AND JUST LIKE THAT EPISODE 8 RECAP: The Big vs Aidan debate continues.... 

Oh, my jaw dropped! 😲 It was a very Carrie thing to say, almost like she was doing the OG voice-over on SATC with the puns, but c'mon... So you really think your 15+ yr marriage was a mistake? Nah... We all know and saw how happy you were with Big. All those amazing orgasms are fogging her brain. 🤦🏻‍♀️😁

But did we really see how happy they were together?? There is no doubt they share intense chemistry and that Carrie was head over heels for Big. But during 6 seasons Big never was in love with Carrie. He left her and marry an other woman ( that’s not love) . He left NY to live in Nappa without event telling her ( that’s not love) . After she broke up with Aiden and he divorce Natasha, he only wanted her for friends with benefits. Sure, he had affection and fun with her but he never took care of her, never hang out with her friends etc. In the first movie , after 10 years together he coldly jilted her ( that’s not love) just because the wedding was too big?? What about giving her her ridiculous big fairytale wedding after every thing he put her through? Putting her first for once… that would be selfless and loving, caring for her. After all it would be just one day! She said they were happy for 12 years but we Never saw it. Never. In ajlt he couldn’t come to lili’s recital, why not? It’s Carrie’s best friend’s daughter. All the other husbands were there but he couldn’t botter compromise to make Carrie happy and hang out with the people she care the most in the world. I feel that the relationship with Carrie always lacked true friendship. I’m sure they had great moments but a man who give his ex wife a million dollar without explaining his current wife the reason ( an ex wife he married over Carrie so a big trauma for her) and not having the care and decency to have a conversation about it is a very selfish gesture. It’s cold and distant… So, I’m sorry to say it but I think that relationship worked as long as Carried shrink her self and do things on his terms… Love is not in words. It’s in actions and Big didn’t deliver. 5 mn in ajlt before his death is not enough. I don’t thin Aiden is the right guy for her. She’s on the rebound from Big’s death and it’s comforting. But I understand that for her to question her relationship with Big came out of nowhere. The writers should have given us context like if she admitted that Big had Been unfaithful during her mariage or something, so I get that people are shocked buy her statement…

@@cannellecinnamon5504 Those are all great points. Specially about how badly Big treated Carrie in the past. I guess the "happiness" I was referring to was those moments in season 1 while dancing and cooking in the kitchen. I know it felt quick but they both seemed content and settled in married life. Or after they got married at the courthouse and Big surprised her with all her friends showing up for brunch. They looked happy even then. So for her to say he was a mistake, I still don't buy it. Btw, I believe the money he left for Natasha was simply his guilty conscious. Maybe he thought Carrie would never find it out from the lawyer? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nice to have your input, I love your recaps! I agree that it’s totally not a Carrie’s normal reaction to question her relationship with Big because she was crazy about him. She felt that he was the maximum she could get. She even felt that he was superior to her ( upper class, old money, member of the higher circles etc). Aiden had no chance compared to Big ( in Carrie’s eyes) because he was too much like her ( apart from the country style) , meaning: middle class, regular guy. She wanted more of a luxurious, urban life that only Big could provide. Plus she had great chemistry with him. Now speaking of her “happiness” with Big, everyone can have moments of happiness with people who mistreat them but how is that couple reacting to troubles or different opinions? Well, Big’s response is to throw Carrie away ( first movie) . No amount of dancing in the kitchen would make me feel safe after 6 years of rejection followed by publicly being jilted. And yes they where happy in ajlt but for two days? Again even the most dysfunctional couples can have that. I’m sure Big had happy moments in is first two marriages. The thing is, all their so called happiness happened off screen so we have to imagine them. And the million dollar to an ex wife, he knew Carrie would be there when they read the testament , he knew she would be tormented, hurt and confused but he did it anyway. A loving partner would never act in such a careless way. Now, Carrie, and all of us have to make up in our head a good reason why he dit it… I think a love letter to Carrie would have been a nicer gesture ❤ Anyway, I’ll stop now!
