With gale force winds, our anchor dragged and now we're stranded on a lee shore just 100 feet away. This changed everything. Now we have to examine the keel and rudder.

It’s quite possible for an oversized anchor to be less effective. Anchor maker recommendations are optimal. Good heavy chain is where its at. that, and a drag alarm. good luck, hope no damage

A Cadence crew question -- Which meal would you choose to eat out. There is just something about those breakfast cafes. I rarely get to go out for breakfast but the smells and hussle of a breakfast place leave memories that persist.

Good question. I guess it's more of a timing thing, when we are tired and don't want to cook/clean. But yes, if you're ever in Texas, go to a taqueria for breakfast 🥞 with tacos. It'll change your world.

We don’t put anything less than 120 out in less than 10 feet of water. We have learnt the hard way. You got to take into account what you’re anchored in as well. It will be steel and lead on the inside it won’t bend unless it’s super thin.

if your boat has only one keel and not a cat it is so easy to use your tender and the main halyard to heal the boat over while you use the sailboats engine to power off I have done it with my 13 ft and 9 ft boston whaler just hold the line in your hand and do not tie it to the tender

They have a wing keel. Heeling the boat over just makes the keel act like a shovel and digs in more.

I've been involved in rescues where the halyards are used to pull the boat sideways with the dinghy. Then the engine can power the boat out.

can be done, but rigs aren’t designed for that kind of point load from that direction, so there’s risk

Dang, I hate to see you hit hard like that again; yea there may be things you could have done BUT once it happens there is no point in getting upset etc as it is already done and it really doesn't matter the how/why, just accept it for what it is and stay calm and be safe.. later you can reflect what you may have been able to do to prevent it.

Do you normally have that much water around the keel bolts? How much higher till the bilge pumps kicks in?

Yes, there's about a half inch. From the AC at a marina or in the winter, condensation. It's fresh water.

I’m wandering how did you make a deal with boatus ! Cause I had same situation and they made me sign salvage towing contract and made me to pay them 9000$ for that towing job

@@TheFosterJourney boatus semt this towboatus third party company and ı was super worried for my wife and my dog and for sure my boat instead waiting for the high tide that boat captain affected me with my amateur knowledge and I signed ! I have gold membership. I called headquarters of boatus they said “ you and them we don’t care “ I still have it but I hate them !! Like health insurance or hospitals !!
