BMX streets has an insane potential to take over the market; just like kids started playing guitar from guitar hero, kids will want a bike when they play this game! So excited for this to become my daily casual game!
It won’t make bmx come back though. Bmx as a sport is ruined because of cheap bikes. Back in the 00’s a decent bike was $1000 and that was entry level without really good parts. Once they became super mass produced for like $300 most pros were just replacing bikes instead of parts. The money going into the industry went down super fast and it basically caused everything to plummet. Yes it’s still a thing today but it’ll never be as popular as it once was and I can guarantee it
I REALLY hope this game is a massive success outside of just the BMX Community! How many non skaters/BMXers played Tony Hawk or Dave Mirra/Mat Hoffman BITD!? There's definitely potential for this dude to see one HELL of a reward for all his hard work & dedication. As for character customisation? That could potentially come in a patch/update at a later date. I think at this point we just wanna get out hands on the full game! But yeah, being able to make our character look like us or the most random weird concoction of nonsense is definitely a big part of games these days! People make good money creating updated attires or unreleased pro wrestlers for the WWE 2K Games. You can lose hours in games literally deciding what your characters are gunna wear ffs!
As much as I feel character customization may be important, the time it would take to make that may push the game out quite a while. I'm fine riding as Devon Smillie if it means getting to play the game. It may be something he can add as an update at a later time. The mod scene will be working on it as well. Mash is amazing for all the work he's put in and I hope the game turns out as he hopes! Thanks for the update Potato!
I agree with this a lot. The only thing is I feel like we need player customization to come in as a update in the future. More so for the console players who won’t have access to mods and the vanilla game is all they have.
I really APPRECIATE the devs giving little updates here and there. And honestly the amount of work/time that goes into development isn't done overnight, so with that said who cares how long it takes to release a game. I'm hyped for this! 🤩
Hey Mitch, Mitch here, lol 😂 ok so o just watched this on my tv while drifting off to bed. Character customization, no matter if modio is implemented this will be a thing. It’s a unity based game which gives access to unlimited mod abilities. Look at skater xl early days there was a mod called skin editor not too long after release then all the random mods people created. XLGM is a very good example. And that’s the thing is that unity is very simple. I’m learning some mod stuff myself now actually along side map making. Been doing custom assets for XLGM for almost a year now and custom NPC models etc stuff I never thought was possible but is made easy thanks to Unity. I wouldn’t worry about the character customization. It’ll be modded in if it’s not available right away and he will most likely add in a basic system afterwards if it becomes popular enough based on the level of love he put into this game it’s amazing this was a passion project
It looks amazing! I don’t care how long it takes but I’m hyped up for it, I’d be a little bummed if there’s no character customization at all but gameplay is the most important thing to me, thanks for the update bro! 😊
Watching this feels so nostalgic, reminds me of playing Dave mirra! Last night I finally got on the sticks for the first time in forever. Ngl character customization would be fire I can’t wait til they drop this game.
I'm so glad he's taking his time with this and not just rushing it out the door. He's extremely dedicated to this and I am so pumped for the release whenever that happens, we have waited 5 years, I can wait a bit longer and I know it will be worth it. In MashGames we trust!
I think i was 16 when i first heard of this game. I played the original tech demo before pipe came out and put countless hours into that too, il be 23 in a couple months, This game is going to be amazing, im not worried about anything here :)
So excited. Can't wait to see what the mod community will bring to the full game. I feel like because the finished game will be more permanent we should expect to see some highly polished mod maps.
As a console player i fully expected this to launch pc and console to follow. The fact hes going through all this to get it on everything is amazing. Cant wait to play this game
I have the bmx pipe installed for a long time on Xbox one but the game is horrible it looks like a beta will they release an update for us on the console in the future?
Its one dude making the game and as you say Pipe was no masterpiece and should have taught him he needs more devs. The games gonna be bad at launch you can't make such an ambitious game with one person. I would very strongly recommend waiting for reviews before buying but you how it is the dumb dumbs gonna pre order fomo and all that nonsense 😂
I swear I crowd funded this game like 8 years ago?! Lol. Completely forgot about this but the pipe map looks familiar. Guess I’ll have to re-buy it. But oh well, I’m excited!
For a purely focussed on BMX type of game I get why they focussed on customizing the bikes first. And I think it's a good call. I mean yeah character customization is cool, but if they built this system for the bikes I can imagine it shouldn't be too hard to add in character customization post launch. Also this looks amazing. I need to get back into PIPE and dust off the rust. Been playing too much Session xD
I'm going to have to buy an Xbox or whatever platform this is on to play but can't wait to get a version of this when it's released. They can take as long as they want to make it right, I'd prefer that rather than it being rushed and not as enjoyable. After watching footage of the gameplay, I hope they have toothpicks and icepicks, foot jams and even can jams, and are able to do pocket airs. I can understand the postponement of release. Can't imagine how much work goes into actually making a game. Every little tweak of this and that to make it work correctly, one error would take enough time in itself to correct until satisfactory let alone an entire game; trying to make it realistic but enjoyable, fitting all the complex moves into a limited amount of appropriate buttons. Much respect for the effort it must take. Hopefully they'll be compensated by their efforts when complete.
I think it’s good to have pros instead of custom players...puts focus on the really people doing it and the machines of the bike. I’d love to play as some dope riders our there!! Great for the bmx world in general
The hype level is so absurd at this point that it will surely fall short, but hopefully the massive purchases upon release will motivate Mash to continue upgrading it.
I’m thinking your going to be able to choose your gear ratio for sure which will be interesting to see how that translates to speed and just overall feel pedaling around
No character customisation doesn't bother me too much, but hopefully it gets added post launch. Even if it's just basic clothing for the existing pro riders and character preset would be fine but I'm not bothered either way. The bike is more important to me.
They should be working with the BMX industry not creating rip offs of existing companies, connecting the game to real life companies and culture was a huge part of Tony Hawk's games success.
I think the thing you have to remember is that it was super easy to get all those brands involved with the Tony Hawk and skate games because they were made by AAA title developers and companies. This is an indie game made by one guy and I’m sure once this game comes out and BMX company’s see how popular it’s going to be, They’ll definitely want to be involved with the next one!
@@TheOldPotato That's fair but I'd rather see completely made up brands rather than knock offs or core BMX companies like changing the Odyssey R32 to the Ulysses R32 or the Animal fork to Bestial with a rip off of their logo.
Dude a custom player is a must! Like for real Devon Smilie is a goat but in the end I would love to play someone that looks close to what I look like...
This makes me wanna go back to 2004 and take my Haro F3 to the “dirt hills” in NE Calgary,AB and hit the birm then hit the kicker and spin out the crank and get the spikey metal pedal stuck in my shin! Good fucking times! Hahahaha 😂 that or a GT Mach One. Hell I’d love any old bike Free Agent,Diamondback Grind, a silver frame 90’s legit Dyno by GT man I’m living in the past for a minute here
