Hi guys! This is a lyric video for the song "Still/The Neva Flows (Reprise)", sung by Christy Altomare as Anya, Ramin Karimloo as Gleb, and the ensemble, from the (moderately) new Broadway musical "Anastasia".
I hope you enjoy it and I will uploading the very last song on the cast recording as soon as possible!
I love you and hope you have a supersparklytastic day!!!! :D
Also, the content belongs to Broadway Records, the picture is from • FIRST LOOK: Anastasia ... , and this video was made using Windows Movie Maker.

Wait, wait, wait, time out everybody... Are you telling me he held that last Anya note while the family voices sang their bit 0- and then proceeded to sing with them "and soon it will be spring' in one unbreaking breath? Hot damn. I bow to you, sir.

Sure sounds like it. But then, this is Ramin.

Well he took a breath before saying "Anya" but there is the real possibility it is spliced. Cast recordings often splive together multiple takes of songs to get the best bits from each one, and so it's possible they let him take a huge breath beforehand. It is possible that he's just that good, but given that he DID take a breath on the slime tutorial, I'm not fully convinced it's not spliced.

Wished they kept in the line where Anya reveals her full title. That was the most awesome part of the song!

@@AriannaGi No, it definitely happens during the song. After Gleb sings "the Tsar lies cold" he says to Anya "For the last time, who are you?" and she replies with "I am the Grand duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov." and then Gleb comes back in with "Be careful what a dream may bring..." and everything after which is still in the recording.

Personally, while I definitely ship Dimitri/Anya first since 1997, I can see the appeal of Gleb/Anya because, you have to admit, it'd be even more romantically impossible and star-crossed!

Gleb: If you really are Anastasia, do you think history wants you to have lived? Anastasia: Yes! Well history actually DID want her to live. All these “what if she had lived” movies about her, people willing to believe imposters pretending to be her, even though it was obvious they weren’t her, because they wanted so badly to believe she had lived. As one documentary about the family put it “you’d have to be non-human to not want to believe this beautiful mischievous princess lived.”

Gleb's hatred is understandable. Nikolai II and Alexandra Feodorovna had committed many crimes against the Russian people (father and mother of Anya). But their children are not to blame. That caused his inner struggle.
@chelseabaker1994
@chelseabaker1994 2 года назад
@@khothuocsung1565 the problem with Nikolai and Alexandra was they were unprepared for their role as Czar and Czarina and sadly their judgment was clouded by their worries about Alexei. As one documentary put it “they were so divorced from reality” it’s more complicated than that but it’s true Nicky and Alix were simply the wrong rulers at the wrong time. But from what I’ve learned about the history of the Russian empire and what led to the revolution, even if they had been better rulers the revolution was gonna happen one way or another.

2:07 Until that spine-tingling chord, I didn't know how much I needed to hear Ramin sing the part of Moses in "Prince of Egypt." It's so reminiscent of the chord at the end of the "The Plagues." Also, Moses is another emotionally complex character, and we know Ramin loves those ones :P (But we love it, too, because he plays them so well!) *edit:* Have Hadley Fraser sing the part of Ramses, and it will be perfect!

1:11 Gleb: Look at my face Anya, and see the other people of Russia. See your people, see the people your father was supposed to rule.The hundreds no one remembers and no one cared for. Hear their cries, see their tears, see them as they work day in and out, see them as they starve, see them as they freeze, see them suffer because your family refused to change! Families with the same love for each other that yours had for each other suffer everyday, but only when it's a family like yours does the world take notice. What gave them the right to tragedy when the lives of others are just seen as the way of the normal world? How can you compare your suffering to the suffering of thousands of other people? Anya: We're all people. We all feel pain. How many of us deserve pain?

Wow! that is one speech there for Gleb and Anya to talk of people between rich/Royal and poor non-Royal but we are all human beings all of God's children he loves us all but i guess it didn't work out with the Russian monarch and the Russian citizens sadly. 😞😟😢

Indeed. Gleb's perspective should be included in the songs so the audience can understand his conviction and torment. Love this character. Ramin was superb in breathing life into Gleb. Given the limited stage time, he was able to convey the dimensions of humour, compassion, idealism, conflict between patriotism and love interest...etc. Bravo!

Riiiight... Because we all know what humanitarians the Bolsheviks were, and how well the ordinary people did under communism. "New name same empty stomaches. They tell us times are better, well I say they're not. Can't cook an empty promise in an empty pot. A new day is dawning, it's almost at hand. The skies are grey, the walls have ears, and he who argues disappears. Hail our brave new land!"

" Saint Petersburg is booming, a city on the rise. It's really very friendly if you don't mind spies. We stand behind our leaders and stand in line for bread. We're good and loyal comrades and our favourite colour's red. Now everyone is "equal", professors push the brooms. Two dozen total strangers sleep in two small rooms. you hold a revolution and here's the price you pay. Thank goodness for the gossip that get's us through the day."

Tbf the revolution was coming regardless of what the Romanovs did, kind of like Louis the 16th and the French revolution. They inherited countries that were waking up to the sound of the drums of revolution, not much they could do to avoid it from happening although they totally did contribute to it at least a little.

From what I understand, certain seasons are given specific significance in this play. - Summer in the golden reign of the Romanovs (from the perspectives of the royals, the Dowager, etc.) - Fall is mentioned in relation to the October Revolution and eventually the assassination of the Romanovs by the Bolsheviks. - Winter is the current season that the Russian people are under as the new communist regime begins with a terrible start and doubts begin to come in. - Spring is the promise of a new, brighter future by the Bolshevik leaders through their propaganda as best seen in the Neva Flows.

@@fatemehrahmani2638 Anya (Anastasia) is the lost Grand Duchess who secretly survived when the rest of her family was killed by the Bolsheviks. The father of Gleb (the guy here) was involved in the murder of the family so Gleb doesn't believe that Anastasia could have survived; he's now a Bolshevik officer as well and tries to suppress rumors of her. When he first meets her, he thinks she's a normal girl and starts to like her, but when he finds out she is Anastasia he thinks she should be killed, so he's conflicted. I hope that makes sense. 😂 ~:~
