My Great Grandfather was in this prison. I read the book Andersonville. It was one of the hardest reads of my life. The history of this place is hard. We have to learn from our history.

26 1/2 acres....but still crowded! Originally 16.5 acres in Feb. 1864, but enlarged in June to 26.5 acres. It was expanded Northward by 10 acres toward where the POW museum is now.
