When you see the ending and realize the red beam that ended everyones life in reality was the red line when you flat line

Somehow, everybody is missing what's coming when the queen gives the rules. Players win by simply playing three complete rounds. The queen wins if you give up. This automatically lets you know that the queen is going to play some sort of mind games to try to convince you to give up so that she can win. There's another way players can lose. Since weapons are allowed if you kill the queen, players won't have anyone to play against. They will be stuck in limbo forever. The same way in the prison game if everybody always told the truth the game would never end. It would be life in prison as Chishiya said in that game.

Borderland - Land between life and death. They should've died from the meteorite, but they were given a chance to live if they completed all 52 card games. That's why they came back, and the ones who died in the meteorite were the ones who died in the Borderlands because they failed the opportunity. For the joker card It is believed they will face the hardest challenge yet , life itself in the “real” world For me that was the perfect ending ❤️

Queen of Hearts carried this episode. She's such a good actress. 🤣

I love how in the games they slowly got the same injuries their bodies sustained. Even Usagi’s arm had a bandage. They all must have sustained cuts and internal injuries that the games reflected. Kinda like dreams incorporate real things happening around you.

At the beach, Aguni had two main guys. Niragi, who was bullied in his childhood until he became a bully himself, and the tattoed guy with the sword who never spoke. Kuina killed the tattoed guy when she fought him in the bar. Chishiya tried to burn Niragi in season 1, but he survived. Then Aguni in the end took Niragi with him into the fire. Both survived. Niragi lost an eye, because he did so in the real world disaster. Also I read somewhere that Niragi in the manga was a genius and direct rival to Chishiya. In fact Chishiya tried to burn him because he said Niragi reminded him of himself too much (both being smart). In the manga, Niragi came up with the plan to attack the base of the naked guy and his team, not Arisu.

52:10 The joker is the game master of borderlands, it represents the ferry man of the dead and it's the one taking everyone who chose not to stay in the borderlands back to the real world.

I interpreted the joker as they are now playing the hardest game of all. The game of life. The joker represents a wild card and can become any card in the deck. Insinuating that through out your travels in life you could experience any of the suit cards. Or I could be wrong and its just a spoiler for season 3. But I would be fine with the series if it ended right here as well.

As the queen said: "Life is a game we play together" I think that is what the Joker at the end represents; they still have a game to play: life itself.

It's fitting that Queen of Hearts game was won through true love. The bond Arisu and Usagi had was enough to change Mira's heart, allowing her to accept defeat gracefully in the appreciation that trust is the only thing that can undo a betrayal game. And to top it off, the moral of her entire game is literally "it doesn't matter if you win or lose, you just have to play."

Best ending ever. So deep. The hardest game is real life! The only thing I don't understand is why some people were picked to be dealers and other were normal players.

i read somewhere that they showed the joker card because in the manga it represents someone who carries the soul across the rivers which separates the worlds of living and death (borderland)

The anime "Death Parade" has a similar story - games played after death. I won't say more, but it's got a good emotional story behind it too, criminally underlooked!

This game was specifically designed for Arisu....the Queen of Hearts arena WASNT OPEN FOR PLAY until all the other games were completed.... thats why after the King of Spades died, it unlocked the Queen of Hearts game.

I kinda like this 'ending.' You could look at it as the Joker being life itself, despite what they all went through and the fact they chose to live, they still need to find their way through life, a fitting game for the wild card. Or, it could also be an open ending for a third season, which would go beyond even the source material. I'd be slightly afraid of this, it usually doesn't turn out well but you never know. I'm satisfied with this ending.

If you looking for Japanese series like this, “Liar Game” is pretty good.

I think they were all fighting to survive from the meteorit in the land between life and death, those who lost the games meant they lost the battle of surviving from the meteorit and the hole games were just in Arisu's perception because the games were his world. And the joker card it probably means now their biggest game is their life. This series is awsome, I love it ❤️

It can be interpreted that other players may have met each other in this Borderland by chance. They get to know each other here, in Borderland, but haven't met in real life. So they actually don't know each other, hence the familiar feeling that they have known each other before, but reality, they're just strangers.

At first I thought the ending was lackluster but the more they explained it I was happy with it

The Joker in the manga was the entity that carried souls back and forth between the Borderlands and real life. So in the end of the show, the Joker was just symbolizing the fact that the Borderlands still exists, waiting for new people, new immigrants to play the games. Because there are always going to be accidents, diseases,etc. So those who experience near-death will travel to Borderland to see if they'll survive in the real world or not. This is the end of the show, no more seasons. This was the end of the manga. Don't read too much into the Joker card, as I have explained the meaning of it above.

not about games but if you want a show that really messed with your brain: the german show DARK on Netflix. it's 3 seasons (26 eps in total) and was also planned as 3 seasons. imo quality wise one of if not THE best series Netflix has to offer and overal one of the most well written/complex shows of the last 10 years. it's a bit slow paced but really rewarding

The Joker card, in the manga, is a character who actually appears in the story. He’s a ferryman between the world of the living and the afterlife, who brings Arisu back to the real world at the end. So them showing the joker card could mean that the ferryman did his job and brought back all the survivors to the real world or it could also mean it's gonna be another game cos the manga has a sequel so we could get a season 3

I think borderland is a real but supernatural place, all people who have their heart stopped for some reason go there and not just in one single moment but all of them no matter when or where they died not just people who died/survived meteor. Queen of spades that found was found in completely other scenario proves that. Also we can see that games didnt start when protagonists entered the world, they existed long time before that.

They were fighting for their lives in Borderland while literally fighting for their lives in the real world. The Queen of Hearts was the perfect final boss because she really tested his will to live. Excellent!

Its the perfect ending imo... anything else would have been lame. The whole time it was a opportunity to survive a near death experience.

I think Suzy will like First Love on Netflix. It's also a japanese series.

It is quite confusing at the end when the producers decided to show The Joker on the table. From what I heard, there will be a return of the show, but I have no clue in what way as the manga ends in Volume 9 which was just released in March. I believe this is the end of the original series and the return will be a spin off of some sort that will explore The Joker more. In the manga, The Joker appears before Arisu and Usagi before they are transported back to the real world. Arisu has a conversation with The Joker and asks him what his purpose is to which The Joker answers with a question if he appears as a God or the Devil. Arisu concludes that The Joker is a intermediator who transports those on the brink of death back to the real world if they happen to survive and pass on those who pass away. There is not much else known about The Joker but he/she is the person behind the Borderlands world.

The original manga ends here so no 3rd season but.....the author did a second part Alice in Borderland: Retry. I think that the finale was perfect so Netflix just don´t do something stupid....

In terms of recommendations of other shows. There is one show on Netflix which is another Korean drama called "All Of Us Are Dead" and while it's not completely the same as something like Alice In Borderland or Squid Game. I would say that it's just as great, and hits a lot of the same emotional highs and lows as something like AIB did. Just thought I'd throw my two pennies in. I've really enjoyed these reactions!

I Love it! The interpretation is so good. I didn't know what to expect in the last episode. My mind suffered because of the Queen of Hearts but I couldn't wish any other ending. I haven't read the manga but I bet the show did a fantastic job.

You guys should check out ctrl z. Its really good and the second season is on the level of this. Its on netflix and will leave u on the edge of your seat to figure out whats going on or who did it

If they get shoot/beaten by the owner of face cards/other player, As long as they have a will to survive and alive, they’ll stay alive. Thats why arisu and his friends alive in the end. Cuz they all have that will The origin of the story is based from japan’s legends. The River berween life and after life. The joker at the end were potrayed for the keeper of that river. He will test anybody that in stage between death/life like in coma etc. If the person have the will to alive they’ll send back to the world. If not they’ll send to afterlife

They don't literally know each other. The games just represents how their will to survive. Anything that happen in borderland is something unique that happen to each of them.
