There is nothing like spending a night on a cozy small boat. I may be getting too old to enjoy my beautiful sailboat (and the work!) quite as much as I used to and a Ranger 21 may be in my future. Thank you for sharing this great video!

Indeed, so true, thank you very much. One of the nice features of the R21EC is the relatively shallow draft, only two feet. I do not know how big your sailboat is, but you should be able to visit the same shallow places on your new boat, should you decide to actually buy the small Ranger. Either way, enjoy your time on the water.

Thank you, Robb, it is pleasure hearing from you. I was contemplating to participate in the Everglades Challenge next year, but perhaps I should follow your suggestion and cruise on one of the rivers instead? Meanwhile, I am not sure if you have seen my St. John’s River series of videos - if not, the playlist is at ru-vid.com/group/PLNDjiTZjirh9zEeHmhVe5l0XeYwGoq3Hw Enjoy the day!

Nice. I've never seen a cushion mounted on a bulkhead before, like the one mounted behind your galley area. Any idea why it was put there? Put there by Ranger? Does it serve a purpose for you?
@rockingbaby2013
@rockingbaby2013 10 месяцев назад
Thank you and thank you for the question. That vertical cushion serves as the back rest when the stove and the sink are covered by another portable cushion - together, they form the second seat in the cabin, for the co-pilot. You see the top of the additional cushion briefly at 4:53 when I turn the stereo on and start listening to the music. I hope this helps and I thank you again for watching and commenting. See you on the water one day!

Thank you so much, I appreciate the comment. What is your current boat? Often, we do not realize the virtues of what we already have. Perhaps you could adapt your current boat for your intended use? Good luck and please keep me updated. Happy Sunday. Good luck and please let me know how th

Greetings, My current boat is.. I don't have one. Ha Ha! I do regularly borrow my fathers outboard powered 14 foot Aluminium dinghy for some estuary fishing and setting crab traps. While I enjoy that. I would like to be able to venture out for overnight, or 2 night trips to some of the nearby costal islands (5NM or so, sheltered waters) to snorkel around the tropical coral reefs there.
@rockingbaby2013
@rockingbaby2013 Год назад
@@alien_marksman That sounds to me like almost the ideal scenario: you can use the boat without the ordeals of maintenance, upkeep, storage, etc., hahaha. Would your father allow you to add some shelter, perhaps, like a Bimini, to which the sides could be added for even more protection? This is what I did on my 17’ sailboat adapted for powerboating. If you have not seen it yet, please take a look at my playlist tilted “Tortuga.” You appear to live around fabulous places already, congratulations, have fun, and send or post a video or two, if you may, those places are truly exotic to so many who can only dream about visiting them. Looking forward!

He's also got a 21 foot pontoon boat, with centre console and bimini. But I'm not allowed to take that without him too, Hahah. It's unfortunate that our work schedules mean we don't always get the same days off... Even more so when the weather wants to cooperate. Still, I will follow your adventures, and continue to maintain the goal of a Tug Life of my own.

@@alien_marksman Thank you. I am sure you will find a solution. And, I am sure you will manifest your dream boat one way or the other. Funny thing: some time ago, I built a simple model boat that I thought would be ideal/practical for me. I put the model aside and only after I got the Ranger I realized that the model was, in general shapes/proportions, very much like the Ranger, hahaha. But, I can almost assure you, your ideal boat today will be just a phase in your life, there will be others after that, and that is perhaps the other beauty of how our lives change, evolve, and adapt. Start with something small, your own, play and enjoy, until something changes. My first boat was only 7’9” sailing rowing dingy, and I took her on the 300 miles Everglades Challenge back in 2013, than sailed/rowed her another 350 miles or so back, around the entire Florida peninsula. To me, despite her minuscule size, she felt like a normal, full-size boat. There are two on-line articles on the Internet about my adventures on that small boat, please let me know if you would like to read and I will find them for you. Meanwhile, it is getting really late for me, so I will say bye for now and wish you a very good afternoon.

Great to hear from you! Will be happy to chat, please contact me, KG4MIA on gmail. I keep the boat in Gateway Marina, please stop by one day. Actually, heading there later today. You will have no problems running up river with your boat, the current is around one knot. Thank you for watching and hope to chat with you soon. Enjoy the day

what's the fuel consumption? how many nautical miles for a tank?
@rockingbaby2013
@rockingbaby2013 Год назад
Hello John, thank you for your questions. The fuel consumption varies greatly with the load/RPM. Running at full throttle, the engine will consume nearly two gallons of diesel per hour. Given the full tank of 18 gallons, this would give you nine hours of run time. Assuming the speed of five knots, say, up-river or into the tide (or both), the range will only be 45 miles or so. This range is too low to venture on this boat up-Suwannee, where there are no marinas and no diesel is available. On the low end, low RPMs, fuel consumption is on the order of 0.5 gallons per hour. So, if you can go slow, your range will be greater, and it will take longer, of course. Are you planning a trip somewhere?
@JohnBraman413

@@rockingbaby2013 was just curious how that does with fuel.
