What is your off hand / support hand doing in two handed bowling? Can you do a slow motion video explaining this? Love your videos.

Hey man. It’s nice to see the younger players with a good passion for the sport and helping others. I’m 22 myself so i definitely encourage the youth to hit the lanes more when I see it. Don’t worry about the stutters you’re fine. I do it too! I also play 2 handed and will take these tips into account! Also keep working out man! You look amazing. If I had one tip for any future videos like this maybe add some chapters through video timestamps. It’ll help when people need to go back to a certain part or reference it when training!

I'm a 68-year-old one-handed bowler who had not bowled in over 20 years because I had been working my tail off at the end of my career. Now that I'm retired, I got back on the lanes with some new equipment and almost fell on my face because I didn't realize what kind of muscle mass I had lost! So I've been working on that since February', and can now carry a 180 plus average on an open bowling burnt house shot. I would be tempted to work on trying to handed bowling, but realize that I should be at least wearing a motorcycle helmet or something along those lines first, and get in the gym and do some squats so I can be solid at the delivery point. I think with a little workout regimen, I would be able to get my legs strong enough to generate enough ball speed to get it somewhere between 17 and 20 mph. Fortunately my right arm is still strong so I would be able to get that 450 to 500 rev rate at least on fresh oil. Since I'm used to being a one-handed bowler, I'm wondering if I should just stay one-handed and work on getting the ball speed and rev rate there sort of along the lines of EJ Tackett. When I was your ages I was thinking of going pro because I had all the tools and the mindset, except I did not want to live the life of touring and hitting the rabbit squad every week until I won. I really enjoy and appreciate and respect what you guys do here, and came here because of your dad's program. I'm surprised you didn't name your page And We Bowl (roaming lanes 8 thru 28)!

Great tutorial and great camera work. Learned from all the sections but the thumb positioning puts it over the top. I had been spreading out the thumb for support but resting the ball on the right of the arm, and closing the gap of the thumb spread, gets the ball getting closer to the palm for a cleaner release. Learned from the practice session at the end. Much easier than rolling a ball across the floor and picking it up. Will use the 1.3.5 as a warmup, the stomp 5th step works for me, and getting under the ball is priority. Best video I've seen for beginning 2 hands!

I love this tips video. I think I mentioned before that I bowled in league for a bunch of years in my younger days, I wish I had tried 2 handed back the. I do remember my first 1 times bowling I did use 2 hands, and was kinda laughed at and that discouraged me from further pursuing the 2 handed. I'm sure if I get the opportunity to go bowling again ( I'm 61) I will definitely be doing 2 handed. Thanks guys. Blessings

With all due respect; i think you will be a much better and more consistent bowler if you stand closer to the foul lane, hold the ball up higher in your stance, walk much slower to your release, bend your elbow, bend your knee more at your post, and ditch conventional grip to finger tip. I bet you money, your ball speed will go up, your rev rate will go up, your accuracy will go up, and youll create the tilt youre looking for. Youre not that tall, take advantage of that, and stand closer, youre accuracy will go up. Holding the ball higher will increase your ball speed. Walking slower will help you generate power with your legs, instead of your shoulders doing all the work, plus walking slower will allow yourself to bend your knee more in your post and stay balanced; balance is the absolute more important fundamental in two handed bowling. Also, once you have more knee bend, you'll be more consistent with releasing at your foot, which will also give you more ball speed and revs. Fingertip will obviously give you more revs as well. I like conventional too, so i get it. Dude, when you explained the 5 step approach, and said to stand closer in the beginning.... that shot looked fantastic for youre style. I think you should stand there and refine it to your game. Play like belmo, youve got the passion, and the ability, copy it all... be kobe. One more thing, another thing no two handers ever talk about is their left arm, if you bend your right elbow, always focus on bending your left elbow with it! Your swing will stay closer to your body, and youll generate soooo much power! I dont understand why no one talks about this... Anyways, I hope i didnt come across as a douche, i just think you can be extremely good with a few changes.

When do you roll your wrist. if I keep my hand under the ball it tends to roll straight off my hand with no hook. I also noticed Bemo stands in the center walks left and releases acrioss the lane. It looks like you stay in the center, I always stay left and walk straight and release from the same point as belmo. I don't think Im bending over enough so the ball tends to loft. I also have a 4 step approach
@Bowling_Bros
@Bowling_Bros 8 месяцев назад
Make sure to test which way you like to follow through. I found myself with the same issues early on. The way I fixed it is with my follow through. Some two handers follow through left with their release hand, and some follow through to the right. Try both and see what gets you more rotation
@EliAnckner
@EliAnckner 4 месяца назад
I agree with keeping your hand under the ball, but not so much with part where you said, "The ball should always, no matter what be touching your arm." When you rest your ball on your forearm, you want have as much control of the ball at release and you will be susceptible to negative tilt, which occurs when your hand does not go in a continuous motion in the direction you're trying to rotate the ball. Negative tilt will lead to worse pin carry. Otherwise good video!!

I have heard others say Planting is wrong and you should slide. I also think sliding generates more power.
@DaZeD420
@DaZeD420 8 месяцев назад
Planting is wrong. It increases chance for knee injury and sliding gives you more power as well as balance
@SirJoelsuf1
@SirJoelsuf1 8 месяцев назад
Different bowlers are "wired" to plant or slide. For me, sliding hurts my knee because if I slide I'll slide too far. No bowler should ever slide more than maybe 3 inches. When I was sliding I was sliding at least eight. Not good. Planting feels much more natural to me and WAY less pressure on my knee. But I have short legs anyways so there's not much pressure anyways. But when I was sliding I was hyperextending the knee joint.

@Bowling_Bros
@Bowling_Bros 10 месяцев назад
I always say to follow through as high and forward as you can to catch the ball at the bottom (getting more revs), and to keep consistency
@YUNO-_-DIE
@YUNO-_-DIE 5 месяцев назад
Love the video always looking for different things to try got to try the thumb placement thing I never even thought about it aha Main reason I'm writing a paragraph is that I believe highly that planting results in an early Achilles heel injury just waiting to happen and also does not produce more power it completely makes you use more arm rather then your speed and also makes you less accurate, prone to pushing or pulling the ball off your line. You also lose A LOT of your approach momentum because you stop on a dime which makes you not be able to full speed run up if you chose to do so. I used to plant step and only could throw up to 13-14 mph with 15lbs. With a proper slide I use like 10x less energy all together, I even walk up half as fast as I did before and I swing my arms way more controlled and relaxed compared to when I used to plant step. I immediately started to average 17-18mph the day I started sliding with my new shoes (3g racers). I can throw up to 19mph with a moderate approach accurately without even putting my all into it. My spare shots are on average 17-18mph and my strike shots I can control to the T with different approaches. I have a style of approach to get 13-14 mph another for 15-16 mph and for my spares I just run up a little bit faster but its barely noticeable. Each approach I use the exact same arm swing the only thing I change is my approach. I also have a super calm belmo side step slow mo walk up to fuck around shooting like 8-13 mph, sometimes I do it if the lanes are super oily but I typically use it to screw around hooking the entire lane from my neighbors ball return xD
@YUNO-_-DIE
@YUNO-_-DIE 5 месяцев назад
also you want to open your hips as much as possible during your approach by doing either a side step to start or perfecting your hop step, especially if you're older cause you're going to have hip problems over time if you don't walk up or throw properly. I personally do both separately or combine the two by side stepping on my first step the hopping on my 3rd then my power step + slide. Walking perfectly straight up to throw two handed also in my opinion doesn't always provide enough open hip action, if you bowl as often as I do you will eventually feel it in your hips 🥲
