I sang this arrangement in my high school acapella choir, and hearing this arrangement brings tears to my eyes. It's beautiful and you sing it beautifully.
I was dropped out of choir. Neither me or the director wanted that, we both cried that day :( Thankfully, the director still allowed me to perform with them. However, I was going to have to learn the songs myself. I did actually have a friend who helped me the first time (back then we had musical together so we had time to practice; now we don’t ). I do have a couple days where I can get out of my classes to rehearse but for now it’s just me. That’s why I’m here trying to get a sense of parts. IM AN ALTO BTW, and yes I can’t screw in the light bulb.
Me and the rest of the seniors in my school’s show choir are singing this arrangement at our graduation ceremony this weekend. It’s bittersweet, but it truly encapsulates all the emotions that come with leaving behind the family we worked so hard to create. Thank you Bob Chilcott for this beautiful piece of music :)
Have listened to all the choral versions and think this is the best. Had the privilege of attendimg a workshop with Bob Chillcott, such a kind and warm and wonderful person.
Bob Chilcott strikes again. What a fantastic arrangement! His Shepherds Carol is one of my all-time favourites. He's come a long way since he recorded Pie Jesu from the Faure Requiem as a boy chorister with King's College Choir, Cambridge. I think this recording of Billy's piece does it justice. Congratulations to all involved.
