Great Video, loved it. I have the 2014 model with the VP D1-30 engine. I just love this little boat and use it all year long, mostly for fishing. Just turned the 2800hr mark.

At the moment, she needs some work, including the bent prop, the shattering/disintegrating belts, the zincs, the charger, the battery wiring, and more. Do you know your prop’s pitch and diameter? Some users reports speeds of 9 knots, mine does not go that fast, so I wonder. Also, what is your motor’s suffix, if you know? Apparently, depending on the suffix, the belts are different.
@@rockingbaby2013 Hey! Boats are always a work in progress! Im not sure about the prop. I know I max out around 9 knots but I have the Volvo Penta d1-30 motor. keep the faith - the tug is worth the effort and looks like you are having fun!

Awesome, I love seeing new R-21 EC content on RU-vid. It appears that Kolo Iki has factory air conditioning. If so, do you use it and at what outside temperature does it cease to be effective? Thanks and happy cruising!
Glad you discovered our Ranger! She is new to me and I do not known whether the AC was factory installed or added later. I have not been able to make AC work yet - when I turn it on, I can hear something running but there is no water exiting the hull and the sounds stop after 15 seconds or so, with some cryptic error code on the display. Do you know how to make this unit running? It might be that the unit needs priming with cooling water, but I am not sure how to do it yet. If you do, please share and have a great day!

Hello and thank you for the questions. Yes, the boat is equipped with a Yanmar 3YM30X1 engine. The propeller I currently have installed is an ACME four-blade 13x12.125. However, this may not be the original propeller, as I do not seem to be able to achieve the speeds reported by other Ranger users, and the engine is easily reaching RPM levels that are above the typically reported values. So, perhaps increasing the pitch of the propeller a bit might be appropriate - should you do it, please let me know. Enjoy your build and see you on the water one day. Hi ….Will here again. Got a technician question I hope you can answer for me …as I’m sure you recall I’m building a poor man’s version of a Ranger tug . I’m installing a 3 cylinder Yanmar . I noticed that the angle of your prop shaft is 15 degrees or so ..does the the reduction gear flange connect directly to the prop shaft flange ? ( my shaft angle is about the same) I understand the angle should not exceed 7 degrees for fear of starving the “uphill “ side of the engine of lubricant oil ? But if yours is connected directly I won’t worry about it and connect mine directly . Obviously the engineers at “ranger “ know a lot more than I do .. thanks for your help . I’m enjoying your utube adventures .
Hello Will, thank you for the information and the question. I am not sure about the shaft angle, but it looks like the engine is positioned at around seven degrees or so, depending on how you trim the boat. Installing a universal joint should solve your issues - have fun and see you on the water one day!
Thanks…I thought of a universal or CV joint but that would require a fixed intermediate fixed bearing or the shaft would play merry hell on the stuffing box. I think what I’m going to do is create a tunnel and push the stuffing box and cutles bearing bearing up at a corresponding angle to the engine when it is in place at perhaps a 7degree angle. Quit abit of fiber glass work…better that than burning up the engine . Thanks for your thoughts .
