It's not that his parents took away his privileges, but rather they had a talk with him about it and he realized if his online activity was having such a negative effect on his family, then it was a high time he stop using social media. I will give him props. That might be the most mature thing he ever did in his entire online career and he’s stuck to it.
> Says: "For as little as a $1 a month, you can help me make comics for EVERYBODY to enjoy!" > Draws nothing but lesbian wallpapers with stolen assets and locks a Muslim Vampire comic behind a $5000 paywall to spite one of his 14 remaining backers
@@frogfireFantasy he drew a lot of lesbian art due to how much he fetishized them, and according to OP he made a Muslim vampire comic, which sounds like my greatest nightmare.
A normal person would think it's good idea to put the best of your work and effort in the one minute video about why people should donate to you. But this is no normal person...
I'm wanting to get into art as a profession doing something similar as Dobson here using patreon to fund comic production... I appreciate all that he's done as it shows me exactly what not to do to approach it lmao.
I remember following this guy yaers ago when DA wasnt as bad as it is today and he just kept getting more and more annoying and the sjw posts and then blocking comments, couldnt stand to follow him anymore. Also hes hidden how much he makes on the patreon lmao.
@@ghostisblack I think that’s what he gets for unnecessarily chase people and make other critics accountable for clout instead of learning some things he can potentially learn than wasting time on putting anger on other people. And those times, I get it every artist is picky because they need to build a good portfolio but this dude is one reason why some folks left DA because of power tripping criticism.
Holy shit, that animation is like watching a late 90's PC learning game. Couldn't he afford to hire a decent animator. Wait, he's on Patreon, so he probably has no money.
@@janushunyadi9612that’s what made him so frustrating. He’s not talentless, he went to college and had potential. He was just lazy and petty instead of trying to improve.
He was pissed off, because at some time, he tried not only a very different approach of coloring and shading (which I admit it was a fresh thing he did, looked so much better than the plain, basic coloring), but a little bit redesign himself into a much skinnier and younger looking guy (with more hair, lmao) When people were pointed the avatar change, he was like "FUCK YOU!" and then he redrew himself into a Care Bear looking furry shit.
Being into inflation art and drawing it is one thing. Being openly hostile towards sexy women AND drawing inflation art, however... "Oh, but it's not exposed genitals, so it's technically not corn." would've been the followup mindset response of Andrew Dobson. At that time period.
Wait what!? That part at 0:56 ... He's actually CRITICIZING genuinly good advice? He actually doesn't believe that an artist should draw what they WANT when it's problematic to him? Talk about having his head up his ass. I might get if he was criticizing someone's art style but that's not it, it's criticizing the 'subject matter', which is on a whole new level. Also when he showed his rendition of Puss in Boots... I can just SEE that he ripped the face design from LackaDaisy's cat designs, it wouldn't have been such a problem if the face actually MATCHED the body it was on. The smile in the left lower corner was reffed from the Lion King (where Simba and Nala are smiling at Sarabi) and for the rest the character's proportions are... uncanny to say the least, it's like he just took his way of drawing short characters and then slapped an animal head on it without considering WHY he would draw Puss like that in the first place. If you're going for a Furry or Anthropomorphic design, that's all fine and dandy but learn the rules before you try to break them. Most designs of Puss in Boots give him a sleek and nimble body, to emphasize the fact that he's a cat that runs, is quick, nimble and mischievous. With Dobbo's pic there's absolutely no reason why this character would be a cat, I could put a dog's head on him and literally nothing would've changed. Oh and this is coming from a total amateur who learned to draw by himself, just so that he could focus on gamedesign instead. Remember: while you are free to draw what you want, it's never a bad idea to look around and find out WHY people draw things the way they draw them. Look at real life, try drawing objects in your room, draw from photos... seriously, you'll improve so much after you've studied anatomy first and learn why it's important to get proportions right. No matter how oddly designed your characters are, they still have rules attached to them. Mandatory reference --> badwebcomicswiki.shoutwiki.com/wiki/BWW_Tutorials_and_Lectures
@@Michanicks No, it was drawn by Dobson imitating the style in order to ride of the backs of artists better than him. No surprises there. It's one thing to draw fan-art as a sort of 'appreciation' for the works of another artist but you usually draw 'their' characters in your own style to do that (and usually mention something like: "I was inspired by: X-work or: X-artist"), Dobson just referenced Luckadaisy's style with a character that has nothing to do with their work for the sole purpose of pilfering clicks.
@@BillyTheCat128 now, when i looked a bit harder, it became obsious it wasn't Luckadaisy, but still it seems like Dobson was trying really hard to be called out on this since he had to pick that exact colour and texture of background similar to ones Luckadaisy autor uses.
"2000$ If I can reach this outlandish goal, I'll be able to afford to upgrade my computer and tablet and hopefully be able to make even better artwork faster!" *rolls eyes*
+Mysllaw M. Considering I have a cheap ASUS and a refurbrished Wacom Bamboo fun that's about 6yrs old now and can shit out better work that Dobbo, because I actually try to better myself and openly ask for and accept critique and, I think I can safely say HE DOESN'T NEED 2K A MONTH :U
MenagerieCat He probably bought a iMac just so he could seem like some professional when he's a creepy pretentious douche. Then he bitches about it not being able to play vg. Oh noes. Also it's incredible how stale and bland his art has become. No variation at all. And his wallpapers, oh the wallpapers. Yeah, he's bad.
+Mysllaw M. What I find insulting about this thing is also the following: Give me 2000 dollar a month and I will buy ONE better computer? And what about all the other months you get that much money? What are you going to buy of that? What kind of "reward" are we actually getting instead of the shallow promise that you may make more? Fuck this guy, I hope that by the next year he is broke.
He got the iMac so he can flap-a-fap to his KorraSami porn he draws and never uploads...then again, I wouldn't upload a picture of stick figures bumping clams either.
I may not like Andrew Dobson as a person, but is it weird that I don't particularly hate his art style. Like, legitimately, I don't really notice very many technical flaws in his artwork. Maybe it's because I only just found out about him a few months ago, but if someone would like to clear things up, I would very much appreciate that.
He's fine as an artist. Better than average. The problem is that he gets into so many fights no one wants to be around him and so people downplay his ability. It's like with Hitler - fine artist, horrible person.
There are plenty of worst artists out there who aren't hated nearly as much. People got on his case back in the day because he absolutely REFUSED to take any feedback regarding the persistent flubs in his artwork, and as time went on, everyone noticed just how little his art changed over the years. It's not that the art when viewed in a vacuum is particularly offensive but rather that, viewed as a whole, it is symptomatic of someone who absolutely refuses to change in any way.
I've got two big questions to ask: How many other terrible professional artists exist on the web? And should they be called out like Andrew Dobson here?
Answer one> Many, too many to count and there will be more, coming and going. Answer two> only if they are as hypocrite and pathetic as Dobson, but thats very hard to accomplish.
some of these patreon goals for random youtubers are so fucking funny its laughable. $100 reward - yo dude you are the best, i will give you a 30 min skype call I can't remember the rewards for HIS patreon but I remember they were pathetic lmao.
>I’ve tried disabling comments to ease up on the hatred of me >My block list is so full I can’t add anyone else now >trolls seem to relish in lurking in my DA frontpage comment sections (which DA will not let me remove). Everybody should read the update old news or not. It's hilarious.
I literally just found out about this guy, and I already don't like him. The fact that he has the nerve to tell everyone else in the community what is and is not acceptable art wise is down right insulting.
64 dollar bill now. that is pathetic. Ten years plus and you think he has a larger fanbase. even Spoony with his host issues still gets like 1500 which is down from the 5000 he used to get.
Really the big thing is just he destroyed his fanbase he would want to support him to such a low state. Spoony WHO DOES NOTHING and time is a dick, is better a keeping his Fanbase together to support him.
He left the Internet in late 2019 because one of his projects was leaked, and it was a very middling series of works for how much he was promoting it. It does make me sad, for Dobson was my lolcow and inadvertently inspired me to better myself.
