Anakin and Obi-Wan takes on Count Dooku. This must be one of the worst scenes from the new trilogy. The part where anakin just stands there like he wants his hand to be cut is just horrible. It’s so bad it’s good though luckily
0:13 Obi Wan be like: "Noooooo! *Anakin* *NOOOOO!!*" [He gets electrocuted like a moron.] "I swear I'll freaking cut this little brat legs one day...."
JediDanD because Anakin didn't learn his lesson the first time and so the count had to put him down for good. foolish of you... I am a slow learner ....
Darth Maul didnt bitch about it when he got cut in half, nor did Dooku when he lost both his arms. If it makes you feel better, Anakin screamed in agony when obi-wan cut all his limbs off :p
+SMNSWPS that is showing how tough the Siths are. Maul, Dooku, no scream at all. Luke, Mace, screaming like a bitch. :D Anakin was going to be sith, so calm reactions were ok :D
I like how when you compare this to the fight in ROTS, you can see just how much progress Anakin has made. Here is look very nervous and tentative about making any sort of an approach, and ultimately pays for it. In ROTS, he's like "bitch, ima cut you down!".
Light Revaan well the audience clearly didn't know what the hell happened there. That's just a terrible excuse for a sloppy scene. I love the prequels, but that fight was a dissapointment.
1:05 That's an interesting parallel/form of foreshadowing that George Lucas pulled there. Anakin and Padme wake up at the same time in this scene. Yet, in their final scene in Revenge of the Sith, Padme dies in the same moment that Vader awakens.
Yes, that was geniously heartbreaking 🥺😭 I miss George Lucas as a director. He's the only one who could write anything remotely good when it comes to Star Wars and all it's rip-offs
@@fannyhilden8518 George’s attention to detail was impeccable. The downside with his direction is his inability to direct actors. He’s a better producer than director. Examples: ESB, ROTJ and the Indiana Jones series. None of the films I listed were George directing.
+Mike Hunt close up shots of christopher lee fighting. close ups like that are the only way to show an elderly person like christopher lee and ian mcdiarmid actually fighting. christopher lee at the time was too old to pull off the quick foot work that his stunt double can pull off. unfortunately in episode 2, they were so focused on the yoda fight and the rest of the film that this duel came out pretty anticlimactic. they basically just used this duel to fill plot holes. kinda sad, this duel has the best sound effects out of all the movies in it. especially the little move at 0:46. had the choreography been more consistent and the duel been longer, it woulda been one of the best of the saga. i mean, from a canon persepctive.. they WERE in a small geonosian hangar as dooku was fleeing so there isnt much room to work with. much like vader vs obi wans duel being in a small hallway.
Zhake Um, _Attack of the Clones_ didn't rip-off any scenes from _The Empire Strikes Back_. There were certain parallels, of course, but nothing was an outright rip-off, unlike _The Farce Awakens_ which blatantly copied the plot of _A New Hope_, story beat for story beat.
+Darren Z It's not a rip-off. If has similar plot points and all that, but the characters (The thing that matters), are all different in their own way, from the ones in A New Hope. Also, people act like the plot of A New Hope is somewhat original, but it's basic fairy-tale plot mixed with elements from WWII and western movies. It's about the characters, and if the plot makes sense. The characters in The Force Awakens were great IMO. The only plot point from ANH that shouldn't have been was that Starkiller Base thing. Should've just been a First Order base on some snow forest planet, and they go there to rescue Rey, and the X-Wings try to destroy the base.
Mike Hunt Nope. It was a beat for beat rip off of _A New Hope_. Think about it: -A rebel stronghold is raided by the evil empire. -Important information is secured aboard a droid who is tasked with delivering it safely across a desert planet. -The droid is captured by scavengers. -The droid is rescued from the scavengers by an orphan living on the planet. -The empire is dispatched to the planet to retrieve the droid. -The droid and the orphan team up with Han Solo to escape the empire and deliver the information to the rebels. -The heroes are captured by the empire but manage to escape. -They eventually reach the rebel base only to discover that the empire's planet-busting weapon is about to fire on their outpost. -The rebels launch a desperate, last-minute attack on the empire's planet-buster and emerge victorious. Am I describing the plot of _A New Hope_ or _The Force Awakens_?
there’s a pretty large nerve that runs through your arm and having it severed so high up past his elbow, he probably instantly went into shock and passed out
@@chicitycred because it was at the wrist, instead of above the elbow which is were the main nerve is in your arm and all the smaller nerves connect to it…. luke didn’t go into shock and pass out because it didn’t sever the majority of the nerve
Obi-Wan tossed his lightsaber to Anakin so he could have an advantage...Why don't all Jedi carry two each if they are such an advantage? They don't exactly grow on trees but two for each Jedi is reasonable. Even a droid with an asthma problem managed to get like 8. Why not Jedi who can even create their own?
+Hidious Vanity honestly I think the crystals for them are like super far in deep space. so I guess its like being saved by spiderman you only get one.
I hate when people are blaming Lucas for the Prequels. Prequels are awesome as well for the OT... Disney fucked up with the The Force Awakens (The new hope remade)
A) the prequels were shit bro, look in this scene it took 3 Jedi masters to take on one fallen Jedi, that's soooo unreal! B) By people laughing and loving things like the Harlem shake (yes..that), it shows we hate originality and instead just want the same things over and over. Hence why we get so many remakes of movies and tv shows. So don't complain when Disney gives you what you seem to want
HeirofGojira91 Dooku might not really show it here or anything, but I always liked to think that Form II (or at Least Dooku`s) wpuld resemble fencing in some way, hence the curved hilt. Don`t think I`m right though, but then again, for some reason most of the lightsaber styles look alike in the movies.
Jadervason I meant more with precise stabs and cuts and fast/agile footwork. Using His sword one handed would`ve been nice too, like He does in the clone wars series for instance.
Johnny Longhair like seriously, that was barely a counter, it was enough to just block. Not block and stand still while waiting to get your hand chipped off.
SSJ Flash Dooku was moving faster than Anakin, the part where Anakin lost an arm was from Dooku's perspective so he moved too fast for Anakin to counter it
SSJ Flash No, it's that's just my best explanation because Dooku was a lot more skilled, powerful, and experienced than Padawan Anakin Skywalker so it makes sense
I think it's supposed to be them just exchanging strikes furiously while standing in place. The light and shadow play is cool visually, but considering that nearly every sword fighting style requires moving by foot as well...
Obi-Wan gets slashed lightly in the arm and leg and stays out of the rest of the fight. Kylo Ren gets shot in the gut with a bowcaster and continues to fight.
Dooku's fighting style is basically using a lightsabre to stab at an opponent's pressure points. Think of Tai Lung's special attacks with the addition of a deadly laser blade added into the mix. I can easily see why Obi-Wan was incapacitated.
It's not just the gut shot. Kylo also took lightsaber strikes to the arm and leg just like Obi. The only difference being that Kylo was actually worn down at that point.
Krûk Blood-Axe unstable and conflicted 20-something Knights of Ren trying to embrace the Dark Side despite the pull from the Light Side (something never before seen) FTFY
Krûk Blood-Axe "Dats so fukin' stewped" That's the point, Einstein. He is supposed to not look menacing without the mask. His tantrums are *amazing* and honestly, an unstable leader is way more terrifying than Vader's stone cold type. The chest pounding was great, channeling the dark side as he was playing with his Stormtrooper food. Kylo Ren was a beast and a great, original character. I am generally against these kinds of binaries but if one can't see his potential, one is an idiot. Extra points if someone spoke against the prequels and ended up now saying "well, they weren't *that* bad, compared to TFA" We get so caught up with whiny and annoying characters, we forget how whiny and annoying Star Wars fans can get. No point in good movies coming out if we taint them with our whimpering and unrealistic standards.
Jar'kai, the art of dual lightsaber wielding? Ah, such a cool skill to have as a Jedi, although Anakin had little experience with it at this point. He did utilize it later during the Clone Wars, although with much more skill and ferocity.
Stupid movie mistake. Anakin saves Obi-wan. During that saber lock, Dooku and Anakin are standing over Obi (that's the whole point). Then we see Obi-wan force grab his lightsaber to toss it to Anakin. At first I think "wait a minute, if he's lying right at their feet, why doesn't Obi-wan just slice Dooku's legs off right there?" Then we see the toss, then the wide angle shot, and... where the hell is Obi-wan???
Tesserex When Obi-Wan is getting his lightsaber while lying on the ground, he should have sliced Dooku's legs. The movie would have ended earlier and Dooku would have died.
Ok the fight was decent, honestly I enjoyed watching it...until the end. I didn't pick up on this when I was fanboying in the movie theatres so many years ago, but come on...that last strike was so unnatural...Anakin just stopped moving...
Tremaine Moore Well the novels say that and logically it makes sense. Dooku hadn't actually fought at all except for this battle while the others had fought all day.
In my opinion Count Dooku was more a good guy than bad. He just went down wrong paths. Even at 2:44 you see he feels bad when he chops off Anikin's hand.
Dooku was a true Sith, and you can tell he was emotionally conflicted about maiming anakin and that long over dramatic attempted coup de grace on obi wan showed that he just wanted it over.
Wow. I always thought Obi Wan vs. Vader was the worst fight in the Star Wars films, I totally didn't notice how bad this was. Anakin doesn't flinch when his hand gets cut off, and the way he lunges at Dooku after being knocked out is just the worst thing ever, especially considering that they had all sorts of available new effects at their disposal..... poor cutting *pun not intended*
+Colonel Burton Cutting off his arm was a clean 4th degree burn killing the nerves and causing no pain, silence is a normal sign of physiological shock. You also can't forget that dooku was the best raw duelist BY FAR in the order when he left.

+Colonel Burton After seeing the Force Awakens Obi Wan really looks here like a pussy, Rey and Finn hurt Kylo Ren several times, and he still fight until Rey wins...
I found it so cool how Anakin was able to duel with two lightsabers trying to block Dooku's every slash towards him and it makes me happy to know that this wasn't gonna be the last time he used two lightsabers at the same time as he did so in two episodes of Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Episode 2 and I believe Episode 7 where he and Obi-Wan rescue Luminara from the Geonosian queen
I've heard that the reason Anakin apparently has his arm chopped off so easily is because Lucas cut some of the footage of the fight. In fact, originally, this fight was supposed to be only Anakin vs Dooku. It's not like Hayden asked for the fight to end like this, it was more like, he fought Dooku in a much more epic duel, watched the preview of the fight, said "I look like a freaking dumbass! What the hell happened to the other footage?" and Lucas goes, "Sorry, no dice. Screen time."
Late reply, but I agree with this entirely. I haven't watched this fight scene in years and only now noticed how bad the cut is in this scene, it's like the fight was supposed to continue but it just cuts abruptly and awkwardly into Anakin getting his arm cut off.
@Riviia492 another fight that was MUCH different at first was Mace Windu vs Palpatine. First off the 3 Jedi Council Masters would've actually been competent. Second Anakin was actually there WHEN the 4 Jedi arrive and Palpatine grabs Anakin's lightsaber (in fact if you look very very closely at one moment in fight you can see Anakin's hilt) and third Palpatine was gonna be way more acrobatic true to his full power but they didn't use stunt doubles. A lot more was different but there are videos explaining better
Yeah... I remember when lightsaber cuts were devastatingly painful enough to drop even a Jedi Knight with simple slashes to the shoulder and thigh. Now even whining wimps like Kylo Ren can suffer 2 shoulder slices, a cut to the knee and a blaster shot to the chest and keep fighting. Or even non-Jedi like Finn can get his arm burned through for an extended period of time and still be strong enough to land more hits. Hmm....
This is if not...one of my favorite moments of the Prequel trilogy. The fact that Anakin wielded the light sabers so fucking elegantly literally gave me goose bumps. Hell even when he cut the lights off. Now that was tradition.
Nope. Dark jedi and sith are two different things and besides, sith sorcery is not a "jedi power" Jedi is light side, sith is dark side. A dark jedi is a jedi who is falling to the dark side, a sith is someone who specifically chooses the dark side and follows the greatest masters of it.
And the moment they left the Sith organization, they'd be called Dark Jedi again. It's semantics. Not to mention Dooku spent more time as a Jedi than as a Sith.
I honestly don't see what's so bad about this duel. I enjoyed watching this fight as much as I did watching Luke fight Vader in Ep. 6 or Obi-Wan and Anakin's fight in Ep. 3.
+DishonoredHero97 For one despite the terrible choreography, there is no emotion to his scene! Its nothing but some characters clashing lightsabers with one another. There's no history and tension built up between any of them other than they want to win the battle. To say this fight is just as good as watching the fight between Luke and Darth Vader in Episode 6 is ridiculous! That fight has so much emotion built up, there is so much more going on between the characters themselves outside of the actual fight. I'm sorry you didn't notice.
***** Yea, my opinion. It may be widely thought to be awful by many (Because it's their verdict of it) but there are people out there who, in their own views, enjoy it. What you're going on about; calling me an idiot for having a differing thought on a movie that many have negative sentimental thoughts about, is what we call bigotry, my friend.
***** big·ot·ry ˈbiɡətrē/ noun intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself. How old are you for dissing other people's opinions rather then being respectful and tolerating them? I'm guessing you're like 12? I've acknowledged that people hate this movie, but you don't see me calling all of them "fucking idiots," for having a differing opinion than I do. Grow up, kid.
Though I have the utmost reverence for the Clone Wars series (both 2D and 3D), my main critique was that of Dooku: as we see here in the movies - starting at 0:49 - Christopher Lee (God rest his soul) portrays him with a range of emotions, including a sort of subtle maniacal triumph. Compare this to his appearance in the show, in which he is portrayed as much more grim and reserved.
(Above Coruscant in the CIS command ship Obi-Wan and Anakin reach the Chancellor and Count Dooku enters like in canon). Palpatine: "Get help you are no match for him, he is a Sith Lord." Obi-Wan: "Chancelor Palpatine, Sith Lords are our specialty." (Count Dooku approaches). Dooku: "Your swords please. You wouldn't want to make a mess of things in front of the Dark Lord of The Sith." Anakin: "Oh don't worry Count we'll make this quick." Obi-Wan: "You won't get away this time." Dooku: "Who said I was talking about me." (Dooku said smirking). Dooku: "Kenobi you remember what I told you three years ago. How the Republic is under the control of The Dark Lord of The Sith?" Palpatine: "Why believe anything he saying. He cut off your arm Anakin, and tried to kill both of you on many occasions." Dooku: "I assure you what I tell you is true. The Dark Lord is sitting right there." (Dooku said as he pointed the hilt of his lightsaber at Palpatine). (Palpatine's face contorted into one of anger). (Anakin and Obi-Wan felt a tension in the room they had not felt before. Dooku did not draw his blade but kept it ready just encase one of the Jedi or his master tried something). (Palpatine wanted to kill Dooku right there, but did not want to expose himself). (Dooku would then talk about conversations that happened between him and Palpatine in private, and about how Palpatine got the Sandpeople/Tusken Raiders to kill Anakin's mother). (Both Jedi, especially Anakin would look in disbelief at Palpatine as Dooku went on. He even told them about how he wanted to use Anakin. It was all starting to make sense. Obi-Wan and Anakin drew their lightsabers not at Dooku, but at Palpatine). Obi Wan: "In the name of the Galactic Republic..." Anakin: "You are under arrest." (Palpatine sent out a wave of Force lightning pushing them back, and then freed himself of his restraints). Dooku: "Get up you fools." (Dooku told them as he went over to them). Dooku: "It will take all of us to defeat him." (They all readied themselves as Palpatine got up, as two lightsabers came out of his sleves). Palpatine: "It's treason then." (Palpatine then leaped at them from across the room red sabers twirling and clashing with Dooku's, Kenobi's, and Skywalker's saber's). (The fight to decide the fate of the galaxy had begun). Anyone is free to use this for a what if/versus, but be sure to credit me for the idea.
Padding on the floor of a full CGI room. Or she was told she’s running on sand dunes and tried to simulate during filming. You have to remember how things are filmed in these movies after phantom menace
I honestly don't think Anakin's dialogue is that cheesy. He's supposed to be 19 here. Of course he's gonna be weird and gauche edit: WAH. It's true what everyone else says! Why does Anakin just watch Dooku sever his arm
Initially as a kid I liked the prequels. I got older and found the cgi annoying. Now that I've revisited the series, I found the prequels aren't as bad as RLM made it out to be and see their review as more nitpicking than anything else. I applaud George for doing something new with the prequels and not retreading the originals the way the new trilogy is doing. Don't get me wrong, the prequels do pay homage to the original trilogy through imagery and such, but not in the sense that it's a soft reboot.
Dooku wasn't as evil as some may have thought. I think he would really want to overthrow Palpatine and that he was more of a gray Jedi rather than a Sith. At the end of the fight he feels a little bit of remorse cutting Anakin's hand.
I thought it was because he was 80 years old and he fought and beat Obi-Wan who keep in mind was ten year older and more skilled than when he fought Darth Maul and Anakin who was already renowned and skilled as a jedi apprentice to the point where he was already thinking about taking trails to become a jedi master and who managed to put up a much better fight without giving Dookua break.
+zOrg I think the point is, ypu are confusing a dark Jedi for a gray Jedi. And how is that not the point? he said dooku wasn't really that evil, and the guy tortured and murdered many innocents over countless systems. Define evil for me if that doesn't qualify.
SierraOne This was actually a set, but whatever suits your weird, prequel bashing agenda. Go back to watching your CG infested marvel films with people flipping about every second.
Lmao I actually love the prequels... but hey we all have our own opinions. I loved this fight scene, I love the story... I love the characters and the actors. I think George Lucas did a pretty good job putting together/connecting everything. So much hate for these prequels. Oml.
The arm being cut off is so poorly choreographed, Anakin pauses with his arm straight out for Dooku to Baseball-swing it off with no resistance. At least in Episode 3 Dooku's arms are cut off in a decent move
I may think it's because of anakin's poor self control and the lack of experience, AND he's a Djem So style duelist. That means he's too predictible and somewhat stiff.
He even gave himself away, such a shameful free spot Dooku had here, can't blame him for taking it tho but i really had a braincrash when i watched this for the first time, was like "WAIIT WAAAT? THE FUKKA OUTTA HERE..."
+Global Owl Anakin was whiny, while the fights were great the story told in the ot fights were better, the scene where Luke snaps against Vader in ROTJ is one of my favorite moments in movie history.
People really need to calm down and show some respect to this fight. The bit with Dooku and Anakin in the dark was actually pretty creative and this fight does not deserve the negativity directed at it.
