Also the old term for demigods or superpowered brings (in Greco-Roman mythology) is Heroes. And if Syndrome thinks of himself as Kronos then he’s two layers above all Heroes and even is above the gods

He could have been a great hero in his own way if not for his obsession and hatred that fueled him Hubris I believe they call it

Yea the movie definetly shows that he is gifted. Might not have traditional super strength, fly, or shoot ice but he could literally designed machines that could be used to kill superheroes. His obsessions were his end

His resentment had grown so far as to feel anger and jealousy towards the very concept of superheroism itself, like he was being excluded from some special club. He only saw the 'super' part rather than the 'hero' part, not considering the great responsibility that comes with it (which we see in his reckless charade near the end).

Ok so he holds onto it but not as tightly and allowing the bitterness to feaster leading to his "when everyone is super no one is super" idea, but instead of focusing that wholly on his own gain and selfish egotism had instead actually followed through on that mantra. It wouldn't be the healthiest emotional state true but it would still make him a major figure and a heap of money while potentially removing the need for supers.

Syndrome is one of the faces of the next generation of heroes long forgotten of the days of Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone. Similar to The Boyz, the new generation of heroes could be much more commercialized than it was in Bob's era. As civilian life for him was dull and unfulfilling, Bob inevitably wants to get back into what his true passion is in being a superhero. But now Bob is passed his prime and is behind the times and ends up just getting in the way and embarrassing himself as a relic from the past who not only can't keep up with the new generation of heroes but even the lower rating new generation of villans get the best of him. Now, in order to save what little dignity his name has left and to reinvent his image Bob thinks to turn to none other than Buddy, the most famous and higest rating hero but now it's Buddy given Bob the cold shoulder

That could be but I'm not so sure as he still couldn't remember the kids name so he really hasn't been paying attentions at all to Buddy. Also brushing buddy off isn't really the same as explaining the issues.

Plus, buddy actively interfered with an arrest of an explosive using villain for his own personal gain, so I don't blame Mr incredible for acting so coldly to him by the end of the past section of the movie. I respectfully disagree. I think you’re way off base with your interpretation of that scene @kamalasb7292 . There’s no mention or any suggestions of stalking in that scene, Mr Incredible only mentions Buddy making him sign lots of autographs and taking pictures. You’re taking quite a leap with saying that scene implied that Mr. Incredible was being stalked by him. At best, your assertion is a possibility only because he entered Mr Incredible’s vehicle without permission, which the scene seems to imply is the first instance of Buddy violating Mr Incredible’s space and privacy based on their exchange. And Mr Incredible also apologized to Buddy or rather Syndrome later during their first encounter on the island, which would imply that he understood the way he interacted with Buddy as a kid in the past was wrong and a big mistake.

I'll have to agree with at @Getdaycornouttamyface here. It's an interesting theory, but when he's talking to Buddy in the car he only recognizes him from his fan club, which is a pretty appropriate place for Mr. Incredible to encounter his number one fan, not to mention that he has a hard time remembering his name initially. If he had been stalking him, I feel like his reaction to Buddy would have been way more severe than it already was. Instead, it was more like a "who are you? Oh yeah, that kid. Why the hell are you in my car?" type moment not an "oh my god this kid won't leave me alone, get away from me now you creep." moment. Again, interesting theory but I don't see any indicators that point to Buddy stalking him before this moment.

That's what i thought. Often when we grow older, we understand the actions of the adults in our lives. You'd think with Buddy's intelligence he would have worked out by the time he became an adult that being a superhero sidekick as a child would be dangerous, but he instead focused on his hurt feelings.

That's another thing about toxic fans, they take everything very personal

what's funny with Syndrome is.. he still deifies him even while trying to kill him, he still has mad respect and idolization, hence why the very last hero he uses to improve the robot is his idol.

He's also similar to Stan from the Eminem song. He's basically Stan on steroids.

There have been plenty of great western animated movies! Puss and Boots 2, the Spiderverse films, Nimona, even that new TMNT film looks solid. Western animation is making a huge comeback rn

@@N_o196 Besides TMNT I'd say you're on point IMO! Western Animation of good quality is popping up in many places. It's just that when we say "It's not around anymore" or "It's not good" that just means the former dominant provider of the medium i.e. Disney/Pixar isn't making good animation anymore. However, that's just ONE studio and we can't act as if they have a monopoly on good quality animation because their competition is destroying them.

Exactly, I can't get behind the idea of how Mr. Incredible should have been nicer when he's literally on the job fighting CRIME. Like, literal robbers with guns and a Frenchmen with explosions and shit. Any rational person on the job with the possibility to encounter these things or more would tell the kid to rightly fuck off and they don't owe him the time of day. If anyone is to blame, its the parents who didn't explain to him why stalking and invading an active crime in place is a bad idea. Mr. Incredible is not his dad, he has no obligation to teach him morals and values.

Buddy had such a warped way of handling things too, he thought just popping up saying “I’m your sidekick” and stating he knows all his moves would make him instantly get the job, he didn’t do anything to earn it

​@@mrcritical6751and given how absolutely adamant Mr incredible is in that moment to work alone and never take sidekicks, something he only relents on years later when his own children are in direct danger to the point he's not even shown directly working with his girlfriend/future wife, there's likely a history there. While it's true buddy as a child would have little comprehension of adult emotions, he should have as he grew up.

I’m pretty sure that vile straight up says his actions weren’t right. This was mostly him explaining how he got to being as bad as he ended up, not a he was right type of situation.

Let's be realistic, there's only one group who thinks this is normal and it's the gender Buddy belongs to. Because in America, they literally harm or kill people over hurt feelings all the time. I saw a news story just the other day of a man who beat a 59yo woman mercilessly because she didn't say good morning back to him. We have a population of very mentally unstable and unhinged men in the first world, just look at the femicide rate...

Yeah... Mr. Incredible definitely treated the kid poorly and there's no denying that. But at the same time, when he sent him back home in the back of a police car and called his mother, he had just gone through the stress of almost being responsible of the death of a civilian child. Those superheros still have plenty of human DNAs after all. It's hard to blame him for such a reaction in the heat of the moment. He just wanted to make sure the kid would never try something dangerous like that again for his own good. He wasn't antagonizing Buddy, he was legitimately worried for his well-being.

It’s understandable that Mr. Incredible wasn’t in a state to explain why Buddy couldn’t be his sidekick, due to needing to deal with a villain, but, afterwards, he could have talked to Buddy.

@@speedracer2008 I 100% agree with you. My comment wasn't about trying to argue against the points made in the video. I just thought it was a bit harsh against Bob. Like the comment I replied to stated, he acknowledged he was wrong, that he made a mistake. And even if it doesn't erase all the frustration Buddy felt towards him, I think painting Mr. Incredible as the indirect responsible for all the deaths Syndrome caused is really excessive.

Bob stated he’d been patient and nice to Buddy when he was bothering him at The Fanclub and went above what any normal person would expect from a celebrity to one of his fans. It’s only when Buddy got creepy and started stalking him he got aggressive and frustrated cause the kid was actively getting in the way of crime scenes, breaking into his property and refused to even listen to the man he supposedly wanted to work for

Oh for sure, it was super big brain to make him a comedic villain because the real life dated American viewpoints he represents are just THAT silly in retrospect. And even more clever is the subversion of the army general being the level-headed one, trying to not escalate and using the least amount of force when possible.

Without Buddy, Supers wouldn't have gotten banned and would still be around. It's solely Buddy's fault for that, he caused the track of the train to blow up, requiring Mr. Incredible to stop it, inadvertently injuring the passangers which fueled the lawsuits that got them banned. If Buddy wasn't stalking him, he would have soundly defeated Bomb Voyage, went to his wedding and at worse got sued by the suicidal person but without the extra damages (caused by Buddy's stupidity), it likely wouldn't have done much damage.

I think the real evil of the film was Chef Skinner Ego just took his job a bit too seriously, while Skinner was just a greedy asshole.

As Ego himself hints at, there is a culture of arrogance among food critics, & if Ego had gained high status & fame among his peers then that would've only amplified the toxic effects of such an elitist culture. When Chef Gasteau began publicly using his motto "Anyone can cook" to promote his cookbooks & (possibly) his own TV cooking show, Ego seems to have taken that statement as an open rebuke, perhaps even a personal insult: what Gasteau or Ego does isn't reserved for a gifted few, but in fact is achievable by anyone who has the courage to believe in themselves. Thus Ego may have issued his fateful, negative review of Gusteau's restaurant purely as a vendetta to strike down what he saw as an existential threat to everything Ego believed in: that those who succeed in life do so because of their natural superiority to the rest of "the herd" & not for any other reason. Chef Gusteau died & his restaurant suffered not because they'd committed any real harm to Ego, but because the powerful food critic couldn't see beyond his own petty animosity -- in other words, Ego deliberately set out to hurt Gusteau out of sheer egotism. We see this clearly when Ego reacts in shock & horror when his assistant timidly informs him that Gusteau's restaurant has regained its popularity among the public -- sacre bleu! Gusteau's couldn't have recovered because it SHOULDN'T: it didn't deserve success, & Ego himself declares that his scathing review was supposed to be The Last Word on the matter. When Ego himself goes to confront Chef Linguini he taunts the young chef by saying that so far he's been *playing the game without an opponent* ... because Ego has long ago lost sight of himself as an objective judge. He is determined to be Linguini's ultimate adversary, no holds barred ...until the entree he is finally served at Gusteau's unexpectedly transports Ego back to a nearly lost, cherished memory when the simple joys of good home cooking meant the world to him as an innocent youth. Ego finally reconnects w/ the fact that what should matter most to him is praising excellence wherever he finds it, not destroying restaurants & ruining careers. Only after that crucial turning point does Ego reconsider his point of view, culminating w/ his 2nd review of Gusteau's in which he admits [paraphrasing] -- I now believe I have begun to truly understand what Gusteau was trying to say in that motto of his, "Anyone can cook", to which I once took such great offense. I honestly don’t think Buddy would listen, Bob tried to talk to him and he kept interrupting and acting like he was gonna say yes, Bob was gonna flat out reject him and tell him why what he’s doing is creepy but Buddy stops him and starts rambling about how he knows all of his moves. If he was a fan of another hero like say Frozone he’d likely try to speak to him and quickly realise nothing short of an aggressive rejection would get through to him

If he had won there would have been an outbreak of violence to an uncontrollable degree because let's be real if he gave everyone powers, a lot of chaos would insue as not many people are noble heroes

I agree. I have always viewed him as having some kind of personality disorder. Made even worse by the environment. If given the best possible conditions to grow up in (loving & nurturing parents, as well as an environment that takes his huge intellect in to account) he would probably have become a distant/cold, bit humorous scientist. Given the upbringing, he would've most likely created gadgets for the supers, or weapons for the government (unsure if that's something good) He could've been a decent person, but most likely not a great one, personality wise. But then again, does he need to be? His major drive in the movie is his hatred towards Bob. If that is gone, what is replacing it? Did he love creating for the sake of it? Would he create weapons on the "good side" for them to later abuse without him getting involved?

Got to paint Syndrome as a megathreat somehow. Those other supers where not pushovers

I am pretty sure Syndrome also killed various Supervillains even as a kid if they were also in hiding despite now being in power to be able to take over with the Super Ban. Not like criminals will obey laws unless if they are dead.

Shishio was the GOAT! Everything about him was epic. His ruthlessness, his idealogy, his fighting style, his intellect. Even his broad was top tier! I didn't bother watching the rest of the show after his death. Like Aizen was to Bleach, Shishio was the ultimate villain of the series in my eyes.

I think he was at least strawberry-blonde as a kid 😜
