Radrizzani said he had to decide on 'either dying with Bielsa or someone else' - did he make the right call? 👇

At the time I'd have much preferred to be relegated and keep Marcelo. At the time tbh I think marcelo was a huge symbol of the club...well more a sense of togetherness and unity and something to look forward to. He got us through the lockdown. But now...when the emotions are cooled...I'm glad we are in the prem.

@@bluecheese20401 Couldn't agree more mate. Once the rose tinted glasses fell at the end of the season, I couldn't be more relieved that we are still in this division. With that being said however, it is Marcelo who brought us here, and we will be forever grateful of that fact I'm sure.

@unstoppableExodia

Ultimately he made the right call. Bielsa’s downfall came down to a few factors in my estimation. First the injuries to key players combined with his extreme reluctance to add depth in the transfer window meant he was without crucial players needed to carry out his game plan. At the same time the novelty of his tactics had worn off and teams had found ways to neutralize them. Bielsa seemingly has one way of doing things. When it works, it works spectacularly but when it doesn’t he doesn’t seem to have a plan B

That was a beautiful interview. I think, without question, Marcello Bielsa is the kind of manager that anyone from any club, fan, supporter of football or owner and of course National Team aficionados would pay money, watch on TV or get excited about. The guy is a visionary a true legend of the game still.

@@heisenberg3131 regardless of tactics, he made each player see their potential. He made a Championship side competitive at the top level because he always saw potential, in everyone and in everything. He gave a city hope.

@@heisenberg3131 Fair point. His tactics were simple because it gave every player the opportunity to prove themselves and play for each other as a cohesive team. When it worked and everyone was at their best, it was beautiful football. Bielsa Ball. When we were dogged by injury with such a small team, his options were limited. I know what you're saying, and probably do agree with you in the sense of 'a certain level', but fundamentally he's inspired Pep and Pochettino to be two of the greatest managers in the modern game and has made so many players see their value and worth. The love and knowledge he brings to the game is so rarely seen and it's fair to say Radz was a brave man making this decision and we have to trust his instinct. It seems tight to suggest Bielsa is a one trick pony, when you see everything else he brings to game. (maybe that's all I needed to say, rather than this long reply!)

Comedy moments listening back to this. 4 mins in he said 'he felt for the fans' yet sacked Bielsa anyhow despite 85% support. Says the players couldn't achieve what Bielsa wanted them to. Hmm, that's because mentally they were EFL players cos you hadn't given him a new midfield since Bielsa arrived at the club, despite him leading the club to a 9th place finish. Rodrigo could not play in mf, Phillips was injured, Dallas was a converted winger, Forshaw's career was over and Klich had lost the legs . . . what were your expectations Radz? Miracles. This interview really sums up how out of touch you were with the situation.

To fullfill their potential individually and as a team, young players need a coach who teaches and guides them, inspires them and motivates them constructively. Coaches like Bielsa (disciplinarian non-communicators) cannot understand how important it is to address the emotions of young men of the 21st century. A modern coach needs to build confidence and create a healthy atmosphere in order for players to believe in themselves and one another in order to make a maximum effort to WIN. Of course talent is very important, but teams of slightly lesser talent who believe they can win are much more likely to win against teams slightly more talented. I don't believe the teams that easily defeated Leeds last season will find it so easy this season. I believe the future for Leeds is a bright one.

It's madness how people can even question should radz have sacked bielsa? Of course he should have and in fact he should have done it a month earlier.bielsa is more of a coach than a manager,he's also a 3 year coach at tops.his style depends on 100% intensity with a very small squad but once the intensity drops there is cracks all over bielsa style .you cannot keep conceding 3 goals and expect go score 4.....without a striker!! He was just too stubborn and refused to change.jesse marsch conceded only half the goals in same amount of games and got 1.25 points a game compared to bielsas 0.88 and that's with bielsas own team.my loyalty will always be with my club( its a shame becaus2 marsch deserves more respect) not with a manager who ends up doing a bad job. Chris wilder got Sheffield promotion and top half of table prem first season so is he a world class manager? He did well for a while but then deserved go get sack same as bielsa. @reddeadbret4218

It's been well documented that the reason we had no players is due to Marcelos high requirements. The players he did want weren't available for the money Leeds were prepared to pay in January and the ones Radz and Orta were after he wasn't interested in. Example: Brendan Aaronsson was sought after in January by Leeds and turned down in that window. No doubt Bielsa got a lot out of an average Championship side, but if we stayed with him Bielsa would have taken us down. How many times were we 3-0 down within 30 mins? It was embarrassing, totally demoralising and there was no sign of change in methods of practicality. The players were completely drained and the injury list was evidence of that. The one on one defending was abysmal from day one and never changed. Finally, even Bielsa has admitted publicly that his methods cannot work with the same group of players after 3-4 years - you either change the manager or get a completely fresh group - there was no chance of the latter, financially impossible, so he had to leave. It was the correct call, even if it was the most painful one. Bielsa fanatics need to get real with the realities of modern day football. Leeds would be in the Championship if it weren't for Radz' cool head and decision making with the sacking.
@ImperialMJG
@ImperialMJG 2 года назад
Yes it was really embarassing at times. To many times. If he could just adapt to the teams we were up against we Would never need to sack him and we Would not have needed to fight to Stay up last season. Now I cant wait for the Southampton game. That has to be another 3 pointer, and I see Aaronsen, Rodrigo and Bamford All scoring This time. Aaronsen is a real good gem we have gotten.

Can you provide me a link for the " well documented" Marcelo refusal . Radz is no different to any other chairman we have had .He just a better looking cleverer version of Ken Bates.He took us up to Prem on chicken feed , all the while gorging on sky cash It showed last January when. He was happy to gamble our survival once it meant he wasn't spending his own cash . All summer now even , zero net spend ,the man is coining it on the back of his ownership , you would swear he's a charity case
@reddeadbret4218

@@chrisChris6969 Angus Kinnear has spoken about it at length. Even when we first signed Marcelo there was some worry that his demands (as seen from his time at previous clubs) might not be met at Leeds. You need only look. It was written about everywhere. You say chicken feed. How much did Helder Costa cost? £16m. Bamford? £7m. Douglas? £3m. Kalvin Phillips new deal (thus avoiding a £20m+ from Aston Villa - hardly keeping the purse strings closed is it?). The wage bill under Radz doubled whilst we were in the championship resulting in him pumping £1m a MONTH into the club to cover it. Move to the premier league he spends a net spend over £100m. He bought the club from Cellino for £45m and it now has a market value of over £200m, that is a five times increase. You don't get that if you are constantly pocketing the money. If you consider all that chicken feed, then there's no point continuing this conversation. This year we all knew KP and Raphinha were going to leave. It was either get the money now or let them go for less in a year or even a free. There is no evidence of pocketing the money in any way that makes it look like he's taking the club for a ride - especially when you look at the hundreds of millions the stadium redevelopment is going to take - bet you didn't think of that, did you? Take off your anti-Radz glasses and think practically. I'm not for one second saying he's perfect - the badge redesign was aweful. But he's done something Ken Bates, Cellino, GFH.. all couldn't do, get us to the Prem with a good brand of football and, as i said above, his decision to sack Bielsa, PROVED to be the correct one. Or would you rather we get ol' Batesy back?

@@reddeadbret4218 so that will be a no then on factual links Boris also said there was no parties at no 10 ,. Guess what ??? You are also incorrect on your value , at the Lisbon web conference a few months ago ,he stated in interview the club is now worth probably 400 million . Also you seem to forget the 37 million " stationery " costs he trousered soon after buying the club . 1million £ a month !!!! I am sick to the back teeth of that 1 . How much did he get from the covid state fund to keep the business going ????? A lot of cash . The man is creaming it ,be under no illusion . Also we were 1 game away from the drop last season , 1 He ridiculously came out with his Adam Forshaw comment ,rather than buy a player or 3 in the Jan window . You also negated to mention the cash he received for getting into the PL , why is that ? Because it doesn't suit your Andrea Nightingale narrative . I have no problem with the man making shit loads of cash , but what I do have an issue with is apologists like you portraying him as some other worldly saint . He's MADE +WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MILLIONS, from his initial relatively small investment. It's the name of the game
