Watched this after eddies debut on dynamite, not knowing who he was beforehand, now he is my favourite wrestler hands down

I think he’s rated pretty accurately… he’s great on the mic, but absolutely sucks in the ring. If he lost weight, got in shape, learned how to wrestle, could develop more than a 12” vertical on his enzuigiri, he could actually be a mediocre worker and that mic work would elevate him to the stars. As it stands, the mic work is the only reason he has a job.

He doesn't get respect because he contradicts his emotion one minute he says his passionate about being a wrestler another minute he doesn't care what anybody thinks his everywhere and it's hard to get with him or to hate him because his telling you one story but then his telling you another its confusing what to think of him

Coming back to this to see him having success in AEW, NJPW, and ROH revamp has been wonderful and a whole new group of fans are able to see him.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t be a heel nowadays. He’ll just be a heel that people cheer.

I had the same feeling a year ago. Good thing is we have a shit ton of good shit to catch up on.

You know how everyone thought Chris Hero could be a legend, and he was great in the ring, but he let himself become a fat f*ck, and squandered his shot? Remember how Rock and Austin were great on the stick, had charisma, and were good storytellers with great visual appeal even though they had mediocre repertoires? Remember how people thought the Sandman had incredible charisma, even though he sucked in the ring and never had “the look?” People would compare him to Austin, even though all they really had in common was drinking beer and being “relatable” as Everyman characters. Eddie is an fat, unathletic f*ck with a near non-existent move set who looks like he belongs in the crowd watching a wrestling show, not competing in it. But, he’s got the mic skills and charisma. He’s much closer to Sandman on that spectrum, and the best he could have hoped for in the big leagues ten years ago is a manager’s gig or teaching a promo class as a road agent. Now he’s found his spot in AEW, and they are working wonders with him. That never would have worked before now. There was just no place in mainstream wrestling back in 2011 for a guy who looked like a dude begging for cigarettes outside a Cumby’s, telling you he was a tough guy.
