i dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
John, I came into this going to complain about these clone systems and people wanting to abandon the retro consoles. Well, I can’t do that. This does look like a quality system and can do so much. Another great video!
This console plays genesis games with AWESOME detail! The games look so good! The price is a bit steep but... if you’re a retro gamer/collector I would highly think about getting this one! The sound quality is awesome too
Great video! Amazing, I live in Finland and I got the Mega Sg exactly on it’s release date that is today. I got to hand it to Analogue, they really made sure to send the console in time, pretty awesome. I’ve tested it couple of hours or so already and I’m in love with it. It does pretty much everything right.
Yeah i get one from my wife for my 40iest birthday. It's a huge pain in the a** to get over here to Germany but it will be awesome. Very nice review with the important things worked out very well. Greetings from good old Europe!
My first console and experience with videogames ever was the Sega Genesis model 2 bundled with columns, I still remember going to buy it with my dad in 93 at nobody beats the wiz, my mom paid for it. I loved playing mortal Kombat 2 on my Genesis.
Great review. I just got mine yesterday & ultra core was not on the system. I upgraded it to the latest firmware 4.2 (i was on 4.1) & Ultra Core is now on the system. I hope this helps someone.
I got the Mega Sg today and I’m very impressed. The games look and sound better than ever! This really motivates me to build up my Mega Drive/Genesis collection. The games are still mostly reasonably priced compared to SNES for example.
Mine should be here tomorrow. I was concerned over the controller but after hearing it works well from a few trusted sources makes me happy I sprung for it. Thanks for your review John, always fun stuff!
@@Stumpfs it is IMO one of the best controllers 8bitdo made. The SN30 was pretty good but there was something slightly off, the M30 2.4 is near perfect after updating firmware. 5 stars.
Great video John I'm actually really impressed that virtual racing actually did run on there and also cool to see that my Sega CD model 1 would work on this
I got the Super NT but was on the fence on the Mega SG, if John thinks it’s phenomenal it’s gotta be great. Plus it’s a great way to relive the games my childhood friends played since I never had a Sega.
John, have you had any issues jailbreaking the Mega SG? I've done a Firmware update but couldn't play my SD card with downloaded Roms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Quick question. How does this compare to the Mega Retron HD? I am mostly interested in playing just original Genesis cartridges, and it seems that the Mega Retron will do that well, at a much lower pricepoint. Plus convert to a HDMI.
Hey John, how you been? I'm getting a Mega SG soon, seems great in HDMI lol. Please I need an advice... Which would be a great handheld for Sega games only? Everybody says Switch however its library is way too short for Sega games. Thanks man Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Is there any lag in the wireless controller for the Mega Sg? We could use your thought's on that John. I played an NES Classic mini and used a wireless controller to play Double Dragon II, there was "noticeable" lag in the wireless controller. It wasn't as crisp and responsive as the original NES controllers.
@@johnhancockretro It was a friend's console and wireless controller. He more than likely got the wireless controller at Wal-Mart or Gamestop, I can find out. The lag wasn't terrible but it was noticeable in my opinion having played a ton of Double Dragon 2 for the NES on original hardware back in the day.
Why not the Hyperkin Mega Retron HD!? It plays everything perfect, including Virtua Racing. Good video output and good sound effects! For 1/4 of the price! This is a good machine but 200 dollars is overpriced!
Hi John, I agree the system is great and made very well. However, I have found Walter Peyton Football for the Sega Master System will not work. It's interesting because if I try to play this games though an emulator on a PC or play it on Retron 5 the screen just blinks. Well, that's exactly what it does on the Mega sg. This makes me wonder about the hardware. The only thing Walter Peyton Football will play on is orginal hardware, OR, oddly enough, the Super Retro Trio with a power base mini. Just passing this info along.
Apparently you can play sms games on everdrive was watching another review on this console. If i recall correctly you have to use a master system everdrive and the converter.
You need a way to run a patched or alternate-region Sega CD BIOS. The good news is that you can do this with a Mega Everdrive and a Mega Sg (works on an original Genesis/Megadrive too). Presumably, a jailbreak will let you do that with just the Mega Sg.
does this have an enhanced fm sound option for when you use the master system adapter, because the japanese master systems had better sound than their american console counterparts.
@@johnhancockretro Nice ^^ I bought the genesis collection for the ps4, and i love it, as a kid who was borne in 91' i missed alot of the 8-16bit classics. And funny the master system tickels my gaming heart so hard, i just starrded to collect for it, Shinobi and The Smurfs, and wonderboy in monsterworld are my first true master system games i own now. But no system to play it, till i just lookt at your vid. Hahaha so take my money analouge! Thnx for your time to make the videos. I always enjoy your channel ❤ All the love from The Netherlands.
im using the original genesis everdrive md flash cart and the sega master system roms do load! after I selected a master system game in the everdrive menu I got a black I screen, however I selected the built in game ultracore then selected run cartdridge and the master system game was then running! try that.
I wanted to buy this console for my 40th birthday as I'd played MD & MS games on a poor clone console for nearly 10 years after my Megadrive failed. Unfortunately, with the price of shipping and duty, getting it to the UK just wasn't justifiable for me. Instead I bought an original Megadrive and an old CRT TV with a Scart/RGB cable for optimum display, which I'm having lots of fun with and also plays my Genesis carts just fine too. The Mega SG looks cool and (as usual) I enjoyed your video. Your passion and knowledge for the retro games I also love keeps me coming back here for your opinion.....But is the SG better or on par with having the real set up? (for much less cash and much more space)......As great as the thing looks, I don't regret my choice and probably won't ship one over when I obtain more disposable income.
Hey John as a fellow sega collector I was curious if you could do a comparison test of the 8bitdo m30 vs the krikzz joyzz controller. I know that 8bitdo makes good stuff I just have seen reviews that the krikzz has better response time as far as input lag. I personally don't care that the krikzz is more expensive I just want the best responding controller. Either way keep up the sega content. Love me some sega.
Great job! Like I said to MJR , would like to see this up against the Mega Retron HD, I plan to do that but like to see and give that opinion to those who can’t afford this option.
For the PAL versions of the master systems games that I have tried you have to crop the left hand side of the game by about 15% so you end up playing an off centre screen, sure you can crop the other side to balance it up but then you have lost 30% of your playing area ! And are playing in tall thin mode. Not great. Better off with an emulator.
You should do a review using J-Carts, probably with Micro Machines 2 with 8 players at the same time. I do not think that Polymega will be able to handle the additional ports and will be great to fire up The Clone Wars.
Looks great. Wish I had more Genesis games though, otherwise this would actually be worth a try. I just bought a Retron 5 yesterday for $79. I'm sure this plays Genesis games better though.
