I totally agree with you! But, as I work on becoming more and more tolerant of everybody else, I was commenting on the excellence of this vlogger who brings us to all these places, gives honest reviews and delivers the message with elegance without being hateful or using intolerant language. I noticed how he just walked away peacefully looking for his own comfort zone and I particularly enjoyed the image of him walking away with all that crowd behind him, compiting for half of an inch of space to position their cameras. He kept his cool and just walked away. Other vloggers would have made a contentious 5 minute shot and commentary about how much they "hate" tourists. This channel's host shows us his quality of a peaceful person that is relaxing and wise and allows us to enjoy his content. And somehow those who make comments here, also use kind language and "listen" to each other in a respectful manner, agreeing or disagreeing, without offending and allowing for all voices to participate. Isn't that what Nature needs as well? Respectful tourists who pick up after themselves and do not destroy anything? That is what I get from this channel. :)

Once again a great video. As a European travelling to these great National Parks is not an everyday event - so your videos are really appreciated. I was though in the Utah two years ago in September - and I actually managed to see the Sunrise at Mesa Arch WITHOUT a crowd - so it is still possible, just pick the right season (and have a bit of luck). Thank you for all the tips on how to get great experiences in "non-touristic" ways.

If you didn’t arrive at trail parking early, early you would not get a parking space, they were parking everywhere and rangers were ticketing. But great weather and hiking. More difficult trails weren’t so crowded but popular ones were like a subway platform. And Whale Rock was fun scramble while Upheaval was interesting, second viewpoint is well worth visiting.
