I call BS on that. Darth Sidious would still be able to turn the Republic into the Empire. He didn’t need Anakin to accomplish that. The Sith’s plan was a millennia in the making, and at this point the Jedi could do nothing to prevent that.
well right before this scene Yoda literally said, when asked about Anakin what are his orders if the Sith cannot be captured "execute them we must". I was suprised he even protested when it was his own order
Even if its just a mind duel (with lightsabers and the force), isnt it still “real”? I mean, that is Yoda and Sidious in the vision “fighting” right? Even if the actual fight is just in their heads..
The last season of clone wars was getting so good. I was mad that Disney cancelled it but at least we got a conclusion albeit with several story archs still missing
@@davidspeer55413 for me it is not legend as well for me they are just a side story that is not meant to be part of the main story because legend itself has it fair connection to the main storyline of the star wars itself while the thing that disney creates is actually a monstrosity to the main storyline itself.
Clones actually have a chance against Count Dooku because Form II known as Makashi is oriented for lightsaber combat not on deflecting blasters that is why Sith and Jedi abandoned Makashi. Dooku was the last
what i LOVE about this scene is that it keeps true with palpatine respecting yoda and his power as an adversary. in this scene, he calls him "MASTER yoda" and "strong". in episode 2, he directly asks him if HE specifically thinks a war is coming. in episode 3, he attempts to retreat from the fight with yoda at first, bc he knew yoda is basically his light side equivalent and doesnt want to risk losing everything now, so close to victory. and even after yoda forces the fight, he says darth vader will become "more powerful than either of them", showing he views yoda and himself as roughly equals.
It also shows Yoda has respect for Anakin as a Jedi they may not always agree on certain things mainly because Anakin's anger and pride controls him with ease but they respect each other despite both their flaws both as heroes and as people Yoda respects Anakin's courage determination and fearless demeanor and Anakin respects Yoda's wise calm and unrelenting nature they're direct opposite in the light side of the force but they both do the right thing the best they can. Yoda knows Anakin has the potential to become a sith lord but he still gave him a chance to be a Jedi and came to respect and befriend the chosen one heck Yoda shows that deep down he has many regrets with Ashoka's trial and Anakin's fall being the most obvious showing that deep down Yoda had a lot of respect for Ashoka and Anakin they were his friends and he felt he let them down in many ways I feel bad for Yoda he lived his life the best he could but he still has many regrets but he still respect all of his fellow Jedi's including Ashoka and Anakin.
To add to this, when he said “Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us” he says that as if he is anticipating his possible defeat at Yoda’s hands. He’s telling Yoda that, even if he dies, Vader will stay and become even more powerful than all.
That Palpatine put so much resources into rooting out the last jedi only highlights this fact. If he killed Yoda there, the Jedi order was finished. But he still ran because he legitimately believed he might lose in a duel with Yoda.
If you've read the novel "Lords of the Sith" one of the absolute best parts is when Darth Vader is describing Sidious's power and his lightsaber abilities. Describes it as "flowing" just the way you did. They did such a good job with him in this duel as well as the one with Maul and Savage
Yoda is just one of the coolest and most lovable character in film history. Loved that they brought a new of his kind in the mandalorian. They are so awesome. Small, cute and innocent but they can take on anyone
+Dragonic Dude Yoda returns to the Jedi Temple in time to see a naked Chancellor Palatine sprinting back to his office. Yoda: See this not I did, scarred forever I am.
@@olezka_dostoevsky Sidious is still around 60 in the Prequels if I'm not mistaken. Dooku was around 80 which is still honestly really impressive for a human
Yeah, like Dooku their moves are crisp and precise. Little windup, very mindful of reach and position. But Sidious is more feral, Yoda is more guarded.
Seeing Anakin openly duel Palpatine, even if it was just for a brief moment as part of a dream, is so damn satisfying. Although, I do think it’s really surprising that, in this reality, Anakin kills Dooku without any egging or hesitation.
one of the things that really wasn't delved into much was just how much of Anakin's identity revolved around being "the chosen one" and "The Hero of the Republic", think of from his perspective the two strongest jedi in the galaxy have finally cornered the two sith lords and have them together in the same place, plus he just watched Dooku electrocute and possibly kill his 501st troop including Rex, a lot of anger swelling in him and he's on the cusp of "fulfilling his destiny". Just some food for thought
S.G. Johnson this was an illusion too see if sidious could break yoda but wasn't the right time until....... he destroyed him and yoda had to flee in episode 3
"Did we succeed in turning Yoda, my Master?" "We did not, Lord Tyrannus. And you got your ass handed to you by Skywalker. You're fired." "But that wasn't-" "FIRED!"
People completely forget that this vision is the completion of Yoda’s training by the Whills. It’s his final test. He even fears it. And yet he refuses to sacrifice Anakin to stop Sidious. It’s perfect.
@@samisikdar5417 Playing a dangerous game you are. Sacrificing your own life for a cause you believe in is one thing. But to sacrifice the lives of others for a chance at victory is another. Who are you to judge who's lives are worth sacrificing and who's are not? What cause must be met for it to be justified? The value of someone's life, evil or not, is to be judged by their own hand. When someone else starts making that decision for you is when you have to be really careful.
correction on how it would be spoke 1:50 yoda: take him together we will. go slowly in the left you will- anakin: NO IM TAKING HIM NOW yoda: NO SKYWALKER NO!
It'll piss you off to know there's a story arc with a fight involving Sidious, Dooku, Darth Maul and Grevious that never made it to the lost episodes...
+The Ice Viper You can see it in the Son of Dathomir comic. Theres a video on youtube just going through it. It's really cool and a shame that TCW was caught off so early.
I know it's a vision, but that shoes just how bad ass Yoda is. In that vision he dueled Sidious and very much held his own, while simultaneously taking the bringing force lightning and using the force to lift Anakin to safety. That's incredible focus and concentration. I very much believe Yoda could have done that in a real scenario.
Yoda is not more powerful than sidius its explained that in his thoughts he understood that besides him being the most powerful and respected light being in the force he just didnt have it the sith had adapted had advance they had prepared for centuries for that moment while the jedi still used the same tricks and skills they learned thousands of year before
It’s just occurred to me, I’m pretty sure this is the first and only time in the entire Clone Wars series that we actually see Yoda engaging another in lightsaber combat
Because evedyone will losse yoda knows every lightsaber style and the one he uses is extremely hard to deal with and i mean i get that look at the pressure yoda puts up
if theres one thing consistent in all star wars, its that palpatine clearly has some sort of respect for yoda, or at least his power. in episode 2, he directly asks him if HE specifically thinks a war is coming. in episode 3, he attempts to retreat from the fight with yoda at first, bc he knew yoda is basically his light side equivalent and didnt want to risk losing everything now, so close to victory. and even after yoda forces the fight, he says darth vader will become "more powerful than either of them", showing he views yoda and himself as roughly equals.
This is a test of Yoda's will. Had he allowed Anakin to die, he would have been lost to the dark side having given in to selfishness, unfit to train Luke in the ways of the force, and Darth Sidious would have won with the death of the Chosen One. Sidious knows this, and tries to tempt Yoda into killing Anakin. However, because Yoda is strong in the light side, he did not succumb to temptation. In the end, the Emperor loses thanks to Yoda.
Kamui God Probably for a brief moment. Yoda was ridiculously old at this time and the dark side takes a considerable toll on your body. It would have probably diminished his life span even quicker.
@@hefrov10 true, but all hed need is a brief moment lol sidious was yoda level inn his 50s, imagine what nearly 900 years of meditation could turn into
I think what's absolutely amazing about these animations is how, specifically for lightsaber users, they're able to portray fighting styles extremely well. Yes, Yoda is so different because of his body, but even between Sheev and Anakin, even to Obi Wan and Maul, it's fantastic.
he doesn't want Anakin dead as long as he can be turned, if such appears to be no longer an option he will kill Anakin without a second thought and replace him with someone else
Man, Tim Curry was great as Sidious. I mean you can't beat Ian McDiarmid and Ian Abercrombie but Curry did a damn good job, which is the usual for him. He's an amazing voice actor.
Ciaran McGuinness Yeah, Tim Curry does do an over all better villain voice than Abercrombie but I prefer Abercrombie as Sidious. Well as far as animation goes, McDiarmid is still the best Sidious over all.

GalaxyNeir i saw the full video. and it does apply to all cartoon hooded characters. their hood being glued to their heads even when doing insane backflips and sprints.
Sideous is one of the best duelists in the SW universe, hes also rather smart- he wouldnt slip up especially when hes fighting Yoda who could easily defeat him if he ignored Anakin
I like to imagine that one day Sidious just forgets to put up his hood and just does his Sith stuff without it on and he's all like "you shall never know who i am" and the Jedi are like *visible confusion*?
830 years in the Jedi Order will craft you into such, despite his supposedly crippling arthritis. Funny how he actually joined the Jedi Order when he was seventy.
Yoda was 70... which means he was a grown and wise person and already lived another kind of life which showed him that the path of the jedi makes more sense. "too old" means that the kid already grew a bond with its parents which, if taken from the parents for jedi training, can lead the kid to the dark side (see anakin).
BlacK40k I was just quoting Yoda however he began his training as some random shmo who was looking for a job and after he crashed on a planet and meeting a stranded jedi he decided Ehh might as well become a jedi And thus began the legend of grand Master yoda
@@alonsofrancescutti4956Anakin dying means the assassination attempt on Palpatine doesn’t get interrupted. The Senate turns on the Jedi as a result but Order 66 is never executed.
This is a clear case of the Force being so incredibly explicit as to almost say "I gave you so many signs all across the Clone Wars conflict, this is the last chance to understand what will happen and prevent Order 66, YOU CANNOT BE THIS OBLIVIOUS". Yoda proved it wrong.
the way I see it, it's the force balancing itself. If you look at the Jedi in the republic they were corrupt and one could see order 66 as the force cleaning house
+Nathanael Heil well the problem with that theory is that in episode 2 before the war started they already created the plans for the planet destroying death star. So forget about the Jedi, billions of innocent lives were already in danger. The force wouldn't balance that lol
Everybody keeps saying the Jedi were corrupt...the only thing the Jedi did that could be considered "corrupt" was when Mace Windu wanted to execute Palpatine without a trial, which made absolute fucking sense, because Palpatine would've just influenced the judge with the Force and gotten a very light sentence or no sentence at all. Heck, he probably would have just convinced the entire court that the Jedi had turned to the Dark Side and that they needed to be destroyed. So please, enough with the "the Jedi are corrupt" mantra.
It’s so badass to see Anakin and Yoda fighting together. Just the two of them, they make a good team. Then again very cool to see Sidious who was unknown at the time in action, and with Dooku as well
"The future is not yours...yet." That line could have been cheesy if not for the "yet" at the end. Instead, I think it made it one of the best and most forboding lines in this series. Love Yoda.
@@dexterjettster8875 yeah the outcome is that palpatine losses. sure, 99% of the jedi die, but palpatine does also die thanks to luke (fuck episode 9 btw, it isnt canon), so the future really wasnt palpatines
@@thahoule7924 Well what Yoda alludes to here actually describes the Rise of Skywalker better than it does Return of the Jedi. He says that the path to force ghostedom could bring victory "not in the clone wars but through all time". The force ghosts had nothing to with Vader's sacrifice and Emperor's defeat in Return, IN FACT, they adviced Luke to kill Vader. But in the Rise of Skywalker, the Jedi Force Ghosts from the past encourage and empower Rey enough from the beyond so that he could face Sithari God Palpatine alone. So the path Qui-Gon found eventually brought victory (TROS) instead of hindering it (ROTJ).
@@dexterjettster8875 Yoda is shown a vision through the Force of Palpatine's defeat. He essentially sees bits of the Original Trilogy. It is revealed to Yoda that victory will come through Anakin's son, Luke. How exactly, he doesn't know, but the Force promises him the total and utter defeat of the Sith if he's just willing to trust the Force. This was written before the retcon, half-assed, nostalgia marketed, fanon film, Ep 9. The Force does defeat Palpatine. Not through an awesome clash of armies or Luke melting his face off with a Lightsaber, but with humility and the humiliation of Sidious. It is so beyond Sidious and so out of the plans made by the planner of planners that he never sees it coming. His Queen-piece, that he assumed total control over, betrayed him. Anakin did the complete opposite of what any Sith believes in. He sacrificed himself out of the love for his son. Luke threw away power with the toss of his lightsaber. Anakin tossed away his power when he threw his master, Sidious, down the shaft, ending his own life but saving his son. Anakin finally learned how to save someone he loved from dying. Let go. Trust the Force.
@@thahoule7924 I agree that episode 9 isn't cannon because its stupid. But i mean he kind of succeeded in beating the republic. The future became his as short as it was.
Palpatine and Yoda are in a league of their own. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing the two most powerful beings in the galaxy duel eachother, their dexterity, agility and raw force power are a spectacle to behold.
Interesting how Count Dooku says the truth to Kenobi both in Ep2 and CloneWars (about the sith controlling the senate, etc) but jedies never believe him - and here Palpatine does the same trick: he never lies, yet the reputation of the sith as master manipulators preceeds them, so what he say doesn't reach Yoda's ears.
@@maxisaev568 To be fair, Obi-Wan had little reason to believe Dooku after he saw the Confederacy of Independent Systems' inner council forming and saw that it was a Who's Who of corrupt corporations (including the Trade Federation still let by Nute Gunray), explicitly planning to start a war, and by the time he was in any position to report on it Dooku was already outed as a Sith. And in this case, Sidious never identifies himself as Palpatine, just as the Sith Lord who will do Bad Things when trying to tempt Yoda to start on a path to the Dark Side.
Plot twist: Sidious: "Let him go, let him fall and you will ssstop all that I will deeewwww!" Yoda: "...okay!" (Let's Anakin fall so he can resume his fight) Sidious: "Oh shit, there goes my plans for real now..."
fun fact: yoda could really just let go of anakin there because the jedi code is all about having no affection itself and preventing the sith which means that if yoda has to choose between letting go of anakin and ending the sith once more or the true message of this scene which implies that in order for jedi to win they must evolve which means that anakin must become the new grand master of the new jedi order and yoda's death would be the burial or the end of the old ways of the jedi
@@joveninocando1386 No. As a Jedi you are allowed to have feelings for people and it’s a Jedi’s duty to be selfless. Letting Anakin go would be selfish and a path to the dark side.
Good to know that Rex was included, even if it's just a dream/illusion. Just shows how much respect Rex has to even the Jedi and Sith, even if Rex got shocked by Force Lightning.
"Why not let him go? Let him die, and you can stop all that I will do?" Love how this hinted at how Anakin would be an integral part of Palpatine's plans for the future.
Well, that's why Palphatine encourages Anakin to kill him in ROTS. That second fight could have been seen as a second chance that lead to the same result- so at that point yeah- 'your're fired'
After this scene, Sidious probably told him "Oh, by the way, I will make sure Skywalker does not hesitate again. I suggest you be on your guard." And then he died.
Lol! Yoda's like. . ."Dammit Skywalker, how many times have we told you NOT to rush in!? Didn't you learn anything from your first encounter with Dooku on Genosis!?"
The beard was so sharp, it punctured the hull of an empire class -Fire Nation- Republic battleship, leaving thousands to -drown at sea- get lost in the vacuum of space. Because. It was so sharp.
Sidious respects Yoda's knowledge of the force and his power. What he hates about Yoda are his morals and the fact that he resists the dark side, but Sidious could never deny the power Yoda possesses.
@Rudra Mazumder That would be interesting, but with Yoda being 800 years old and having extreme amounts of knowledge of the force and mastery of lightsaber combat, I doubt he'd want to be Sidious's apprentice if he fell to the darkside. Sidious would probably shit his pants and have to come up with a plan to eliminate a darkside Yoda, which wouldn't be easy.
Even in the real world generals respect the opposing force. Look at Rommel during WW2, he was the enemy but the Allies always respected his skills in the field
I like for that one moment, Anakin and Yoda stood as one. That moment gave me goodebumps. It's like Yoda trusted Anakins skill enough to stand as an equal against Darth Sidious
Dez_The_Asshole Yeah ‘better’ then the movies 😂 say what you want about the movies rebels is the trash bin of Star Wars so it can never compare, helicopter lightsabers seriously? Better then movies? LOL 😂
Because everyone bitched about the prequels. I agree Clone Wars was amazing and they should have never ever cancelled it. One of thr reasons I won't watch any current star wars movies or shows because I think Disney is ruining star wars.
The thing that I absolutely love about watching Sidious duel is how easy it is to see his mastery of the lightsaber. It shows especially in his duels with lesser opponents and he’s more fluid with someone closer to his height, but it’s fascinating to see the Lord of the Sith vs the Master of the Jedi and see how incredibly powerful they both are. Watching Sidious duel is just so cool to watch
I love how throughout the clone wars, neither yoda nor sidious had any difficulties in any battle they were involved in, but then struggle against each other
Yoda's powers are truly amazing. Granted, Sidious is extremely powerful too, and Anakin would certainly be the strongest if he matured his power ... but Yoda has a fantastic affinity with the Force. It is as if the Force itself is her friend.
Sidious: "Let him die and you can stop all that I will do." Yoda: "For peace in Galaxy sacrifice you I must." Sidious: "No, I didnt mean tha (Anakin dies) Oh shit."
Letting him fall would be the selfish Dark Side thing to do. It also would have symbolized his willingness to allow Anakin to fall to the Dark Side. Sacrificing himself to save another is the righteous Jedi thing to do. It also foreshadows Anakin's sacrifice for Luke.
*"The dark side of the force, is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be, **_unnatural_** ."* _-Palpatine_ Clearly abilities such as Sith Sorcery is incredibly unnatural and just incredible in general.

Why in the hell are the clone troopers running TOWARDS the deadly lightsaber wielding Sith Lords as they shoot at them? Isn't that just making it easier for the melee fighters?
Clones are taught to never run if they think they can win, they probably wanted to overwhelm him, its not like theyd survive if they ran and if they did theyd die like cowards
+Veloziraptor111 This, I think it makes much better sense for the clones to hang back and shoot and if sidious reflects any bullets they can be protected by anakin.
What I really like about this is just how both fluid and erratic sidious's movement here is. It really shows both his skill and absolute frenzy in battle. Not to imply that Ian McDiarmid did badly in his fight against Yoda, but he's only human, and rather old besides. You can really see him nearly match Yoda's absolute mastery of form IV, Juyo's wild and hyper-aggressive style really being shown off here.

One day later... Yoda: Found a Sith Lord I did. Darth sidious his name was. Same height as you he does have. Palpatine: Oh, that is strange and coincidental. Continue on finding who this man is. His death would mean the end to the Clone Wars.

Obi-Wan: "Chancelor Palpatine, Sith Lords are our specialty." (Count Dooku approaches). Dooku: "Your swords please. You wouldn't want to make a mess of things in front of the Dark Lord of The Sith." Anakin: "Oh don't worry Count we'll make this quick." Obi-Wan: "You won't get away this time." Dooku: "Who said I was talking about me." (Dooku said smirking). Dooku: "Kenobi you remember what I told you three years ago. How the Republic is under the control of The Dark Lord of The Sith?" Palpatine: "Why believe anything he saying. He cut off your arm Anakin, and tried to kill both of you on many occasions." Dooku: "I assure you what I tell you is true. The Dark Lord is sitting right there." (Dooku said as he pointed the hilt of his lightsaber at Palpatine). (Palpatine's face contorted into one of anger). (Anakin and Obi-Wan felt a tension in the room they had not felt before. Dooku did not draw his blade but kept it ready just encase one of the Jedi or his master tried something). (Palpatine wanted to kill Dooku right there, but did not want to expose himself). (Dooku would then talk about conversations that happened between him and Palpatine in private, and about how Palpatine got the Sandpeople/Tusken Raiders to kill Anakin's mother). (Both Jedi, especially Anakin would look in disbelief at Palpatine as Dooku went on. He even told them about how he wanted to use Anakin. It was all starting to make sense. Obi-Wan and Anakin drew their lightsabers not at Dooku, but at Palpatine). Obi Wan: "In the name of the Galactic Republic..." Anakin: "You are under arrest." (Palpatine sent out a wave of Force lightning pushing them back, and then freed himself of his restraints). Dooku: "Get up you fools." (Dooku told them as he went over to them). Dooku: "It will take all of us to defeat him." (They all readied themselves as Palpatine got up, as two lightsabers came out of his sleves). Palpatine: "It's treason then." (Palpatine then leaped at them from across the room red sabers twirling and clashing with Dooku's, Kenobi's, and Skywalker's saber's). (The fight to decide the fate of the galaxy had begun). Anyone is free to use this for a what if/versus, but be sure to credit me for the idea.
In my alternate timeline he was never truly on Palpatine's side. Sure he fought against the Republic and knew it would ruin his name, but he was willing to do it if it would stop Sidious. Dooku knew Sidious' plans were coming close to completion, and knew Sidious would have him replaced with Skywalker, so in my version he thought what you read in my scenario would be the best course of action. This is my version of an alternate timeline, you can like it or not, doesn't matter to me. If you don't go ahead and make your own. I hope that clears some things up.
