nice video Colt...as always!! I bought a flush mount kit off ebay and mounted my 175amp plug to the right of my license plate on my 2018 F250, was a little more work to install it but it made it easier to access to plug my winch into that I mounted on the front of my trailer to pull derby cars up on, I never thought of pluggin an inverter into it and using it to run tools lol excellent idea

Another great video done Colts way. I agree with a previous post, shoot a little Rust-Oleum paint on that grind, and maybe fill that Anderson plug with dilectric (sp?) grease. I personally like the mini jumper cables! My F350 is a 7.3 gasser, but it has dual batteries, so I'm thinking this is my next project. Keep bringing us more ways to spend money! 😄

Sweet concept. I have the same truck. I’m wanting to do the same but mount the inverter semi permanently in the bed under the camper. I have a 12 volt fridge and jackery I want to keep charged driving.

Awesome install. I wasn't aware of the Anderson plugs or a source for them. Unfortunately, the Amazon link is currently showing the plugs unavailable with no estimate of when they will be available again. I'll be transferring a 1500 Watt inverter from a Safari to a Navigator which doesn't have an ideal spot for installation, so now I'll just make the inverter portable. The rear plug allows the flexibility to run anything else that needs a solid 12VDC connection. A booster cable fitted with an Anderson plug would even allow you to boost your truck battery from the rear of the vehicle if it was inconvenient to reach the engine bay.

We just went to use our 110 outlet in our 2022 F350, to charge the battery in our camper come to find out it doesn't work, The inverter on the truck Faulted out, now i'm not sure why it did, (camper has a inverter on it) we used a 50 amp plug down to a 110. I was under the impression it would work. Glad I found your video think I will look at adding this set up

Yea it’s weird. If you have the rapid charger for Milwaukee batteries it won’t charge them. But if you have a regular charger it will. Very underpowered. How did the install go brother? 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

I think this is my first time seeing you, i liked the video! I will check out more of your videos. I am no expert, but i believe DC is prone to voltage drop, AC is not, so the inverter is best closest to the battery, and use a good AC extension cord (probably 12 gauge) to cover the greatest distance. A (kill-a-watt) tester could be a good trouble shooting device, but it looks like it all works pretty good to me. Just my 2 cents worth. I am off to watch some more of your videos, thanks!

It’s a 2000 watt inverter. It will pull almost 17 amps. 2000 divided by 120 is like 16.6 so almost 17. Check out this camping vid where I use a microwave to cook some popcorn! Hell yeah. We use these on our emergency vehicles for jumper cables. What you think about instead of doing the breaker switch wiring them to the upfitter switches?

Well the upfitters are only like 20-40 amps or something like that. I think the highest is 40. Like 5 and 6 are 40 amp and the others are 20 I think. Just not big enough. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

You could use a large 150 amp solenoid and use the upfitter switch to be the “trigger” to activate the solenoid and make it hot, and you could still use a circuit breaker or fuse and leave it in the on position. You should always use a circuit interruption device for safety.

Great Video. I’m going to use that set up. The instructions on my 1500 Watt inverter says DO NOT GROUND THE INVERTER DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY. So you got that right. ✅. Did you use a Anderson connecter to spice the cables to together ? I would like to see how you spliced it . Thanks

Thanks for watching brother. To splice it I just when to the hardware store and got some metal crimp/splices. I can’t remember the size I just made sure my wire fit inside and I was able to crimp them down on the wire. I just got a heavy hammer and beat it till it was almost flat and wasn’t gonna come loose. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Been researching this inverter chit for my 250 6.7, any issues with battery life using that inverter? Is it hard on your alternator? Have you tried to run a 6 gallon pancake compressor? Appreciate any answers you can offer and keep doin chit Colt’s Way!!!

Depends on how much load what you running is pulling. But I always run the truck and I have dual batteries. If it was just something quick it would be fine but anything being used for more then a couple minutes, truck needs to run. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

Switch 1 and 2 ARE protected by an 25 amp fuse. 3 is 10 amp fuse, 4 is 15 amp fuse. So rated loads are about 20 amp 1 and 2, 7 amp for 3 and 10amp for 4. they all controlld by a relay. Not sure it would provide enough to not trip over little shit but it might! Worth a try. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

all right Colt I had that set up when that shit wasn’t cool. One thing about it is you may find that when you put that winch under load on the back you’re going to trip that 150 amp breaker. I put a 500 amp fuse on mine like those boys that set up those high-end stereo systems it will make your ears bleed. That way if you got a hot leg that goes the ground it won’t burn your truck to the ground. If you want something that turns it off, I use a solenoid cut off like those Yankee boys use on their snow plows

Yea I have thought about the breaker tripping with it under load. I do have another bolt on type breaker in the glove box, it is 500 amps, but I would just have to unbolt the lugs and bolt them to the breaker. So you are 100% correct on that! I will prob change out that breaker under the hood as well so I don’t have to unbolt it, but I got this breaker off a wrecked bucket truck so it was free! And I did see that solenoid when I was researching, I was actually gonna go that route and hook it to a upfitter but I only have 1 upfitter left and I am saving it for air! @@COLTSWAY what you gonna do with the air? That's my next project. I've settled on an Oasis compressor with a 20 gal hotdog tank. I pull trailers for a living and I'm going to bypass me Airlift compressor and use a leveling valve to keep the bumper height at a constant level. I'm also gonna install an air chuck to the rear bumper for filling tires since the manufacturers leave them about 5 - 15 Lb short, which kills mileage. The compressor is strong enough to fill that 20 gal tank to 200 psi in just a few minutes, so I can also use air tools on the road. To top it off, I'm gonna strap a big ass air horn to the frame where the DPF used to be. Thoughts?

@@COLTSWAY I would like to do that too. I have some of the parts already...I salvaged a small air tank off of an old air compressor. I would like to make it so that it can run air bags one day when I get them. I just bought the factory gooseneck puck system with my Ford Pass rewards and $200. I'm getting ready to start looking for a small camper for the family and I think the air bags would come in handy. I'm going to get the ones that have the internal jounce stop (or whatever they are called) so I can run low pressure on the bags when not towing

Yes, I have since changed mine out to a 500. The winch wouldn’t work under load. It kept blowing the fuse. So I just padded them together untill I got a bigger 500 amp fuse. Thanks for watching. Hit that sub button if you haven’t, trying to grow the channel. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
