Idaho may not be the first place that comes to mind for trophy size Kokanee, but the Gem State harbors some hidden silver. Bob and Robin Shindelar have been enjoying the fishing in southern Idaho for many years and Anderson Ranch Reservoir has become one of their favorite Kokanee hotspots. The Shindelar’s invited Rich Harrod and Bob Loomis to join them to explore this rising fishery. The Kokanee are big, the country is grand, but the company is even better.

Great video! I live right their in Pine so it was pretty cool to see you guys fishing in my hometown. Always some good fishing on that lake!

What are those rods bobby uses? The ones that say Legacy on them?

Are there resorts or cabins on the lake or close by for lodging?

Jim Gilchrist there aren’t many options there but there is a small motel at Pine on the north end of the lake. Several places to camp around the lake but few lodges or motels.

@@HarrodOutdoors How is staying in Mt. Home and going out to the lake? Where did you folks stay? Isn't Curlew Creek Campground at the south end of the lake? We have been looking at some cabins up by Pine and wonder what the boat launches are like up there.

Jim Gilchrist Mt. Home is a ways away but I suppose doable if for only a couple days. Curlew Campground is more in the north end of the lake and that’s where we launched.

Jim Gilchrist Mtn Home is about 50 miles away so it depends if you want to make that trip. The hotel lodging in pine would be the best bet

Jason Moore I would use orange or pink Mack’s Lure Cha Cha Kokanee Squidders with 1.1 Smile Blades. Tip the hooks with shoepeg corn cure with Pro Cure Kokanee Killer Korn Magic and their Kokanee Special oil blend. Use around 10” leaders behind Mack’s Lure Double D Dodgers or Sling Blades. Another lure I like is the Double Whammy Kokanee Pro with red and chartreuse tapered beads. Good luck out there!

yes i have never understood using a left hand reel if you are right handed I do understand it if you are left handed you want your best hand to do things like net fish grab a knife pliers etc.. is indeed odd...
