@user-cn3vy5ct9xAnd he weathered it and has emerged as a bit of an actor. He managed to live in obscurity with a multi million dollar nest egg. So I would think he did pretty well for himself.🤷🏽♀️ Edit: A quick google search showed that he is still doing stand up in 2024. I have no idea if he is a draw but he probably performs because he likes to.
@user-cn3vy5ct9xnot that quickly……he was going strong into the very early 90s, including successful movies, so it wasn’t the overnight success and squash many people and articles paint it to be. As a kid he was one of my introductions to stand up, thanks to an older cousin, so I remember the period pretty well…. It wasn’t a long run either, as no way he was going to last long in a period where Tipper Gore and her little cronies were trying to censor everything….. also, despite lack of advertisement, If you look, he’s made a sort of a comeback, with successful shows, packing houses, and despite being an early example of someone being canceled, he’s always managed to keep a pretty solid fanbase.
The woke mob went after him, he screwed up because he signed a contract for a TV show and they screwed him for a short period. He is back though, saw him in the movie Star is Born, then saw him at a sellout show in Phoenix
No if you were there you would remember that Dice and Sam Kinison were hated by “normies.” Their acts were hated by women, the LBGT+ community, and the right wing. Young “cool” people enjoyed them and made them millions.
@@jojo89ofcourse52 I’d say a bit after Sinead O’ Connor. She tore up the pic of the pope on SNL in October 1992. ADC still had a career for a while afterwards. Sinead wasn’t really canceled. She just pissed off a bunch of Christians, tho her career did suffer. ADC was one of the first of modern “cancel culture” is what I was referring to.
Let's all take a moment... imagine Dice doing this routine in 2024 lol ... the fainting and tears and legions of offended would be comedy gold itself lol
I don’t think there would be fainting and tears. They would “cancel” him and a digital lynchmob would do their best to ruin his entire life. They have lost their fear in the new age.
I haven't been able to go to any of his recent shows, but my son works at the Arcada Theater in St Charles IL and they've had him there quite a few times in the last couple of years
Annnnnnnnd a GenX'r would never make it inna era of Boomer insults, you hockey puck. I was bangin your mom when this came out. Anyone insulted yet??? I've got more. Richard Pryor is the reason ADC was able to do this. Even back to Dick Gregory, Lenny Bruce, and Red Foxx opened doors for RP.
@chatpilot, We started with Richard Pryor, and don't forget Bill Hicks either but Pryor's Exorcist movie bit about how there wouldn't have been a movie if black people were in it was comedy gold way ahead of it's time.
Highly underrated film. Basically in the Archie universe since he works for Josie and the Pussycats. Unmasked Freddy, Al Bundy, Morris Day. "Do my dishes!"
Was in middle school when Dice busted on the scene. We passed his cassettes around and laughed our asses off. Still to this day, almost 40 years later I still go back and listen to all his albums and crack up. Easily the undisputed stand up KING.
I bought his comedy cassette when I was in junior high school. I had it memorized from beginning to end. One of the funniest comedians ever. This was back before everyone was so easily offended.
I saw Dice at the Tropicana just before the Covid lockdown and yeah he’s older, heavier, losing his hair, but he’s still the Dice Man, savage as ever. 😂😂
I am Gen X and remember plenty of people that were offended by the Diceman. The baby boomers and the more conservative Gen Xers were always up in arms about Dice. (And I don’t mean conservative like today’s political class, you could be a Liberal and hate Dice) Oh and don’t forget about the LBGT + community, they hated him.
No, he doesnt have it anymore. I saw him few months ago. His opening act Eleanor Kerrigan was much better. And Ive seen him in the early 90's when he was great, then again in the early 2000's I won tickets to see him in a tiny restaurant maybe 150 people and he was alright then. But a few months ago no he doesnt still have it. His new material was drawn out stories that werent funny. The crowd only wanted the nursery rhymes jokes which he finished with. But I guess youtube likes are more important than the truth. Thanks for sharing. Says youtubers who want likes.
Dice is still great and Eleanor is the dirtiest female comedian out there, and real Philadelphia dirtbag dirty, not “muh vuhgina” dirty either. Don’t disrespect the diceman. It’s a bit. Enjoy it
I still remember every one of these and its been almost 40 years. His later shows were amazing. He'd start the rhyme and the whole crowd would finish them.
Great reaction you two! No shits given, Dice, Kinison, Murphy to name a few. That's why the older Gen's are hardened to humor and not easily offended by everything!! It's just comedy.
Im thinking of dropping the clip onto facebook to see how many "friends" i can lose... The funny thing would be how many friends that were into him that would start squirming... They are jokes... all people have their quirks and we all have our faults and humor can bring us all together, if we can laugh at ourselves too. Thank you!!! I truly appreciate this blast from the past...
I got in trouble at work a few years back for saying "it can sing and dance too" under my breath when someone pissed me off and an older dude heard and knew what came next in that reference
I saw him many times and I won open Mic night at the governors comedy club in Stamford Connecticut and he was there and complimented me he was the best .
I saw his show in Austin around 1990. It was freaking awesome!! You should see the nursery rhymes on "Diceman Cometh"... by then, the audience knew all those rhymes, but he had some new ones. I faithfully watched Rodney Dangerfield's show and saw this one when it came out. A lot of comedians made their start on his show.
We got into Sooo much trouble in Jr.High, when this came out! His narratives ran like "wildfire".. Through our school.!.Much Thanks for sharing this..😅
I love both your reactions to this. Back in the day. I worked tours including 1 of Dice's. It was so much fun. I'm so happy to see people finding the work that made him famous.
I grew up with the Diceman. I still can't do nursery rhymes the normal way anymore. Hictory, dickory dock... Still funny after 30 years. Scary though...I can still recite with him.
First time i heard Dice i was a kid i couldnt believe what i was hearing and was on the floor laughing im 37 now and still laugh when i hear his stuff, he had some pretty decent popcorn flicks and guilty pleasure movies that are worth checking out too
Oh crap you two are fun to watch your reactions are classic I’ve watched a lot of other reaction sites and you guys are the best. Especially my brothers laugh and your girls genuine female reaction. Cheers from San Diego Calif 619.😎
My birthday gift from my wife 3 years ago for my 50th birthday was a 5 minute cameo video from Andrew Dice Clay. It was simultaneously filthy and hilarious. She's the one-I knew it in 2006 and I know it in 2024.
@@johncurtis7186Yea you could say that. But you can’t blame the guy. If people liked him being Dice so much that he sold out stadiums, you have to “ride that train” till it ends. And he did, when it was over he continued to do comedy and film. He is even touring right now. His net worth is reportedly 10 million.
I met Andrew Silverstein “Dice Clay” back in the 1990’s - incredibly nice guy. He isn’t Italian which I thought during 80’s. “Dice man” is just a character, which was morphed out of a John Travolta impersonation.
