Learn how to share your Ancestry.com tree the safe way. In this video I talk about the various permission levels when sharing your family history tree.
There are three levels of permissions that you should be aware of when sharing your tree with someone. Sharing your tree with someone as a Guest, Contributor, or an Editor has different levels of permissions that you should understand before sharing your tree. Having said that, I do believe there is an advantage to, sharing your tree and it’s advisable so that all your hard work is available for future generations.

How do you pass your tree to family without them paying for Ancestry membership? I paid for one year membership but there after will the 24000 ancestors I found disappear for grandchildren and beyond. Made printed 5 generation charts for all, but a 10+ chart would be unwieldy +all the documents .

Hello someone sharing family tree with me now what I want add all them tree into my account, that if they stop sharing with if any time but I’ll still can see family tree , how to do It’s so hard and would take long for me if I tape

My family added me as a collaborator, but I can't edit or add anything. Do I need to be a paying member to be able to do this?

They need to make you an editor or an admin. However, if you are not paying for the account, you won't be able to access some of the records, only the tree.

This has changed now - it doesn't say "share" it says "invite" and then has a link you can copy but how do you send the link ? Thats what I cannot figure out - do you just copy and paste it ? TY :)

To share a tree go to tree settings, pick the tree to share (if you have more than one), at the top go to Invitations, + Invite people (upper right), select the role, create a link, and email it to them.

I've just tried sharing my tree; unfortunately, the person who received the link as a guest was prompted to sign up to see the tree. Is there a way around this so that people receiving the link can see the tree without having to sign up?

Yes they can sign up for a free guest account, but they won't be able to access all the records (some yes, others no) and they can see your tree. You will likely need to send them a link again. support.ancestry.com/s/article/Free-Registered-Guest-Accounts?language=en_US

Ancestry seems to be updated and doesn't show the SHARE button any longer. How do you do this now ?

They change the name from share to Invite. It is still in the upper right corner.

How do I send my ancestry information via the tree to a non-subscriber like my sisters without having them put any kind of a gedcom thing on their device which they don't want to do

From the tree view click invite.

When I send the invite out it goes to show me that does not have an ancestry and it wants them to sign in
